Everyone always goes on about Junichi Masuda, but can we get some love for Benimaru Itoh? These are his illustrations for the 1996 Pokémon Illustrated Encyclopedia, the first game guide and real-life Pokédex for Pokémon Red & Green versions. When Itoh-san illustrated these Pokémon, there was no official artwork for them. The original 151 Pokémon were designed as sprites from the very beginning, with Masuda refining and standardising the artwork much later on, which resulted in various alterations to Pokémon designs from their original sprites.

The United Nations General Assembly adopts a Palestinian resolution calling on Israel to end its occupation by an overwhelming majority:

124 states voted in favour, 43 abstained, 14 voted against.

Israel is finished. The world recognises its apartheid and genocidal regime.

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives. I think the hardest part about addressing child abuse is getting people to acknowledge, not just intellectually but actually responding accordingly, is that the biggest threat to children, the biggest risk of abuse, is family and parents.

it is of course most often parents who are crowing about needing to protect children (often against far smaller threats than family), and pointing out that they are, statistically, the biggest threat to their kids is not gonna be received well.

the problem with "I need to criticise myself to prepare for other people criticising me" is that it fails to account for the possibilities that a) nobody will criticise you, or b) the people who do criticise you are not people you value the opinions of anyway. I know it feels like a good defence mechanism, but at the end of the day there is a high chance that you're just being mean to yourself for no reason. consider this

The grex emerged from the hybridization of two moderately related “flowerfly” species approximately ~7200 years ago, shockingly recent compared to the evolutionary history of other species. Like other flowerflies the Grex themselves are only the female gametophytes of their species, their society is heavily built on the maintainence and protection of their large sporophyte “mother trees” as well as their immobile gametophyte males

Despite centuries of contact the species’ cultures are among the most impenetrable and poorly understood. Partly from a lack of clear centralization, the closest thing analogous to government are networks of couriers, communication and distribution “guilds” in their society bridging their various industries. Partly from individuals short lifespan results in quick cultural shifts( traditionally at around 15 years of age they become sexually reproductive and die, advances in medicine have extended their lifespan into their 20s).

Despite their keen senses of hearing, grex languages are typically signed using the position and movement of their modified antenna-like forewings. Relying on echolocation at night and in their often unlit building interiors, the grex just as often hear their “visual” language as much as see it.
