an excerpt of a game night fic that I wrote because college is stressful and the band playing Uno isn’t

Carlos had found out about the guys last night, but somehow he had totally taken it in stride, his biggest question being whether they had met the French Dip Ghost (TM) rather than being worried about the fact that three of the undead lived in their garage. 

As “payment” for him being sworn to secrecy and therefore losing any prior, albeit minuscule, chance of fame with his Carlos the Ghost Toaster Youtube channel, he requested a game night. A request that Julie honestly thought would not be that hard to fulfill...

But for people who shared a single brain cell, they sure couldn’t agree on anything.

Apparently Alex won Go Fish WITHOUT FAIL in a way that was annoyingly inevitable, Scrabble had been Bobby’s thing, and Luke “felt weird” about the Game of Life because, and Julie quotes, “No one should trust me with children, even if they’re one centimeter tall, plastic children whose only purpose is to be a part of what the game creator arbitrarily defined as ‘success.’”

i’m so upset that fanfiction made me like bobby because like he’s not dead like the rest of the boys and like oh if i like him i should be glad he’s not dead right wrong because in this case being dead means being with the rest of the boys and I want the squad together and imagine if it was reversed and alex was a vegetarian and didn’t die and he was a 40 year old man right now and his friendship with his three best friends was broken and could never be the same as it once was because they didn’t grow up together because they couldn’t and sure he made mistakes but like he thought he was going to go through life with his found family and then they all leFt and he was aLone and i am uPset and life was easier when I simply ✨hated bobby✨but twelve bobby-apologist fanfictions later and here i am

some headcanons for my sappy platonic-affection-craving-loving ass (these are not romantic !!!!!!!!)

- i like to imagine keefe as, like, a big gangly cat. he likes draping himself over people’s backs, putting his head on their laps, resting his chin on on top of sophie shorter people’s heads

- just!! everyone’s chilling or something and keefe, exhausted, just plops his head down on sophie’s lap and without even thinking about it she starts stroking his hair

- fitz and keefe have a pretty brotherly friendship; think bro hugs, where they clasp hands and slap each other’s backs, playful punches, bear hugs, etc.

- fitz gives the best hugs out of all of them,, it’s just something about him… he has big arms and he’s so warm and soft.. and also he smells good

-  biana’s big on forehead kisses; she’ll give sophie forehead kisses when visiting her at elwin’s, brushing back fitz’s hair to kiss his forehead, etc.

- sophie and dex can be very physically affectionate with each other; they like sitting back to back while studying, resting their legs on each other, leaning heads on shoulders, etc. ((although they get very embarrassed whenever someone comments on it))

- having practically grown up together, keefe and biana are pretty comfortable with each other: hair ruffles, shoulder punches, and high fives are common between them (when they were younger keefe liked to poke biana’s chubby cheeks)

- when tam and linh come along it’s a bit awkward, they don’t really know how they fit into this whole mess of friends

- tam gets especially prickly when keefe one time slings an arm around linh, and is just plain confused when dex tries to give him a fist bump

- eventually they all work together; biana will casually link arms with tam when theyre walking next to each other. sophie manages to get a hug out of him one time

- linh loves her friends! but is shy about initiating contact with them

- biana picks up on this: she’ll nudge linh’s shoulder and whisper jokes in her ear, grab her hand and drag her places, lean on her shoulder and all that. the two eventually have a lot of inside jokes

- fitz and dex evolve to have weird, teasing interactions: fitz will casually rest his elbow on top of dex’s head, dex will kick fitz in the shin if he says something stupid, aggresive shoulder bumping—you get the idea

- group hangouts usually consist of keefe lying across three people, and by the end everyone’s leaning on each other’s shoulders and dozing off.

(i had some angstier hcs but i didnt want to ruin this post so if people like this one i’ll make another)

Ricky Headcanon

He gets his trinkets/jewellery from people he has a strong connection with.

The ring comes from his dad. Passed down from generation to generation. It's Ricky's grandad's first wedding ring - the family ring - and at 14 when Ricky begins showing signs of anxiety and develops little nervous ticks; Mike decides it's time to pass the ring down again. Ricky only takes it off to wash dishes, and he wears it on his pointer finger so it's always in sight, even when he's tapping away on his phone. Ricky tends to twirl it when he's feeling stressed, nervous, upset, or is lying through his teeth - and Mike takes notice and tries to de-escalate the situation as much as possible.

The hat Gina gives him he rarely wears. After she moves away, he's kinda scared to. Incase it tears or gets ripped or becomes dirty. He doesn't want it to shrink or get lost - so he hooks it over his bedpost and leaves it there. Because it's safe there, safer than it would be on him.

The dog tags are from Nini. Obviously. They represent a range of things. Friendship. Old love. New love. Second chances. Unity. The 'Start of Something New'. He lets the metal hang down his chest, resting by his heart and keeping apart of Nini close after he'd missed her for so long. After he'd lost her. When she isn't there to give him a pep talk, he runs his fingers over the engraving in the metal and it tides him over until he can shakily release all the baggage - so that Nini can help him work through the anxiety stuffed in the side pockets; and memories of his parents falling out of love that he's wedged in the toe of the shoe of ignorance.

Ricky probably has a cluster of keychains from Big Red. It starts when they're eight, and they win cheesy BFF heart keyrings that stick together with little magnets with their arcade tickets. Since then they buy eachother a strange keyring as part of their birthday present, so now Ricky and Big Red have like ten multicoloured keychains each that can be squeezed, popped, clicked, pulled, or pressed in a way that makes them move, sing, or light up. It's stupid, but it's them.

Lynne doesn't get the memo, not that there was one to give. She never really connected with Ricky. Never really understood him, and honestly he's not sure she ever truly tried. She buys and gives him stuff - don't get him wrong - but nothing of great emotional value. Nothing he would care if he lost.

But if Ricky lost the other things? Panic. Absolute frenzy. That kid would be having a miniature heart attack and wouldn't be able to breathe. He takes off the ring to wash dishes and it isn't there? He panics. Mike has learnt the hard way after bringing Ricky down from a particularly bad panic attack, that he shouldn't move the ring to the mantlepiece without telling his kid.

The keyrings go missing? Ricky texts Big Red and apologises. Over and over again. Big Red facetimes him with a smile, calms down his best friend and begins listing places that Ricky could have left them. 'Are they in your jacket you wore two days ago at rehearsal?'. 'Did you put them in your drawer?'. 'Did you leave them in your living room?'. And somehow, Big Red always knows where to find them.

The dog tags he only takes off when he sleeps, because Ricky's a mover. He wriggles, twists and turns - and the first night he had them he woke up with his arm caught in the chain and the metal tightening around his throat. But they're slippery things. Very easy to knock off his bedside table. So when Ricky rushes down the stairs; hair in messy curls sticking in different directions, and clears his throat as Mike burns yet another batch of toast - his dad knows it's time to help his son shift the bedside table and lift his bed so that Ricky can peer down the sides with his phone flashlight. If Ricky's hands brush against the woolen hat on his bedpost as he stretches down, he doesn't mention it.

Because Ricky has lost so much. Lost things. Lost people. But losing stuff like this, that holds so much history despite their appearance - feels even worse to him than it would to anybody else.

headcanons til Legacy day 4

headcanon 4; fitz knows that he needs to work on his anger. he really does know. he just doesn't know how to deal with it. the lost cities has never had someone like this, like him, who needs help. never. he's talked to sophie, she told him most humans get therapy, he's never heard of it. he doesn't talk to his parents about it, until they are the ones to talk to him. but they can't help, nobody reay can. it's not until sophie manages to track someone down who can act like a therapist, forkle and gets them meetings set up. it helps so much. he never realized how bad it was until then. it took a while, but soon, he had it under control, everything was okay-ish.

Everyone knows Granny is a terrible driver, and most of the time it’s not a big deal. Mr. Canis can drive, and so can Uncle Jake, Henry, and Veronica.

Unfortunately, they’re not always available. This week is one of those times. Uncle Jake is off doing… something. Something too dangerous for Puck to come (Puck pouted for about six hours when Jake told him that). Mr. Canis has a broken arm because he keeps forgetting that he’s pretty much a regular old man now and he can’t do things like catch stupid four-year-olds when they try to do dumb things like jump off the roof (Basil cried apologies the whole way to the emergency room). Henry and Veronica are in the city for their jobs.

Sabrina thought she’d wanted to go back to NYC. Once she got there, though, it was too hard to forget all the bad things that had happened to her there. And then, when Moth did that whole kidnapping-and-trying-to-kill-her thing again, they’d decided to up and move back in with Granny, to Daphne’s delight. But the jobs were still in the city, so during the week Henry and Veronica were often away for days at a time. Sabrina had a cell phone now, and she made them video chat her every day. Just in case. (The first time Veronica forgot Sabrina had nearly had a panic attack. She’s better now. Mostly.)

Anyway, the long and the short of it is that Granny had to drive Mr. Canis to the ER. Everyone else came, too, for various reasons. Sabrina came because Basil refused to be left at home (“What if Mr. Canis dies, Sabby? What if he dies and it’s my fault?”) and, even though she knew it was stupid, she had the vague idea that if she was in the car, she could Granny from driving everyone off the road.

They’re on their way back, now. Mr. Canis, a little out of it on the painkillers they’d put in his IV, crossed himself before he got into the car, which Sabrina completely understands.

The car always runs louder than usual when Granny is driving it, but Sabrina can still hear squeals of glee over the noise as she’s pulled by centrifugal force against the door, so hard her head cracks against the window. One of the people screaming like this is a theme park ride is Puck, of course. The other one, surprisingly, is Red.

Sabrina works her arm up between her head and the window and braces herself. With her other hand, she grabs Basil’s booster seat, white-knuckle tense.
