Smiles Lurking (17"x14", Copic and Ballpoint Pen on Drawing Paper)
Continuing the horror theme from last week, this piece takes the hallway and corner lounge of my dorm and distorts it to a liminal space full of aliens and twisted smiles. The whiteboard itself is possessed by one of these creatures, forming a smile filled with malice as the lamp in front of it shakes in fear.

Sketch of a one-off oc that I made for fun.
Mels the clown is loosely based off Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise. She's known for hanging around an abandoned carnival (drawn behind her). She lures her victims in and gives them the time of their lives, due to this being the last moments of their lives. Though it appears that the carnival is run down as it was abandoned 20 years ago due to faulty maintenance, she has fixed the motors that run these rides to that she can fully control the speeds at which the rides run at.
Where her victims die is all up to her. Some tragically die due to a "faulty seatbelt" on the rollercoaster. Others die an antagonizing death, stuck on top of the Ferris Wheel, locked in their box without food or water for days. Some get a quick death when they become the victim of carnival darts.
Each time she's disappointed that they don't survive, hoping one day to find a playmate who's just as tough as she is.

King Morde (meaning murder in German) is the king of Logos and resides in Stag Guard, the royal complex that houses his family high on a mountain outside the capital city, where air pollution is at its least. He comes from a long dynasty that was a part of the original demi-god explosion 100 years before his reign began. His family helped construct the strict and oppressive caste system that governs Logos and he intends to uphold it until his death.
He ascended the throne at age 13 after his own parents were killed by the hands of That Who Treads Quietly, guided by the advisors left by his mother, the Queen before him. He is known for tightly upholding the hierarchy that the castes brings (and indirectly causing the deaths of thousands upon thousands of citizens as a result), while also being a wise and clever business man, bringing in a large and much needed economic boom to Logos, which is a large source of his arrogance that gets on even his closest advisors and friends nerves at times.
His clothing is based off tech wear, a fashion subculture that is known for functionality (and price). The clothes are usually made from materials such as Gore-Tex (a synthetic waterproof fabric known for its breathability), nylon, and spandex. This style fits Morde perfectly, as its a style, especially in this country where having clothes that are well made and are for looks rather than for a specific job is something that only the richest can afford. It flexes his wealth and power without encumbering him in heavy and warm fabrics that would leave him uncomfortable.
The blackout tattoo spanning from the top of his neck to his shoulders also serves the singular purpose of non-verbally bragging about his wealth. The respiratory mask he wears is something that is exclusive to the ruling and noble classes. Everything he does, he does with some intention behind it.
Height: 5ft 9in (175 cm)
Weight: 180 lbs (81 kg)
Age: 20 years
Demi-god Trait: Animalistic - He holds the family trait that gives them Stag-like features, including Horns, horizontal pupils, and enhanced jumping capabilities.

Drawing of a work of art by Butch Anthony that was displayed in one of my school's galleries. I kept most of the work the same as it was but altered the feather into a phoenix feather.
Bones are usually associated with death, as it's very difficult to obtain them from an alive organism. Choosing to do this piece subtractivly with charcoal gave the black and white portions a grain that is usually present in old photos, further pushing the idea of things that have passed.
This theme is juxtaposed with the phoenix feather hanging from the bones. Phoenixes often represent life and rebirth, as they are known for being bright and fiery, as well as being reborn from the ashes of their old body.
Put together, this piece symbolizes that even though it can be bleak at times, those challenges give you the opportunity to grow and be reborn into a new, better person.

That Who Treads Quietly is considered a cryptid in their country, Logos (taken from the Greek word generally meaning logic), and is both revered and feared by the residents. It is known for ending the lives of people regardless of their social class. Though many in all of the classes have tried to track down and unmask this legend, they have all failed to.
Only a few people know the truth of its identity. It, in reality, is a demi-god (the name given to people who were born with powers), who was born to an upper-class family. It left its family to live in the city with the working class due to its own dissatisfaction with the tight caste system that keeps generations of unfortunate people with little to no recourses.
Its clothing symbolizes all three castes, with the mask’s respirators referencing the ruling/noble class and their exclusive access to clean air and breathing filters, the construction uniform and cloak made of dyed clothing scraps represent the worker class, and the mask and mechanical eyes represent the upper class, representing their easy access to medical care and prosthetics and leisure time for hunting.
Height: 6ft 4in or 194 cm
Weight: 150 lbs or 68 kg
Age: unknown
Demi-God trait: Animalistic- fox ears, enhanced speed and enhanced agility

This piece is a platter I made for a ceramics class. The platter will be a part of the Loki altar I'm making and will hold any offerings I leave. Spiders are associated with Loki among Norse pagans in current times due to a variety of reasons. The most common reason for this association is that in the myths, Loki invented the fishing net in order to find a flaw in its design after stressing that the Aesir might invent it first and capture him. (He was in the form of a fish and trying to escape the Aesir.) Nets and many other forms of bondage, including spider webs, and spiders, are associated with Loki due to this.
The color palate itself is more explanatory, as black and green are colors that are associated with Loki.
The piece itself was constructed on a plaster mold using small coils and slip for the construction. I would have loved to have the coils be visible, but the coils were super small, therefore drying completely within minutes and skipping leather hard. They were breaking every time the piece was touched, so slip had to be added in order to preserve structural integrity, and unfortunately covering the coils entirely.
The spider web was made with a slip trailer on top of a black fish sauce underglaze (the school's own blend that creates a lighter black). The exterior has a base of the same black underglaze as the interior and has several coats of a mint green glaze on top. The drippiness of the glaze on the exterior was not planned and parts of it did stick to the kiln shelf and had to be grinded off later, but what's a Loki inspired piece without a small bit of chaos?
