I cracked phone screen but it still works, should I get it fixed?

If you’re like me your cellphone probably has a cracked phone screen but it’s still working. It seems every phone I own the screen eventually cracks. I used to get it fixed right away if I had the money but sometimes I never bothered. Nowadays I wait until the phone stops working even if I can afford to fix it. I think the best thing to do is keep a second phone handy just in case.

Recently I had to go on a business trip and had cracked phone screen so I took a chance and didn’t fix it. This was a bad decision because the first day into my trip it stopped working all together. I couldn’t find a place that would fix it so I missed a couple of really important calls. From this point on if my cellphone screen is cracked and I have to leave town I’m going to fix it first.

What do you do when you cracked phone screen?

My friend said he always gets his phone fixed as soon as possible. One time he used his phone for a while with a broken screen only to get it wet. When he tried to get it fixed the shop couldn’t get it to turn on again and he lost the use of the phone. This was a real bummer because he didn’t back it up and he lost all of his data. This is probably my biggest fear with my cellphone, losing my data.

I guess there is no definite answer how long a cracked screen will keep working. It could work for a day or weeks, even months before it stops working. I keep my data backed up regularly so I can gamble a little if my screen is broken. I guess if the cost to fix my broken screen is cheap enough than fixing right away is the smarted choice. I try to keep a case on it these days and that really helps.

My iPad screen cracked and I want to get it fixed. I brought to my local repair store that fixed my sons iPad cracked screen last month. When they told how much it would cost I almost lost it. The LCD is the part of the screen that shows the picture, just like a TV or Monitor. It’s the most expensive part of any screen assembly. When the front glass is cracked on an iPad that has separate parts, it’s an inexpensive repair. But when the parts are fused together it becomes more expensive because both need to be replaced. So I found out why my iPad Air 2 cracked screen costs twice as much to repair than my son’s iPad Air. The difference between the two was how the screen assembly was constructed. Even though my LCD was not broken, it had to be replaced. My wife and I agreed to make sure we let the kids only use the iPad that has separate glass and LCD. Because even if it’s in a case they still find a way to crack the iPad screen.

iPhone XR Repair - How can I repair my iPhone XR by myself?

I dropped my iPhone XR and both the front and back cracked. I don’t have Apple care so bringing to the genius bar is not an option. I got a quote from a third party repair store but it’s still expensive. I got the iPhone XR because it was the cheapest of the newest phones. So I decided to go to online and see if there was any DIY videos and iPhone XR repair by myself

First Thing Needed Is iPhone XR Repair kit

The first thing I found out was the special tools I would need. Apparently the iPhone XR repair requires special screwdrivers that you can’t but from the local hardware store. I had to purchase a repair kit specifically for the iPhone X, it wasn’t expensive though. The next thing I need to purchase was a replacement screen. I found out that there were a couple different grades of quality and I decided to get the cheapest one. To my surprise and disappointment none of the screens that are sold online are genuine Apple parts. This made me a little nervous but there was no other option. I found out Apple and all the other manufacturers don’t sell any of their parts to the public. I purchased the screen that had a warranty and looked for the easiest to follow DIY video.

Repairing the screen was not difficult but it’s very important to be patient and follow the video. Many of the parts from the old screen need to be transferred to the new screen. This was the most difficult part because of the adhesive they use. I had to use my hair dryer to heat up the glue so it was easy to remove. I was really careful and you need to be. If you rip any of the cables you can disable the facial recognition and worse, disable the phone. The iPhone XR screen repair is not impossible but it is time consuming. The repair took over an hour to complete and that was just the front screen.

iPhone XR Back Glass Replacement

The back glass was cracked and after researching how to repair it, it’s going to stay cracked. There is no easy repair for the cracked back glass. The glue they use is impossible to remove by yourself. You can replace the whole frame but it’s not recommended. All in all it cost me less to fix it myself. If you’re not good with small tools and don’t have good hand-eye coordination I don’t recommend doing it. I got a good case that covers the back so for now it looks good.

I asked him if I’m trading it in than is it necessary to use the real part and they said no. As long as the device is not broken or water damaged, you can use any quality part.

Another reason why third party repair is cheaper than the Apple store, it’s what they do. Just like a car, it’s often cheaper to have it repaired by a third party service provider. They concentrate on repairs and service rather than sales. Fix iPhone cracked screen or any other screen repair is the lifeblood of a repair store. An added benefit using a third party repair store is the amount of time it takes to finish the repair. The Apple store told me I would have to pick up the device the next day. When I brought it to the third party store they said they could have it done in about a half an hour. I decided to fix iPhone 7 plus cracked screen at the third party store. It cost me less money, less time and I got a warranty on the part for a year. It’s been seven months since I had it repaired and so far its working fine. I suggest if you need to fix your iPhone 7 plus cracked screen or any other screen, is to shop around. There are some really good affordable and safe options out there.
