2013 Lincoln Band Review
That Lincoln Band Review on November 16, 2013 marked the end of the 2013 Marching season - and it turned out pretty well. Irvington Marching Band + Colorguard managed to sweep those Sweepstakes :)
Aside from capturing the magical moment when the Band won, this video also takes into account what the band does in their free time...(shabby) rap battles.

Global Glimpse School Supplies Drive
Global Glimpse wanted a video for their school supplies drive! I drew everything quickly and voiced it over so you actually understand the video. (sorry about my voice...)
Donate school supplies by putting pencils, paper, notebooks, etc into cardboard boxes located in advisory. You'll be helping all the juniors, who are going to bring these supplies to schools in Nicaragua and The Dominican Republic.

What's the Get Schooled Challenge?
Irvington's ASB reached out to me and asked me to film a short "explanation-promotional" kind of video and edit it in a day. Hm, challenge accepted - hope it turned out alright. This video is also being sent to the Get Schooled organization.
Get Schooled is an organization that seeks to empower and inform the youth about education. This year, Irvington decided to participate in the Get Schooled challenge for a chance at $5000, a DJ dance party, and a celebrity principal--possible celebrities include Jeremy Lin, One Direction, and Kendrick Lamar.
Since this video was pretty much talking all the way through, I tried to liven it up a bit. Overall, the video fulfills the main purpose: to inform the audience about this challenge.
Go to GetSchooled.com for more information.

Made this short animation to promote Irvington Interact's first meeting back in September 2013. This was my first time making such a kind of video--the animations with the voiceover--so I'm pretty glad with the way it came out.

Quick Fall Trends labeling for the browser in this month's The Voice issue. There are a lot of words, but I had to make all the info fit onto the photo relatively fast...y'know, journalism deadlines.
Thanks Sandra Choi (model) & Aishwarya Aravind (photographer) for letting me edit the heck out of the photo.

Irvington vs. Mission XC Meet - October 31, 2013
Never been to a XC (Cross Country) meet? Catch a glimpse of the IHS vs. Mission Meet on October 31, 2013...and that infamous Squirrel Song while you're at it.
Personally, I've never really had the chance to attend one of these, so it was exciting for me to sort through the footage and put the entire video together. The team's camaraderie is beautiful and you can really tell they have a blast just being around each other. Thank you to my friend (and editor in chief boss) Jenny Lu for filming and doing the voiceover.

IHS Santa Cruz Band Review 2013
Band people are funny. You'll find their candid honesty refreshing ("Yeah, I think we'll be average")
This is the annual Santa Cruz Band Review...but no one's ever really reported on it before. Here's proof the band doesn't just go to Santa Cruz to chill out at the boardwalk - that's after.

We the People 2014 Washington DC Trip - Day 5, 6, 7
Finally, the last part is up. For Day 1&2 and Day 3&4, click on the words.
We the People is a competitive seniors-only civic education and constitutional debate team at Irvington High School. I had the privilege of auditioning for and joining this team as we embarked on a week-long journey to our nation’s capital for a Washington Workshop seminar. We even went during a historically important time - the shutdown - which was actually pretty exciting for us history nerds.
Nevertheless, it was one of the best weeks of my life - and of course, as a journalist, I decided to document almost every waking moment of my life there. Since we left school for this (October 5, 2013 - October 12, 2013), I wanted to bring some of this journey back home for our fellow friends, family, teachers, and community—not only did I want to broadcast what we did that week, but I also wanted to transcend our excitement, bonding, and awe as we immersed ourselves in an entirely different culture.
I filmed, collected interviews, and edited hours of footage by myself. Thanks to everyone who agreed to speak about an event in the videos.
Thanks to Mrs. Cook-Kallio, Mrs. Piekarski, and Miss Piekarski for taking us on this incredible journey. As a team, we grew in ways we never could have in a classroom, and I hope I caught that on film.
