Look I really don't care that Sophie and Agatha are sisters. It fits into the narrative without disrupting anything, but it wasn't necessary and it didn't change much.
So let's say the twist never happened and Sophie and Agatha aren't related at all: Agaphie still shouldn't ever be a couple, and them not getting together doesn't take away from their queerness at all.
The film tones down the toxicity of their friendship a whole lot, but in the book Sophie was so awful to Agatha, and Agatha ends up resenting Sophie because of it despite both girls still loving each other. Their relationship is neatly summarised by this:
(Which is gayer? Being gay vs the codependent friendship that became toxic and ruined your life)
I personally wouldn't want to see Sophie x Agatha even if they weren't sisters. And I don't think people should be getting called lesbophobic etc for not wanting them to be canon, and preferring to stick to actual canon.
#ALSO I am a bi aromantic woman can people please stop calling me homophobic for not shipping agaphie#i see myself represented in how i read these characters and having a different opinion to me doesn't make me right/wrong#goddddddd i knew this was gonna happen when they announced the movie#school for good and evil#sge#tagatha#agaphie

Sophie x Agatha shippers are really about to be this generations Luke x Leia shippers huh.
#it actually helps a lot to think about this in star wars terms#so this is what it must've been like when they revealed Luke and Leia were twins back then#yes they do kiss. yes it can be read with genuine romantic feelings in that moment#they don't know they're twins they can't help feeling like that#but the reveal is going to shift the form that love takes to familial#and just knowing that's gonna happen makes me feel weird about viewing them through a romantic lense at all#and makes it pretty easy to not see it as romantic#buttttt i think it's very valid to feel otherwise and if you're comfortable with it then go ahead#sge#school for good and evil

School for good and evil movie. I have thoughts.
Okok fist off, great movie
But.
Tf was half that plot? Don’t get me wrong I liked it, it’s definitely one of the better movie adaptations a book has gotten, and I understand that one can’t fit 356 pages in a two and a half (2.5) hour movie, so I get the need to take out some plot points and change a few things here and there.
The only thing I eat really disappointed about? More mad than disappointed actually, was the missing part with the beast that happened in the book.
It was such an important development for Sophie’s character (I’m not going to say what happened exactly for rust of spoilers) but the beasts character wasn’t even in the movie, or in that turn of events either.
I feel like we’re really missing a lot of the characters development and personalities, Agatha was pretty point on, the rest of the characters too, it just feels like somethings 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨.
Anyways I won’t rant about everything right now I’m still “digesting” the movie, I’ll just say the casting Sophia as Sophie was an amazing choice and the movie really was pretty great.
Can’t wait to see everyone cry over the queerbaiting
#my biggest complaint too tbh#there wasn't a reason for her not to have killed the beast it could've been done so quickly#and they had it all set up as well in the scene where she attacks hester for touching her hair#even if they wanted lady lesso to be the one cutting her hair in the scene#they could've had a wolf unchaining her whilst making fun of her new hair#leading sophie to attacking him#it's just such a pivotal moment for her character and it was completely lost#she doesn't even kill the wolves and the fairies whilst she's a hag#idk her character just felt no where near as evil as she needed to be in order for rafals motives and everyone's fears justified#what did she really do that was that evil at the end of the day?#Rile up the evers and prank them into becoming nevers#if you think about it that's the only thing separating the fight from all the other ever/never fights in the film#(lunch room fight and tedros vs that cyclops guy (sidenote: how tf was that fight more gory then the actual end battle??)#sorry i got sidetracked in these tags#bottom line is that sophie really needed to kill the beast (or i would've settle with anyone just pls she needed to kill)

My sge fanart throughout the years.
When I was 9 my friend lent me her favourite book to read and from then on I was committed to a life long love of sge. I vividly remember being 12 years old and reading through the third book straight after it released, proceeding to draw as much fanart as possible because I loved it so much.
Now I'm 19 and it still has a chokehold over me, and I'm still here redrawing the same old fanart i lovingly made all the way back at the start of my art journey <3

Okay so I just watched SGE and I absolutely loved it!!! But I got some things I wanna say because I know, I just know, people are going to be up in arms about it. I get it. I absolutely get it. It could’ve been gayer. I see completely how easy it is to read into possible queer vibes at the ending. And I’m here to say, that was not the point. Before everybody goes out and starts yelling queer-baiting and all that bullshit that I’m certain will hit the fan once more and more people watch the movie, consider this:
That ending is about the fact that romantic love is not the end all be all of love. That true love comes in many shapes and forms, and even the bond of friendship can be some of the truest love a person will know. It’s about not depending on romance to save the day and fix all your problems, to look around you for more opportunities of love.
No spoilers for the books or anything, but it’s never gonna happen guys. (You can look up why if you so desire, I know it’s in some other posts below). Just accept it now. If Netflix decides to rewrite the whole thing then fine, that would be lovely. But considering I don’t see that happening, I really do mean to just accept it now. Don’t complain about something that was never going to be queer in the first place (and of course it’s easy to read into those vibes, it was written by a queer man).
You wanna be righteous, there are many other queer stories out there. Go look at other real cannon queer characters and support them instead, if supporting a story written by a gay man isn’t enough (even if that story itself isn’t as queer as you’d like it to be).
And before anyone decides to come at me, I am writing this as a queer woman. That’s why I understand, that’s why I see the vibes, and that’s why I feel like it’s important that a story this good does not get overshadowed by the fact that it’s “not gay enough”.

I was worried about Tedros in the new SGE movie, scared that he'd be too egotistical in the film but he's so cute and charming. Obviously he still has his ego but just his introduction scene to Agatha is so cute!
"You don't actually know what I was gonna say but good try" Hello???? It's true too Agatha assumed he was gonna be an ass like everyone else so far
Anyway only like 2/5ths in cant wait to see how it goes

i feel like a lot of problems i have with the movie could've been solved if they had just made a miniseries. don't get me wrong i did like the movie but,, compared to the books it felt shallow. i know that you can't stay completely faithful to the books (that would've dragged at points) but the story felt restrained by the runtime. everything just felt a tad too rushed.
