Lost and found.

District Gamma, District Gamma.. Nina kept repeating the district over and over in her head. Apparently she was housed there, but she didn’t exactly know where it was. Her first visit to Hive City had been rather short, so she hadn’t exactly gotten around to learning all the districts and their locations. For all she knew, she could be stood in the right place right this very moment.

Ahh, it was a pain trying to navigate such a huge area without a map. Her talents lay with medicine, not navigation. After a few moments of trudging around in a rather confused circle, Nina thought it best to approach someone for help. Preferably the least intimidating looking person she stumbled upon.

“Excuse me, Miss? I.. think I’m a little lost.” Gosh, she only hoped the stranger wouldn’t think of her as a bother.

The small form of the nurse-in-training melted into the much larger male. It was so good to see him. So, so good. She’d found him much quicker than she had done the first time around. There was no where near as much stress or fear. That was nice.

At the other’s gentle touch, a large grin curled her lips. To a stranger, it must have been hard to image such a man having such a gentle touch. But, he was a big softy when he wanted to be. She was happy that she was lucky enough to bond with him. It made life in Ergastulum a lot less lonely. Plus, adventure always came with it. Though she feared for his safety, she’d learnt many new medical procedures due to him and Worrick getting into trouble.

When Nicolas began to sign back, she huffed and stuck her tongue out. He was always such a tease. Wait.. What was he - ? Hey - !

She squirmed and snorted softly, flicking his large hand with her much smaller one. After a moment, she recomposed herself and the smile found it’s way to her lips once again. “Mhm!” Nina nodded, taking a moment to think. 👋 I saw Worrick and Alex! It was only for a moment, but I saw them! Though.. 👋 She paused, glancing around at her surroundings.  👋 It wasn’t long until I was back here again. 👋 She hardly minded, though. She had Nicolas.

Glancing to the floor for a moment, she rocked on her heels. They were fine. She would have to reassure him of that. They missed him, of course, but they were fine, all things considered. She looked back up, just in time to catch what Nicolas was signing. “Ah!” Nina pursed her lips, not entirely sure how to sign her reply. Instead, she settled for simply speaking aloud.

“I think it was called District Gamma? I haven’t been there before, so I don’t really know much about it. I didn’t get an apartment this time, either, so I’m not entirely sure where to go.”

To think she was actually back here again. To think she’d actually left, only to return. What a cruel joke. Though, of course, things were different the second time around. There wasn’t as much fear, or as much unfamiliarity. Sure, this place was still very big and she knew for a fact she was going to get lost, but it wasn’t quite as bad as it had first been. That she was grateful for.

As she walked, there was an evident confidence in her step. She knew exactly what she wanted, needed, to do. If she was correct, Nicolas was still here. Not back at Benriya, like she would’ve hoped, but still trapped in this City. As she walked, quietly searching for her Tagged friend, she couldn’t help but drift off into her thoughts. Was it safer here for Nicolas? Tagged weren’t treated as badly here, were they? But, also, did they have the medicine he needed? She couldn’t help but worry about her deaf friend. She just.. wanted him safe. Out of harms reach. But, Nina knew that was wishful thinking.

It’d been at least two hours since she’d started her search, but she wasn’t going to give up. It wasn’t like she had anything to do, or anywhere to be. Heck, they hadn’t even given her an apartment this time round. She wasn’t sure where she was supposed to go. Trust her luck, she was housed in District Gamma, one of the roughest districts, apparently.

Snapping from her thoughts long enough to notice a particularly familiar set of broad shoulders, Nina let out a loud sigh of relief. She didn’t even give it a second thought, that was him. Without thinking, she quickly tackled him, arms tightly wrapping around his middle. Hopefully she didn’t startle him. She just.. missed him a lot.

As she pulled away, she quickly signed to him.

A month. She's actually been here for a month.

The small girl stared down at the phone in her hands, mixed feelings consuming her. Back home, she never would've had the luxury of something like this, but this place still wasn't home to her. She'd really been away for that long? How was Dr. Theo doing? How was anyone doing?

She bit down on her bottom lip, blinking away tears. It was okay; this was okay. It wasn't home, but she had friends here, people who she cared about. It wouldn't hurt to stay a little longer (not that she really had a choice).

" I miss home. "

Nina dabbed at her eyes, sniffling softly and forcing a smile. 'I'm fine. I should be happy, right?'

The small girl beamed and rocked on the balls of her feet. Ah, she loved meeting new people! It was a bonus when they were nice to her. 

Honestly, being in a different universe wasn't all that bad to Nina. Back home, things were very rough. There was danger everywhere; gangs, gun fights, you name it, it was there. There were also Twilights, which were a superhuman race native to her home world. They weren't all that bad- some were nice, but they were the main reason as to why there was always a weekly bloodbath. Heck, the guy she was looking for was a Twilight! A sweet one, at that. She wasn't sure how Tadashi would react to knowing that, so she kept that little bit of information to herself.

" I.. I know it's risky! But.. I want to try. I don't want to get anyone hurt in the process, but I really want to try.. "

She dropped her gaze to the floor, fingers twiddling nervously. She was only twelve, but she was determined to find her friend, even if it meant going to the bad sector. Nicolas meant so much to her; he saved her countless times, and she had saved him, too. A Twilight has to take specific medication; to keep themselves balanced and, well, alive. Nicolas always overdosed; he never followed the correct dosage. If she was with him, at least then she'd be able to treat him if he messed up at all.

" Thank you.. "

She still couldn't thank this guy enough.

She let out a soft sigh of relief. As long as she wasn’t causing him trouble! She gave him a rather big smile, very much so appreciative of his reassurance.

” Thank you! ”

She bowed her head slightly, still feeling as though she could do more in order to show her gratitude. Most people she bumped into left her feeling rather anxious and uncomfortable; there were hardly any people she could comfortably approach. But, this guy didn’t seem bad at all. She didn’t feel the need to flee first chance she got.

” Ah! I can’t believe I forgot to introduce myself! I’m Nina, it’s nice to meet you, Tadashi. ”

She was the worst at introducing herself. She once had an hour long conversation with someone before she remember to tell them her name; and that was because they’d brought it up first!

” I can’t say I really know where he’d be.. He could be anywhere, honestly. But, he is a tough guy, so.. ”

A frown curved her lips as a thought popped into her head.

” He.. Might be in one of the rougher sectors.. ”

She let out a small noise of frustration. She didn’t want to drag Tadashi into somewhere dangerous! Her home was particularly rough (alright, that was an understatement), so she knew how to work her way around dark areas. She certainly didn’t want to throw the other into that.

” Maybe I should just put ’ If found, return to Nina ’ posters everywhere, haha.. ”
