FINN: Mostly school stuff and family stuff. No, I'm not participating in the musical. With that rehearsal schedule I'd be dead on my feet at school.

Finn: Even with a short week, this week felt so long.

Finn: That mess at the garage probably didn't help though.

I’ve been back in Lima for almost a month now and I can say I did not miss this place. The majority of people are still idiots, the food is ridiculously greasy as hell, and I still feel like I’m living in the dark ages sometimes with people’s opinions on today’s issues.

On the plus side working at Luxe has been badass, it’s really cool the community theatre is doing RENT, low key mad I wasn’t here to audition but it is what it is, and I am back together with my family which is relatively dope. But why don’t ya’ll tell me everything I’ve missed these past couple of years?

And in a month you haven’t managed to catch up on everything?  Granted, it’s been a busy month with the holidays and all.  It is really cool that the LCT is doing Rent, I think it’s going to be great; looking forward to going to see it.

As for me, still teaching.  Managed to snaggle a permanent contract after several successful professional evaluations, and a permanent position opened at Lima Elementary.  I’m dating Caden St. James, who owns Candyland Bakery, and Burt is running for Mayor of Lima.  Mom is still working part time at the hospital.  So what brings you back to Lima?

I mean, there were children screaming and crying everywhere, it was certainly full of people not having a good time, so I imagine they do a lot of helping to make those better than anything.

That’s good, I’m glad.

Those children that were screaming and crying though, might not have been sad or scared necessarily.  It could be from feeling overwhelmed, over stimulated, tired, excited.  Adults are generally better at naming and handling our emotions in public but it’s something kids are still learning.  While I think that’s part of the reason they have characters roaming the parks, and lots of souvenirs and treats, that can be too much for some people- adults and kids alike.  The question is though, even with the screaming and crying kids, would you go again?

Is it weird that you basically got thrown in a dad role? I'd imagine that it's just a little uncomfortable.

It's neither weird, nor uncomfortable. It's actually not uncommon for young students to accidently call their teachers Mommy or Daddy from time to time, which I have experienced. It's kind of part of the role of an ECS teacher. Plus, on a more personal note, I've always wanted to be a dad, so any bit of that I get to experience is great. But at the same time, I recognize I'm not the dad, or even really the parent, in this case. I'm a trusted adult family friend and mom's boyfriend. Maybe one day that will change, and be different. That would be cool.

REAGAN: hey, finn.

REAGAN: with all the election things coming to a close... i can't be the only one a little bit nervous about it, right? like.. worried about dad's health and stuff.

REAGAN: i'm worried russell is going to try something.

Finn: Hey Reagan.

Finn: I get what you mean, yeah. But I also know mom is watching his health and diet carefully, which I am sure we all are in our own ways.

Finn: We can't control Russel, sadly, but we can control how we and how Burt might react to Russel.

Finn: So I feel like, being aware and cautious, is the best bet for now.

Finn: And reminding him no matter what happens we're proud of him. I know e knows it; but it's always nice to be reminded.

Finn: How are you doing? That probably isn't the best thing for you either?

There has been much making my break suck and unfortunately a lot of it will persist even after I’ve returned to work, but there’s not particularly anything I can do about that. But, at least yours has gone well, someone’s had to.

I’m sorry to hear that.  Hopefully you find some resolutions to it all in the new year.

I’ve been at Disney since the 20th and honestly, it’s been the best holiday season I’ve had in a relatively long time. 

Did yours continue to go well?

Oh that sounds amazing.  Pricey but amazing. I think Disney might sue though if you were at the reputed happiest place in the world and weren’t having a good time.  Or try to do something to help you have a better time. 

Yes, it was pretty great, and what wasn’t great was less about my actual enjoyment, and more people just trying to bring others down.  Thankfully relatively easy to ignore.

Ander: Hey, I never got to properly thank you for your Christmas present, which I love dearly by the way. So if you and Caden aren't busy I would love to have you two over for dinner one day!!

Ander: And give you your present in return!

FINN: Merry Christmas! And Happy New Year!

FINN: Oh, sorry man. Burt and I are watching football, like we always do. And I have plans tomorrow before school starts again on Monday.

FINN: But I'll check with Caden and let you know alright?

FINN: You really didn't have to do that. But thank you.

Hopefully time slows so you can enjoy the last bit of vacation before the new school year. It’s insane! And you were two guys. I’m just one person. So, I never realized what a pack rat I was, but I just don’t have the heart to toss stuff. A lot of it has sentimental value. I couldn’t Marie Kondo it.  

So, you already know the news based on that text I sent to the family group chat. It makes great sense, I’m very happy. 

It’s so crazy how fast and slow it seems to go, at the same time.  Sometimes that might be worse because you have more space to yourself, you know?  And now, obviously you have to fit you things with Eli’s things and so there is going to be overlap and maybe neither of you is ready to get rid os something but do you really need two...of whatever item?  Maybe in 2022 I’ll try to tackle Marie Kondo’ing my loft in pieces.  Or do one of those 40 days 40 bags purges for lent.  

I do.  And I’m happy you’re happy Maxie.

I made the mistake, well, not really a mistake because I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, but. Aspen had discovered Sing, so it’s safe to say Im going to be taking my little one to the theaters for the second movie tomorrow. After we rewatch the first one for twenty times. So it looks like, tons of popcorn and a sugar crash is my NYE plans. Hopefully everyone else is ringing in the new year, not with a sugar crash. 

Ah, I was wondering why this movie either seemed like the longest movie ever, or was just playing on a continual loop.  What about trying to make it a late matinee or early evening showing, so when the sugar crash hits, and Aspen crashes out, maybe we can make the most of some us time?  I can think of a couple of things we could do.
