So this is a mix of links to my fanfiction and random comments on whatever I'm currently watching. I mainly write F/F fanfiction. My current works feature Patsy/Delia from Call The Midwife, B'Elanna/Seven from Star Trek Voyager, Abby/Ziva from NCIS, Hoshi/T'Pol from Star Trek Enterprise and Jenny/Vastra from Doctor Who. I'll be posting my older work as well as new pieces as and when I write them.Archiveofourown.org/users/Figment81/works

I’ll add my two cents
It took me passing out from blood loss to start to be taken seriously. I started to undergo investigations and while they had a camera shoved up me they decided to take a biopsy “just in case” but not to worry because you’re too young for that type of cancer.
Guess what I had womb cancer. I was lucky it was caught early but lots of people aren’t that lucky. There is a blood and urine test in development but they aren’t ready yet.
If you have very heavy or painful periods or things change from what is normal for you, get checked out. If the doctor doesn’t take you seriously, keep trying.
You don’t have to put up with it and it could be your life on the line.
Just fyi to all the menstruating folks: cramps, bloating, fatigue, and mood swings are normal.
Fetal position, crying, vomiting, debilitating pain, are not.
I know that getting proper diagnosis and treatment for PCOS, endo, etc is damn near impossible. I understand that it may seem like just dealing with it every month is easier. But you are not supposed to be tortured by your own body once a month for ~40 years. That's not normal, and even if your doctor won't tell you this, you deserve better.

I’m a big fan of dolphins and before digital cameras I would have rolls of film of empty water or just a splash where I’d mistimed a picture.
Also changing a roll of film onboard a small moving boat every 24 pictures was not fun
We used to have to take pictures with like. a camera. and then connect it to a computer with a usb to transfer them. to upload to photobucket . im literally shaking

Started with a Betamax then we got a VHS when I was about 5 then a DVD player as a teenager.
Same with music, I got an record player aged 8, cassette player at 10, CD player at 14 and an iPod at 18
I think I hit the sweet spot to pick everything up before I was an adult (my dad worked for an electrical retailer)

My parents sent me to uni with a toastie maker. They are a U.K. thing that creates sealed toasted sandwiches.
For the most basic version you need a loaf of bread some spread and cheap cheddar but they can be really versatile. Add in a bit of onion or mix different cheeses, maybe some ham. Cheese and baked beans was a popular combo
To really mix things up (and make something stretch further) you can put leftover chilli con carne in a toastie or spag bol.
When you start experimenting with dessert toasties that when the fun starts. Peanut butter, chocolate spread, jam? A mix and maybe a banana.
That toastie maker got a lot of use over three years and not just by me but those I shared a kitchen with too.
I still have one although the fillings these days tend to be more expensive but it’s a great way to use up the last bits of cheese in the fridge
like we’ve all been broke and eaten shitty poverty meals that were not good, but what have u eaten that u actually enjoyed at the time

Spending your 40th birthday alone fucking sucks.
COVID really hasn’t helped as I’m shielding so not even being able to go out anywhere is rough but I’d have been alone anyway.
Lockdown has reminded me just how lonely and single I am but hitting a milestone as well hurts.
Oh well there’s a bottle of jack with my name on it tonight.

Yeah that didn’t sit right with me.
If you want to have a go about the type of person Philip is go right ahead but why pick on the fact that he looks like crap having spent a month in hospital at his age.
That’s just unnecessary
Is anyone else weirdly….torn by the joking about Prince Philip coming out of hospital? Bc on the one hand ‘awful racist man is awful and looks like a corpse and fuck him and the institution he stands for’ but also… Idk, something about the implication of ‘ew gross old sick people’ is hitting me wrong, I think mostly bc seeing my grandparents die this year was difficult bc of how very, very different and close to death they looked and the idea of someone looking at them and laughing/thinking they’re gross makes me sad.

So I have done a transatlantic cruise in the past and when you’re in the middle of the Atlantic there’s no phone signal and the only access to WiFi is through paying for it onboard.
Assuming something goes wrong you have no way to contact emergency services.
Also this was a Disney cruise with characters onboard.
Possessed Mickey Mouse?
The possibilities are endless
stop using hospitals as horror settings

I had a dream that the king and the queen of a small country had a daughter. They needed a son, a first-born son, so in secret, without telling anyone of their child’s gender, they travelled to the nearby woods that were rumoured to house a witch.
They made a deal with that witch. They wanted a son, and they got one. A son, one made out of clay and wood, flexible enough to grow but sturdy enough to withstand its destined path, enchanted to look like a human child. The witch asked for only one thing, and that was for their daughter.
They left the girl readily.
The witch raised her as her own, and called her Thyme. The princess grew up unknowing of her heritage, grew up calling the witch Mama, and the witch did her very best to earn that title.
She was taught magic, and how to forage in the woods, how to build sturdy wooden structures and how to make the most delicious stews. The girl had a good life, and the witch was pleased.
The girl grew into a woman, and learned more and more powerful magics, grew stronger from hauling wood and stones and animals to cook, grew smarter as the witch taught her more.
She learned to deal with the people in the villages nearby, learned how to brew remedies and medicines and how to treat illness and injury, and learned how to tell when someone was lying.
Every time the pair went into town, the people would remark at just how similar Thyme was to her mother.
(Thyme does not know who and what she is. She does not know that she was born a princess, that she was sold. She only knows that one night after her mother read her a story about princesses and dragons, her mother had asked her if she ever wanted to be a princess.)
((Thyme only knows that she very quickly answered no. She likes being a witch, thank you very much, she likes the power that comes with it and the way that she can look at things and know their true nature.))
The witch starts preparing the ritual early, starts collecting the necessities in the winter so they can be ready by the fall equinox. Her daughter helps, and does not ask what this is for, just knows that it is important.
The witch looks at Thyme, both their hands raised into the air over a complicated array of plants, tended carefully to grow into a circle, and says, sorry.

Emma Thompson keeps hers in the downstairs loo so people can hold them and do a speech in front of the mirror without being embarrassed
just found out that Rosamund Pike buries her awards in her garden because she feels embarrassed that people will see them in her home and it’ll be awkward

i genuinely am obsessed with the energy she exudes
