Walking Intently - reflecting on my walk
I walked around the corridors and up flights of stairs in our arts building, and I was extremely aware of how quiet and empty some areas were. I documented my walk by taking photos and making drawings in a POV type shot where my legs were slightly in frame at points.
these are just a few of the 77 images I took of our entire journey. I also sketched my friends.

Before the walk, I was inspired by Sophie Calle's work as she creates very personal pieces where we are looking at a person's hotel room and their items. I mimicked this theme by being extremely mindful of my two friends who I was with and what they were looking at and documenting. Sophie Calle's work is all about perception and surveillance, so my photographs and sketches of friends on the walk achieve a similar goal.
(Calle's piece the detective:)

Her pieces also tend to have text alongside them to provide more context, and so when I was walking around I made sure to note any thoughts I had.
Calle's piece The Detective (which we focused on before the walk) is much more invasive than the work I produced today. This piece shows a detailed journey but from a private detective who is following her from a distance. I did take the inspiration of using many photos to build up a sense of a journey, but my photos are all, as mentioned before, in a more traditional POV shot, as if you're there in the moment rather than watching from afar.
Overall it was very interesting to have Calle's work in mind as I documented my walk, and made me be more mindful about the things I was photographing and what I drew too.
