It's a good thing there's a Men's Rights movement to protect men and boys, because there's no one else doi--oh wait...
Wanna know what's super gross and wrong
Middle-aged women coming out of Magic Mike XXL and thinking it’s okay to make suggestive comments to teenage boys. Because I work at a movie theatre, and it happens way more often than you would think. Our (mostly male, teenage) ushers stand at the doors of theaters as the movie ends and tell people to have a good day before cleaning the theaters. And as this happens with Magic Mike audiences, groups of 40 and 50 yo women will occasionally say repulsive and sexual things to the male ushers, and that is 100% not okay. And what’s worse is everyone thinks that’s fine and they’re “just having some fun”. We all know it’s disgusting and wrong for grown men to say that to teenage girls, but it’s also wrong for grown women to say that to teenage boys.

Remember that reddit post that was going around several months ago about the dude who wanted an open relationship with his girlfriend because he wanted to date “hotter” women than his fat girlfriend but then when she agreed she was dating tons of hot guys and he couldn’t get a single woman to date him so he wanted to close the relationship because he thought it was unfair?
Sometimes I think about that and it gives me life.

The way that we learn about Helen Keller in school is an absolute outrage. We read “The Miracle Worker”- the miracle worker referring to her teacher; she’s not even the title character in her own story. The narrative about disabled people that we are comfortable with follows this format – “overcoming” disability. Disabled people as children. Helen Keller as an adult, though? She was a radical socialist, a fierce disability advocate, and a suffragette. There’s no reason she should not be considered a feminist icon, btw, and the fact that she isn’t is pure ableism – while other white feminists of that time were blatant racists, she was speaking out against Woodrow Wilson because of his vehement racism. She supported woman’s suffrage and birth control. She was an anti-war speaker. She was an initial donor to the NAACP. She spoke out about the causes of blindness- often disease caused by poverty and poor working conditions. She was so brave and outspoken that the FBI had a file on her because of all the trouble she caused.
Yet when we talk about her, it’s either the boring, inspiration porn story of her as a child and her heroic teacher, or as the punchline of ableist, misogynistic jokes. It’s not just offensive, it’s downright disgusting.
the reason the story stops once helen keller learns to talk is no one wanted to listen to what she had to say
how’s that for a fucking punchline

Honestly please do get offended when someone uses vanilla as an insult. Be offended that they are 100% chill with implying that your sex life is shit because you don’t like to be restrained or hit. Be offended that they expect you to put yourself through that. Be offended that they want you to hurt and that they want your partner to be the one to do it.

All aspects of governing a Sudbury School are determined by the weekly School Meeting, modeled after the traditional New England town meeting. School Meeting passes, amends and repeals school rules, manages the school’s budget, and decides on hiring and firing of staff. Each individual present — including students and staff — has an equal vote, and most decisions are made by simple majority
School rules are normally compiled in a law book, updated repeatedly over time, which forms the school’s code of law. Usually, there is a set procedure to handle complaints, and most of the schools follow guidelines that respect the idea of due process of law. There are usually rules requiring an investigation, a hearing, a trial, a sentence, and allowing for an appeal, generally following the philosophy that students face the consequences of their own behavior.
