male entitlement in academic spaces is so boring. can’t tell you how many times i’ve been in a class and a girl gives a short, insightful analysis, and then a dude raises his hand and says “jumping off of that…” then says literally the same thing she said but longer and worse.

Finding out people are actually slash gen not taught to Actually Read in school in favor of just looking at the words for half a second and keeping it moving whether you understand it or not is crazy but does explain a lot of things

I'm not convinced that was Jeebh. I actually think it might've been Lizel wearing Jeebh's disguise. She doesn't like Lango, she's already made it pretty clear that she wants Jeebh to suffer, and we know it's entirely possible to use another Granute's human disguise. And Jeebh never talks in that scene with Shouma, goes out of his way to avoid doing so in fact.
The one problem is that beforehand we get the scene of Jeebh asking Lizel what Lango's plan is, which seems like it should be set-up for Jeebh then telling Shouma. But that can just as easily be set-up for Jeebh seeing Shouma kill Lango: He turns up, intending to help with the plan, only to see that happen.

I've been turning over in my head why the Master's reintroduction waaay back in Ten and Martha's season worked and the Rani's reintroduction this season didn't, and I think it comes down to the fact that nothing about the Master's reintroduction required you to know who the Master is.
Because in Utopia, the crux of the reveal isn't 'hey guys the Master's back,' it's 'after three seasons of the Doctor as Last of the Time Lords, there's another one, and he's bad.' All the information you need to chart the emotional impact of that reveal is either in New Who prior to that episode (the Doctor being the last Time Lord, the Doctor bigging up how powerful and influential the Time Lords were, the Doctor himself being a nigh-unstoppable genius), or is established very quickly afterwards (Derek Jacobi playing Yana's complete death of personality as he goes from kindly old man to scenery-chewing villain, the Master and the Doctor talking to each other in a way that clearly indicates they know each other well, the parallels set up between them selling the idea that the Master is as much a nigh-unstoppable genius as the Doctor).
Whereas here, the Rani is introduced in a stinger at the end of an episode that has nothing to do with her, and it's dropped in with bizarrely little fanfare. She bigenerates, someone asks who she is, and she goes "Oh, I'm the Rani," with the sort of tacit expectation audiences will know who that is.
A few thoughts about Wish World:
It should have been Susan giving the Doctor the message that made him realise that tables don't do that. No offence to Rogue fans, but there's no reason he should have been able to send that message, and we'd been reminded of who Susan is in the previous episode. Some casual viewers will have forgotten who Rogue is.
The reveal that this is the Rani should have happened when she reveals this to the Doctor. When you're re-introducing a character last properly seen in the 80's, you've got to treat it as introducing a new character. The impact of last week's reveal relies on knowing who The Rani is. Without that context, a lot of the impact is removed from people who haven't seen the 80's stuff. Putting the reveal in this episode would have made it more like the reveal that Missy is the Master in Dark Water. It raises the impact for all fans, especially newcomers. And isn't that what RTD keeps saying these two series are for? A good jumping on point?
Mrs Flood (still credited that way) does not act like the Rani. Yes, Time Lord personalities shift with each regeneration, but she does not act like the Rani, all the Rani bits were left to the Rani. Unless things change next week, the bigeneration should have been scrapped, and she should have been the Rani's assistant, like the guy in Dimensions in Time.

crazy how every time a female character gets cliche misogynistic writing we have to explain to people again that fictional characters are not real and do not choose things for themselves.

Yeah, what it amounts to ultimately is that they want to be The Only Audience That Matters because it's an expression of social power -- both in that it positions them as the default and the majority, and insofar as it means they can exert force on the industry by withholding their money. Conversely, they hate anything that caters to Not Them because that expresses that they don't hold all the power here: There are other audiences significant enough that a profit-driven company considers them valuable enough to cater to.
(That, and a surprising amount of gamers seem to genuinely struggle with the idea of 'the presence of something doesn't mean you have to do it.' I remember seeing a mod for Final Fantasy XVI that removes the optional accessories you can put on your character that make the game easier -- a mod that represents a significant amount of skill and effort put towards a goal that could be accomplished in 0 seconds by just not wearing those accessories.)
There's also this Gamer Behavior (derogatory) where I see these folks going off the rails about having a meltdown because of something that is 100% optional.
Taash exists as a nonbinary romance option. They have optional side quests regarding their exploration of their nonbinary identity. You 100% do not have to do any of this and can in fact ignore Taash 99% of the time and the worst that will happen is MAYBE not getting the exact ending you wanted from the final battle. Maybe. Because you don't have to send Taash at all if you make other character choices.
But cue freak out over the game forcing you to gender them correctly and forcing them as a romance onto you etc etc. I did not romance Taash and found it quite easy to not pursue that option actually. I did do their character side quests but only because if I'm paying that much money for a game I'm doing alllllll the things including the optional stuff.
You have the option of top surgery scars and colored hair and more in the character creator. You can just as easily not have these things on your character and instead look like something else. You do not need to put any character traits on your character that you don't want to.
But cue freak out about normalizing mental illness and transgender traits and SJW aesthetic. It's woke now. Top surgery scars are by default turned off and you have to locate it within the menu and then press buttons to turn them on. Somehow that is seen as forcing them onto the player.
You have the option of romancing a man and a nonbinary character as Yasuke. To be entirely clear there are also women available for Yasuke and in order to romance the other two you have to like, deliberately put forth effort into chasing them. This is not a Gale BG3 situation where being mildly nice to him turns him into an incel that refuses to leave you alone- it very clearly lays out that if you choose these options this character will take it as pursuit of a romance. The easiest option is to simply not do that.
But cue freak out about how Ubisoft is forcing the gay agenda on you and making you be gay and witness gay things. You literally do not have to do this. There's even a setting which you can turn off romance options entirely. If it bothers you that much, you can skip over it completely, or go kiss a different person besides either of the queer romances.
Within the game itself you don't really have to play as Yasuke outside of a very limited number of quests. You can actually play entirely as Naoe and ignore that Yasuke exists for the bulk of the game. Naoe is the much more Assassin's Creed style character as she relies heavily on stealth tactics and does poorly when outnumbered and surrounded (ask me how I know lmao) compared to Yasuke who is much more an Eivor situation of a wrecking ball in combat but sucks at parkour and stealth.
But cue freak out about how these guys think it's stupid that a 6ft tall black dude built like a wall of muscle would be in a stealth game. Yeah uh the game actually tells you straight up that if you want to do stealth you need to be Naoe because Yasuke kinda doesn't blend in. "How is this guy standing on rooftops not being seen" he actually goes get spotted and quite readily on every difficulty except the easiest because the man is 6 feet tall with nearly jet black skin and that sort of is a bit out of place in a setting like idk feudal Japan. You can switch between them- so once the game opens up and gives you the option you genuinely can just ignore Yasuke if you want to play as the series-typical assassin instead of the RPG tank.
Really the problem is that these Gamers (derogatory) have a difficult time with "other people besides you like playing these games" because they already have what they are asking for but they're mad that there is the option to do something they specifically dislike.
