endless gifs of tv shows that i love || in the flesh
Amy once asked me how many miles would I have to go before I could be okay with myself. I thought I’d have to go around the whole world. And I don’t think that any more. I’m okay here.

“one night a muslim boy gets drunk. what does the public say? they smile and kindly tolerate. He’s a boy, he’s young and nice. It’s okay!
A muslim girl takes off her hijab for four seconds in front of two gay friends because after days of being emotionally exhausted she feels the need to let go a little.
Good: i read from girls, almost none whom were muslim by the way, that because of this they were in shock.
And i ask myself: why weren’t you in shock when her brother got drunk, which in terms of religion is a lot worse than what she did?
Why do you think women can never mess up? That they always have to be irreproachable and give the perfect example?
Me and Sumaya, the muslim woman with whom i wrote skam italia, simply decided that Sana has the same right to mess up and to slip up and let go as her brother, or any other character in the show.
We’re not telling saints’ stories.
We’re telling people’s.
You’re obviously allowed to disagree.
Peace and love!”

I think that we should stop overlooking the fact that Bessegato didn't write this season all by himself. In fact, he was helped by an Italian sociologist who happens to be Muslim as well and her name is Sumaya Abdel Qader. There is an interview in which she clearly explains that she provided help during the entire shooting of the season, she made sure that everything regarding Muslim culture was accurate. Beatrice Bruschi (yes, I know, she's white, she's not Muslim, that's bad, could've found a real Muslim actress) spent a lot of time with Sumaya and her daughters, she learnt how to wear a hijab correctly, she learnt how to pray. And above all, you can see that Sana is the main focus of this season for once, it definitely shows.
So, if you're just here to criticise Skam Italia without even watching it, you're probably the one that misses something that Italy had never seen before on television. You have the right to be offended by certain choices, but every remakes has definitely its flaws, even the OG. Despite all of that, Bessegato and Qader, along with the actors and the rest of the crew, managed to deliver a wonderful season 4 and I hope people will thank them for their hard work. Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.
