The Jedi are no more culty and brianwashing than any other religion/culture/society.

“But the Jedi believe that love is wrong!” *INCORRECT BUZZER*, they discourage love to the point of obsession and possession. What Anakin had with Padmé wasn’t just live, it was possessive and unhealthy. The Jedi thrive on love, caring for others, empathy, they just don’t allow it to control your logical decision making.

“But they’re groomed into believing Jedi ideas” no shit?? All people are so called groomed into their society…that’s how learning to function in your specific culture works. You don’t come out of the womb knowing to say please and thank you, knowing that you will work a 9-to-5 one day, those things are taught…obviously Jedi are raised to believe Jedi ideas.

“But they could have done more to save the galaxy!” A common argument, and I understand the frustration. The Jedi were in a weird position, dwindling numbers, a lack of Sith threats for centuries, their reliance on republic funding, over the CENTURIES they grew complacent, as they weren’t as needed as they once were. Sometimes it feels like people expect the Jedi (a group of a ten thousand) to single handedly fix the galaxy (MANY BILLION SENTIENTS)…it’s a very unreasonable expectation. Could they have done more? Sure, I could think of some things they could have done differently, but don’t act like they are to blame for everything going wrong.

Ngl joining the jedi order sounds like the ideal life to me because just imagine:

1. People regulate thier emotion and communicate to you logically. No need to understand social cues when you're an empath.

2. No pressure to marry, be in a romantic relationship and live in a nuclear household my entire life.

3. I can just?????? Help people?????? Without the extra cost of a system working me to the ground to achieve certain things????

4. No strings attached companionship and friendships? Amazing.

5. A caring and respectful community who council each other and accepts who I am as a person? Count me in.

6. Lightsaber go brrrrrrrrrr

7. Being able to do what I want career wise (Gardening, art, politics, piloting, exploring, childreering, medicine, teaching, etc.) without having to worry about money.

Headcanons that answer various plot holes/ problems with Star Wars

1. Why does the Order only induct babies? Doesn’t that make them kidnappers?

The Force is very powerful and babies are very emotional. For a power that so tied to emotions this combination can be very dangerous. Babies/toddlers need to learn how to control and emotions before a tantrum causes an explosion. Older children who successfully get through this period without exploding things with their mind powers are seen to have a naturally high self discipline and emotional intelligence and thus don’t need to be trained.

Its seem as a great honor in many cultures across the Galaxy to have your child become a Jedi. To the point where as soon as parents suspect their kid is force sensitive many immediately and willingly give the baby to the Order. There is absolutely no kidnapping or coercion involved.

2. If red lightsabers are from “bleeding” a kyber crystal, why doesn’t Anakin’s lightsaber turn red in Revenge of the Sith?

While kyber crystals are naturally attuned to their Jedi’s emotions, it takes far more than just tapping into the Dark Side for the crystal to bleed. You have to do it on purpose. Not quite requires-a-whole-ritual levels of on purpose but like you have to consciously take your anger and pain and negativity and force them into your crystal. Anakin was a little too preoccupied with everything going on at that time to do that.
