tw: death, murder Maya was born into a loving family. By her father’s side, she learned his magic, the magic of healing people with her baking. Literally.  The problem was that she didn’t stay in a loving family. When she was 8, her two witch parents were killed by a witch hunter. After testifying in the witch hunter’s trial, she bounced around various foster homes until she turned 18. It was not exactly a good time, considering how she had to hide her powers and beg to be loved. At 18, she moved off the Massachusetts Cape and into an apartment in Boston. It was easier in some ways. There was no one to judge the bad choices she made.  But then the son of the witch hunter who killed her parents appeared. She ran. There was no other choice in her mind. After a year of running, she had no choice but to kill or be killed. And in the end she killed. In the aftermath, Maya moved to the town of Opulence. She was looking for somewhere safe and found something equivalent in Colorado. In the last three months, she’s gotten a job and an apartment. It’s something at least, the start of a new life.

Upon entering Opulence, Maya gained her mother’s power of ILLUSION. She can make only sight illusions that do not stand up of the scrutiny of any other senses.

Felix Arthur Monroe

Personality wise, Diana could be described as a fire cracker. She is feisty and funny, she can be stubborn and bloody minded at the best of times, but she is flexible for those she cares most about. As a mother, Diana tries to give her daughter as much room as possible to grow, but on occasion her protectiveness gets the better of her and she has been known to throw down with other mums. Diana loves hard and honestly, and expects the same in return. Her standards for those in her life, specifically for those in her love life, are considerably high making her a difficult lady to land. None knows this better than one Roman Baudelaire, her "friend". 

Diana is from Brooklyn, New York, and was raised predominantly by her mother. Her father appeared at birthdays and some holidays, usually dropped a load of cash in Diana's mother's lap, spent a night or two and then disappeared again. Though it sounded cold, Diana never begrudged her father's selective participation in her childhood because in truth she never lacked for love. Diana's mother was all the parent she needed, and the two got on so well that when Diana had her daughter, the three remained living together.  Diana was happy with that. The two had a strong bond, considered themselves best friends as well as mother and daughter, and this was the standard Diana strived to achieve with her own daughter. 

In her mid thirties, Diana discovered she had a Lycan half brother by the name of Lucas Sanchez. Despite discovering it at such a late age, the two bonded quickly, and funnily enough Lucas - her werewolf half brother - was not Diana's first foray into the supernatural. She had in fact dated Eric Baxter, a siren from Opulence, who happens to be the father to Diana's sixteen year old daughter Ada. 

The discovery of the supernatural wasn't as shocking as it should have been. When Diana was a child, her mother had told her stories of sirens who lived for eternity, unrestrained by mortal laws and trivialities like money. Her mother explained how these sirens spent their decades of life dancing with the darkest sea water creatures and playing chase to the ocean's feisty and friendly life. The way her mother had trailed off at the end of the story, that look of longing in her eyes, Diana had always mistaken for a desire for an easier life, less work, more freedom, but upon the discovery of Eric's scaled nature, she wondered if that look of longing was in fact regret. 

Diana thought she might one day get answers but they came sooner than she would have liked. Her mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness; dementia, and on the last day of her humanity, Diana's mother made a call to an unknown number, hopped on a train and walked into the ocean. A year or so later, Diana and Eric rented a boat in order to take their sixteen year-old out for her birthday. Ada and Diana were both in the water when her grandmother returned from the depths and used her new siren voice to drown her family. While Eric was able to save Diana, Ada was turned siren that day. 

This life changing event brought about the decision to move to Opulence, so Ada could be close to her siren father and family, and Diana could be close to her half brother.

A mistake, never supposed to happen, bastard child. All words used to describe Felix Monroe by his father, Edmund, the moment he learned his maid was pregnant by his hand. The woman did not want her son to grow up in the world of the magical elite, with their rules and regulations, and so left her profession to go back home to North Carolina to raise her son. Felix grew up on the road, his mother Eva traveling frequently for work – most of the time Felix was either in the care of his grandmother or stuck in motel rooms. That didn’t mean he wasn’t happy; in fact, an older Felix would claim these were the best years of his young life. They didn’t have much but they had each other.

And then Felix started to display an affinity for magic. It wasn’t anything big at first, just making people's hair grow at a rapid rate or bewitching crows to attack his bullies. It slowly began to spiral into something bigger the longer it was left as the young boy tried to hide it, building and building until one day his mother found a collection of animal bones, dolls that resembled the children in his class with bent limbs and notes scrawled in a language she couldn't decipher. Felix was 12 when this incident occurred, and it convinced his mother to get back in touch with the Monroe’s regarding her son’s quirks.

Edmund had known she was pregnant but didn't realize she bore a son. Felix was the fabled 7th son of a 7th son, meant to be powerful beyond most normal witches. With persuasion, money, threats, Felix was sent to live with his father and multitude of other siblings. Never would he see his mother again.

Growing up in the household was hard, Felix was immediately put on a strict regime to train him up to the family’s standards. It wasn’t just magic, it was history, elocution lessons to rid him of his drawl, math, building upon what little public and home-schooling had already taught him. Felix was being groomed to be the successor to the Monroe legacy and head of the family, blindsiding his elder brothers and sisters in his prowess. It wasn’t something he wanted, more like an ambition he was trained to have. Though no friends, Felix preferred allies, coating himself in a web of ice – if they would not like him, they would fear him. This carried him through his teenage years, marked by a distinct loneliness and isolation that proved fruitful as Felix seemed to just grow in power and ability. There was little he could do and was set for life.

Then his mother died.

Felix felt it, as if something had been ripped from his core. Abandoning everything, he went back home to North Carolina for the funeral. He was one of the only few, shell-shocked and alone, surrounded by only a handful of people. It had been years since he’d last seen her, of course but it didn’t make it any better – only worse. Felix’s only seemed to grow worse afterwards, erratic, irritable, beginning to try and slippery slope many witches had tried to before him; that of necromancy. For hours he poured over books and accounts, soiling the few positive relationships he had in pursuit of something concrete. It never came, so Felix took matters into his own hands. A dark ritual, a sacrifice needed but Felix wasn’t as alone as he thought he was. A last-ditch attempt by his father to stop the madness his son was spiraling into ended in his demise. The spell did not work. Felix’s mother did not come back, and in turn he had lost his father.

The Monroe siblings were quick to cast Felix out in their grief, disowning their bastard brother and sending him packing. Felix wound up in Opulence, alone and forever marked by what he’d done, settling down as an ancient languages teacher.

Upon arrival in opulence, Felix didn’t notice anything particularly different about him. The power he’s obtained is the chance to nullify the abilities of those who had also gained them upon entering Opulence, a sort of invisible field around him he cannot perceive or feel.

unnamed appears as though they are over thirty-five years old, they are a witch*, who is connected to adelita flores as her two elder brothers. she looks an awful lot like alice braga and thinks they may look something like no suggestions.

Adelita became High Priestess of Helka's Own, despite being the third child due to inherit, after her two elder brothers mysteriously disappeared. 

The storyline can be discussed, but Adelita needs to be somewhat involved, to the detriment of her brothers. The plot cannot include the murder of either brother at Adelitas hands. 

She will remain High Priestess upon either brothers return, but of course her claim will come into question. As public figures in the community, the storyline will need to take this into consideration. Public and permanent shame to characters will have to be seriously considered, as I'd really like to play out a power struggle. 

Adelita's 12 year term as High Priestess has culminated in her decision to select the next in line based on merit, not blood, which has upset various family members and the more traditional witches in the coven. This and various other modern changes that Ade implemented could be used as a way to divide the coven over who should be Priest/Priestess. Looking for a plot line that is influenced by gang culture, old English Royal culture, and anything else you might want to bring to the Flores table!

Rafael’s daughter who he doesn’t know exists - she would’ve been conceived with his then girlfriend just before he signed up for the dog soldier programme when he was 18. He has no idea she exists and as he never really returned back to that place. The daughter’s reasoning for pursuing Rafael is completely UTP, from being curious to who her father is to something happening at home or to her mother.
