Work Out Wednesdays!
Tumblr media
Back, Biceps Day!
I’ve always struggled to follow through with going to the gym consistently. I set unrealistic goals for myself, just getting myself up for failure and disappointment. Having to have a reason to go to the gym. Like vacation, a job ( working at a bar during Stampede ) and all the other expiring reasons that all have an end date. This time yes I have a reason in mind but also plan to continue through once that reason becomes reality. There is a fire lite inside me that gives me that extra push I need.
This time my goal seems reasonable. I have to go 4 weekdays a week. If I do not succeed in going 4 weekdays I have to go on the weekends. Background story as to why I’ve set this goal like this is usually before I only made it to the gym 2 days maybe 3 a week so I figured, if that continues and I only made it 2 weekdays I can still reach my goal by doing Saturday and Sundays. See it’s realistic and doable! I’m setting myself up for success! I have 1 freebie day a weekday a week that if I wake up to tired I can skip the gym, gives me the option to not feel guilty or down on myself for skipping the gym. I also don’t rush or get down on myself if I don’t make it the full hour and 20 minutes I hope to. My attitude is I get there when I get there and I make the most of the time I’m there. Pushing myself extra hard and usually every ounce of energy I have.
Usually my work out is 50 minutes to an hour and 20 minutes each day. I aim to do 2 muscle groups a day and a mini core/abs every other day. I used to do 20-30 minutes of cardio but now I skip it all together as I try to take the kids on a 5km walk each day or around there and get atleast 15,000 steps a day in!
The way I train my muscle groups are as follows: my main muscle group listed first I usually spend 45 minutes doing and the secondary muscle group anywhere from 15-20 minutes then 5 minute mini an or core circuit with only one one minute break. I do try to switch it up every other week or 3 weeks to doing the secondary muscle group as my main one and my primary as my secondary. Ect. Shoulders is usually my main and abs secondary but every few weeks I will do abs as my main and shoulders as my secondary.
Usually my main muscle group has 5-6 exercises including drop sets and supersets and secondary 3-4 exercises.
Main & Secondary
Shoulders & Abs
Chest & Triceps
Back & Biceps
Legs - leg day is a day I spend just doing legs usually about an hour of squats, lunges, leg curls ect then 20 minutes on hip flexors and glutes.

Meal Prep Monday’s Late posting this as I was trying to get my first 2 posts up yesterday. Better late then never. Plus got to put yesterday and todaymeal ideas up! On Sundays I meal prep at home for what I am going to have for lunches and snacks through the week at work. Then Monday morning during 1st nap I meal prep for the day and a couple following days for the kids. The top photo is what the Nanny Share drawer at one of my families house looks like. To the left is all the food for the munchkins then to the right is all my food. This week the Nannies meal plan is: Breakfast: 1/3 cup egg whites Post Work out meal: Strawberry Maca Protein Smoothie 1 cup unsweetened Almond Milk 1/2 cup PC 2% Vanilla Greek Yogurt 1 cup frozen strawberries 1 scoop lean fit vanilla protein powder 1 1/2 tsp raw maca powder Lunch: Salad boats: Photos 1&2 2 leafs of Romano lettuce .5 Oz each of cucumber and carrots 2 Oz of cooked shredded chicken breast 1/4 of avocado Drizzle of HP Sweet Thia Chili Sauce Macros: 5.5 g Fat, 5.4 g Carbs, 16.5 g Protein For snacks: I usually have about 2-3 cups of cup up watermelon, 1 cup cantaloupe, 1 cup grapes, 1/3 cup roasted almonds, 1 whole cucumber w/2 tbsp Dilly Dip and as a treat a few of these amazing locally made Japanese Truffles form Coconama http://www.coconama.com/. It is my new addiction, I have recently become a chocolate addict and these always seem to hit the spot! I only need 2-3 to totally satisfy my chocolate craving. I try not to deprive myself of things I’m craving and if possible satisfying the cravings with a healthier option (I’ll have a post later this week about food cravings and what your bodies telling you). The Kids meal plan: Snacks: Berries, cucumber, avocado, apple sauce and like squeezes, cheese, Cheerios, plain yogurt with puréed fruit like berries Lunches: M-Whole wheat Banana Oat pancakes/waffles shown in picture 6 Tu-Apple Carrot Chicken Patties/waffles shown in picture 4/5 W- Sweet Potato Tuna Bites Th- Rainbow Pasta Salad F- left overs or grill cheese If you’d like any of these recipes just comment below and I’ll be sure to post them! The feature this week is Today lunch Apple Carrot Chicken Partites/waffles 1 1/2 C each of grated apple & carrots 1 cup grated sweet potato * I wash really well and leave the skin on as it is loaded in nutrients 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 1 small chicken breast minced by hand 1 whole egg 1 cup quick oats Mix all ing. In a large mixing bowl. Either bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes or put in waffle iron on medium browning heat for 5-7 minutes. I was unsure if cooking chicken in a waffle iron but under great inspection all the chicken was cooked through after 6 minutes. * I have one very advanced 1 year old who eats awesome and then 1 progressing a little slow so I like to mince the chicken by hand as I find a great happy medium for the advanced eater but then small enough for the little one who’s still learning how to chew as well as different textures. **I try my best to cook whatever I’m making 2 different ways, the waffle iron is my new obsession. I find this helps the kids learn different food textures but has the same taste. I was a picky eater as a child due to not being a fan of textures food. I still am to this day haha so exposing the little ones to new textures as much as you can will help progress their eating habits and likes.

About the Nanny: I am a 25 year old who recently just moved to beautiful Vancouver to follow my amazing fiancé and his career. I currently work as a full time nanny, in a nanny share position caring for 2- 1 year olds; a boy and a girl. I am a fur baby momma to a 5 year old girl Maltipoo who I have had since 10weeks old. I was born and grew up in a big city, moved to a small town found the “country” way of life: the real true version of myself, and now have found my way back to the city life of the go go go life style again but still staying true to the real raw version of myself. My passion is childcare, I put 200% into my job every day! In my opinion it has to be the most rewarding job there is out there. Sure there are some rough days or weeks but when I take a step back, take a deep breath and remember just how special the bond I have with each child is; it is the most amazing feeling ever.
************* My hobbies are: •Cooking- transforming comfort food and treats to healthy options •Crafting- recently just got a Cricut and enjoy making new projects. Using it to make lots of my wedding decor, favours and lots more •Working out- I’ve struggled over the years following through and sticking to a plan. I find I always have to have something I’m working towards to follow through. Either a trip, vacation , summer ect. But this time I have a fire lite inside me to just do it for me and to be healthy and happy. Other new hobbies I’m dabbling in right now: •Yoga, pushing a double stroller up lots of hills a day has really activated my not so young body anymore so stretching out seems to help wonders. Plus I find it to be very challenging, relaxing and great way to destress. •Hiking, having the country way of life embedded in me now I think this is something I will truly enjoy and what better city to explore that in than beautiful Vancouver. My strengths •Organizing- I am OCD organizer. If there’s a way to make a spreadsheet for it then I’m at it. I love planning events and parties. My wedding has been by far my favourite thing to plan! •Cooking- I love to cook and recently took baking a little more seriously My weaknesses •Being social and out going. Having anxiety my whole life hasn’t made this an easy task for me but I’m working on stepping outside of my comfort zone. •Text book skills- reading, writing, spelling grammar are absolutely my worst skills. I have great common sense skills show me something hands on and I’ll learn it put a book I front of me and tell me to learn it doesn’t go so well. How I got to where I am in my career today: Starting waaaay back when... My mom ran a dayhome from or home from when I was 1-13 years old until we moved. I showed interest at a very young age in caring for children. I always joke I was changing diapers when I was out of diapers. I took pride and really enjoyed being able to help my mom with the dayhome kids. Any chance I got to feed a baby a bottle or teach a little one sign language I was over the moon. I would much rather spend my time caring for kids then playing with kids my own age. When I was 8 I finally convinced my mom I was responsible enough to take the babysitting course then it’s history from there. I took every opportunity I could to babysit all my moms dayhome kids in their house while their parents went out to run errands or sport events ect. When I was 13 we moved to a small town called Castlegar, it’s a pretty small close knit town where every one knows everyone. I had a hard time finding families to babysit for but managed to find a few. I ended up working in customer service/ fast food most of my high school years and a little after. As soon as I made the move to Calgary to follow my then boyfriend, now fiancé, to finish up his college education I took the leap into childcare as a nanny and now am forever hooked. I think it is the most rewarding job there is. Every day I get to watch little humans become themselves and explore the world before them. I had a rough start in my nanny career taking on the most awful family but I didn’t get discouraged. A month after I quit with the first family I found my dream nanny family, a family of 5. 3 amazing little girls ages at the time I started we’re twins 3 years old and a 5 year old. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies to start but as they began to trust me, open their hearts to me and respect me our bond grew stronger and stronger. After 20 months of working for them it was time to move on. I truly miss them every day and think of them all the time. I hope the love and bond I grew with each one of them makes it hard to ever forget me and they feel secure knowing I am always there for them. But now here I am in a Nanny share position, which is a whole new ball game, with 2- 1 year old a boy and a girl. Getting to watch them grow and hit all the milestones ahead of them. I’ve only been their nanny for a month now but can’t wait for the many more months to come.

I decided to make an Instagram account and tumblr blog to help motivate, inspire and give away my tips and tricks to other nannies just like me. Blogging my journey of being a nanny who finds ways to practice self care, be an attentive caring nanny as well as a loving partner. I want to help fellow nannies be all those things and more. As well as find a balance between being a caregiver for not only the children but their families but also balance in their personal life. Compassionate fatigue is real and unfortunately something every caregiver will struggle with at one point in their career. This instagram will have everything kid and nanny related. From healthy quick recipes for adults and kids friendly meals, activities and crafts for children, motivational and inspiring quotes, exercises, ways to practice self care, beauty tips for what I call the “nanny look” as well as some personal real life struggles and how I coped with it. It will be raw and real, no filters and no sugar coating; a transparent account you can see through and through. I hope you fellow nannies or even moms find it helpful and enjoy! ❤️ ** I am in no way a personal trainer (that’s what my sister is for ☺️), dietitian or doctor but I like to think after 17 years being in the childcare industry I am full of knowledge from my experiences. Everything posted is from my personal experience, my opinions and recommendations. Also English and grammar has always been my weakest trait so please don’t mind bad grammar or spelling. Like I said this is raw, real and in the moment experiences. #yvrnanny #fitnanny101 #nannylife #nannylifestyle #nannyshare #children #motivational #tipsandtricks #recipes #healthylifestyle #crafts #childreneducation #anythingkids
