Seagate - Dropped - Damaged Heads Can you see it??? Well, that's why we have a close-up. This drive was dropped and clicked. The customer opened the drive and the heads were suck on the platter. Without the proper environment and tools, the heads were moved back. This caused the drive to have scratches and damage to the heads to no point of return. Toshiba - Clicking Drive - Lost Power Just checked in a drive where our customer had lost power and the drive doesn't power on anymore. Diagnosis: We opened the drive cover in our Clean Room and unfortunately, it didn't look good at all. The read/write heads are completely torn off. Dog Chewed USB - Data Recovery I had a customer's dog chew their USB and now it's not functional. Update: We replaced the USB connector on the drive and unfortunately, we still can't get to the data. We are 90% sure the issue is a corrupt/damaged NAND.

Drive Clicking - Powered On Too Many Times Here is an example of a drive that is clicking or was clicking and non longer powers on. Data Recovery - Clicking - Platter Damage Wanted to share this case with you guys. Our customer's drive fell and was making constant clicking sounds. Our customer powered on the drive 2 times for about 5 minutes each time. We opened the drive cover in our Clean Room and initially everything looked great. The top platter was clean, no visible scratches. But when we removed the read/write heads and inspected the sliders under the microscope, it wasn't good :(. We decided to remove the platter from the drive to inspect the condition of Platter 0.
