genuine answer: it can help for people with major depression to have other people, words, songs etc that they can relate to. i don’t agree with forcing the cutesy sad boy depression “aesthetic” on it becaues that’s romanticising a real mental illness but if people find comfort in believing someone like joji understands depression or whatever then that’s a pretty normal coping method
