Tate blinked and laughed a little, reaching over to ruffle her hair with a grin. “Hey, I speak the truth, Vi. You’re great. Greater than you realize, you know? I don’t know what I did to deserve you, if I’m bein’ honest,” he muttered, absently resting his head on her shoulder. “But I’m glad.”

“..You were talkin’ about me?” Tate blinked, a small blush rising to his cheeks, and he couldn’t help but laugh a little. “C’mon, Vi, I’m not that great..but, uh, yeah, I do think that. You’re kind..and smart..and funny..and you get me in a way that no one else has. So..you’re way more than just a pretty face, definitely.”

He shrugged, sighing a bit as he brushed his bangs out of his face. “That figures, though. Like I said, that’s all most guys are lookin’ for. It’s bullshit. You’re more than just a pretty face, Vi..you know that, right?” Tate tilted his head, a small smile appearing on his face. “You’re way more than that.”

Tate bit his bottom lip, glancing down for a moment before he sighed. “If he didn’t like you..then why would he ask? I swear, guys are just assholes..askin’ girls on dates and gettin’ pissy when they don’t put out..” he grumbled, wrinkling his nose. “It’s awful, you know.”

“Well damn..” Tate sighed, giving Ben’s hand a gentle squeeze as he looked over at him. “I’d say I’d come with you, but I don’t think I’d be able to, you know? My mom is..too protective of me sometimes..so..” A shrug, and he scooted a bit closer. “I’m here for you, though.”

“I don’t think they’d care if I even ran away Tate.” It had been the truth. no matter what Ben did they’d never seem to care, just like him hurting himself went unnoticed even though he was sure they knew what he did. “I should run away…find a better place, but I don’t think I really know how to take care of myself.”

“..Guess you’re right.” Tate shrugged, absently running his thumb over the back of Ben’s knuckles and sighing. “Maybe run away? Show ‘em that if they’re gonna treat you like shit, then you’re gettin’ the hell out.”

“I can’t…I can’t just kill my parents. that’s CRAZY.” Ben says looking down at their hands but not pulling away like he normally would. “Killing them’s a little too extreme…I’ve gotta think of something that won’t get me arrested.”
