i’m not against vaping, but man, vaping two inches from my face on the subway is a ridiculous asshole kind of move. this dude was billowing like he was auditioning for the role of haunted house fog machine. the humidity in the whole car changed, he was ruining haircuts. just jump starting the water cycle. condensation was dripping down my glasses. people were slipping off poles, it was chaos. it was like watching one man try to terraform the moon. a planet with one dense, root beer scented atmosphere blocking out the sun and choking all life.

almost none of the reasons why i support abortion rights have anything to do with babies. really it’s more about the fact that I think the government shouldn’t be able to force you to lend all your organs to someone else and change irreparably in the process. is a fetus a person? I don’t care! If it is a person, I don’t want anyone to be forced to host one against their will! If it isn’t a person, guess what? Nobody should be forced to host one against their will! What’s a soul? What’s a person? When does life begin? IRRELEVANT! A world in which the government can force anyone to manufacture an entirely new human body at the cost of their own is not a world I want to live in!

I would just like to say that for years so many people have been saying that Neil Gaiman is the only celebrity on Tumblr and every time I see one of those posts I am always like Hey Guys Neil is great BUT Wil Wheaton has also been here for years also just being an all around absolute gem of a celeb so I want to say thank you for sticking around on this hellsite your posts always make me smile and it's really cool to have your presence here

If I recall correctly, Neil started his blog after he had been reading my blog. I've always felt pretty happy about that.

Still watching this youtube channel about what I can only describe as "Dark Classical art" and this one absolutely floored me because I was unaware of it and I want to share it because it changes my perspective on this artist completely.

You might be aware of Louis Wain. If not by name then by his art. He's the artist behind that series of cat drawings that slowly became more and more abstract and bizarre.

This series of paintings of cats are often labelled as a visual representation of Wain's deteriorating mental illness and schizophrenia. Even more so often labelled as "a tragic display of a painter's failing battle with schizophrenia."

The paintings look like this and were painted around the very early 1900s.

So here's the thing.

Although Wain did suffer from a mental illness that was strong enough for him to be institutionalized, his mental illness was never diagnosed with clear certainty. Although "Schizophrenia" is so heavily applied to him based purely on how his series of paintings LOOK, despite actual specialists widely disputing this. On top of this, although he did paint the kaleidoscope cat portraits during this time, it was not the only things he painted, and he was quite capable of painting "normal" pictures of cats.

The Kaleidoscope Cat portraits are more images of him experimenting with colour and shapes, something the Smithsonian themselves state on their website.

Wain had actually made his entire living painting whimsical images of cats, often for product adverts, before he was incarcerated and was actually a very beloved artist at the time. When his friends learned of his incarceration, they started a collection of donation money to help transfer Wain to the Bethlam Royal Hospital instead, one of the best mental health facilities of the time. Even the Prime Minster of the time donated, and they raised a large amount of money across England to help him.

4 years later, Wain drew this as his final image which he released publicly

I knew all about "the Schizophrenic cat Guy" but he had always been presented to me as some tragic case of an artist going mad and his skills and work unraveling as he went insane.

Which is why I wanted to share this information which was new to me. And because I think it's important.

In honor of pride month I’d like to give a shoutout to Denmark’s queen Margrethe.

She has been quite the ally who helped gay couples come out of the closet and be accepted in the 1990’s by inviting them to her royal balls and please bring their partners along if they so wished, like the politician Torben Lund who was outed against his will by another politician. Torben panicked but then he received an invitation asking if he’d like to attend her party with his boyfriend. That way she let the country, and especially the upper-class, know that there would be no homophobia on her watch. Torben and his boyfriend Claus were incredibly well received and it kicked off a small trend of public figures coming out at the royal balls, much to Queen Margrethe’s delight.

When Obama came into office he sent Rufus Gifford to be his ambassador in Denmark, along with Rufus’ boyfriend Stephen. They became very popular and beloved by the people, and to show how grateful they were for being so well received they decided to get married in Denmark. During their time here they had become good friends with Queen Margrethe who sent some of her royal guards to their wedding. Not to protect them, but to publicly show her support because she couldn’t attend herself.

Her time is coming to an end and she has started pushing her oldest child, crown prince Frederik, into the light more. She has clearly been raising him right because he too is an ally, so here’s to our Queen. You might not like the concept of royal families, but there’s no denying that she’s a good person.

What is the likelihood of an 1899 house in WV being haunted? Context: Beautiful home for sale for waaaaaay less than it should be, and despite the fact that it only needs cosmetics and new widows, its been for sale for years. Three stories, no attic. Four stories if you're counting the creepy basement. The only way to the top floor is a second, hidden staircase. Second floor hallway is definitely sinister. (I have been there before, that hallway gives me the heebeejeebees)

Hm, so West Virginia is an interesting state because the further south you go, the more likely a building is to be haunted. Also, contrary to what most people think, the most haunted homes in WV are actually often the lowest in elevation, often found in the bases of hollers, etc.

Obviously any time you have a hidden staircase, your likelihood of ghosts skyrockets. The lack of an attic will have a slight dampening effect, but I would imagine it wouldn’t impact the house’s overall spookiness in any meaningful way.

Second floor hallways often attract vengeful spirits, especially of women who have been wronged by their husbands. I would recommend that anyone moving into this house be very careful, as she may not be willing to be patient, but it is possible she might become more malevolent if her story is told. Again, please exercise caution, as these souls are not to be trifled with.

All in all, I’d say this house is almost certainly haunted, and you should probably buy it ASAP and move there with your spouse and two children for a “fresh start.” Nothing could go wrong!
