The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

Unrelated, Best Boy Hank Green made a cute, no subscription, not invasive and full of malwares app.

It's a cute lil app that helps you step away from your phone and leave it alone for a time you set, to stay away from distraction. If you pick up the phone, the knitting lil bean loses all of his knitting... So if you say "I'm setting down my phone for half an hour so I can efficiently clean the table and bag up the trash" it helps resisting the call of the screen. Because you can't make the bean sad. The bean is too cute.

I'm trying so hard to spread the good word of copper.

People keep wanting to replace copper with gold, even though it is 30% better than gold.

That must really hurt copper's feelings.

Should I start a new sidequest telling people how great copper is?

Also, WE ALREADY HAVE A SHITLOAD OF GOLD.

It's just lying around doing nothing.

There are *some* uses of gold that would be somewhat beneficial but are impractical because of cost. I'm not saying having more for commercial/industrial use wouldn't be helpful. But for most critical electronics, we already use as much gold as is needed to protect things from corrosion.

But copper is a really cool metal and I think it is prettier than gold, personally.

That is some sexy metal right there.

Oxygen free copper wire is the gold standard for sending electricity from one place to another.

And even if we had infinite gold, copper would still be used pretty much anywhere we can shield it from the elements.

If you see copper today, tell it how pretty it is and how gold ain't shit.

I will not have carbon in my food. That is one step too far. I'm going on an anti-carbon diet from here on out. Nothing I eat will have any nasty ass carbon in it from now on.

why is lake superior so dangerous? i cant find anything online that will give my access (not american!)

it's the largest freshwater lake on the planet by surface area, you could lose a couple of smaller countries in there and not even notice. (vs Europe)

on top of that, it's a Northern lake, so the water never really gets warmer than 50 F (10 C) even in the heat of summer, and it's famous for sudden violent storms that destroy ships and buildings alike. this thing has a MASSIVE body count because it's also a major shipping thoroughfare.
