a lot of people on tumblr and Ao3 seem to think Christianity (mainly Catholicism) is just a cool and sexy esthetic narrative force to make your characters guilty and repressed and I'm just like...

hey what about the grace? the grace of God? the grace God gave specifically so we wouldn't need to be guilty and repressed? God's grace? that grace? do they have that grace?

The Church of Saint George (Ethiopia) was carved downwards from a type of volcanic tuff. This is the sole architectural material that was used in the structure. Deemed by some to be the 8th wonder of the world.

The legends state that an angel came to Lalibela and asked the ruler Gebre Mesquel Lalibela to build the churches (of which there are 11). Men and angels worked together during the construction. The men would work throughout the day and the angels worked all night.

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

Hey, can I get some prayers for my grandpa? He has cancer and dementia and is declining very rapidly. We're planning on celebrating an early Easter with him this weekend, this will probably be the last holiday we have with him. Just pray that his final days are peaceful and without pain, and that my dad and I can arrange for him to receive final confession and last rites.

Prayers for my grandma too please, she's been his primary caretaker and is dealing with so much right now.

Please keep a woman, Lindsay (not sure of the spelling) in your prayers. She lost her husband very, very recently. It sounded like she's got her kids to look after as well, and the rest of her family is in Oklahoma.

I have to say, I think the biggest reason I'm catholic is the eucharist. Just... having the real physical presence of Christ exactly where you are, where you can worship him, adore him, just be with him... I couldn't ever leave the catholic church, because it would mean leaving the eucharist - Jesus - behind.
