How do I charge a phone with a defective charger port?
A damaged charging port is one of the most common problems for phones and any other electronic devices. Smartphones usually suffer the most because they need to be recharged more often.
Fortunately, it is straightforward to charge the phone battery directly through a spare USB cable, and here's how to use a regular USB cable to charge the phone battery in an emergency:
Find a spare USB cable that you can work with. If you have any old or dead USB mouse or keyboard, you can use their USB cable.
Disconnect one end of the USB cable to reveal the four wires. These wires will be colour coded, and among the four wires, you only need the red and black wires. Instead of red and black, they can be coloured pink and blue on some cheaper USB cables instead of red and black.
Separate a few of these red and black wires. Touch the copper end of the red wire stripped from the positive terminal of the battery. Likewise, touch the black wire stripped copper end to the negative terminal of the battery. Use tape to secure it to the station carefully.
Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer. Wait for the battery to charge for 15-20 minutes, then remove the line.
Connect the battery to your phone, and it should work.
Ensure that this method should only be used in emergencies when another process does not work, and you have to use the phone quickly. The USB cable provides a voltage slightly above the battery rating and can damage it if you charge the battery for more than 15-20 minutes.
However, if you want to make sure that the problem is resolved quickly and professionally, contact us at Fix Station.

How to fix a broken charging port?
The problem with the charging port, which is broken, is that it is usually soldered to the main board of the device, and any authorized repair center will replace the mainboard only. After parts and Labour, replacing an appliance mainboard will likely cost the same as purchasing a new machine. You can bring it for diagnosis/estimate, but expect that you will have to replace the entire device honestly.
If replacing it isn't an option, you might be able to find a local mobile repair store that rebuilds the charging port.
One solution to fix this is explained with the steps mentioned below:
Start with an air duster and try to blow up Lent. Use short bursts so you don't start forming condensation and spraying moist air.
If the duster is not working alone or if you can still clearly see the lint in the hole, it is time to go a little more aggressive.
If you don't return to work after a toothpick, it's time to step it up and use a paperclip.
Finally, if you have been using your device for more than a year without cleaning Lent, you have likely left some residue, dirt and grease on the contacts, which may interfere with the connections.
The next step, assuming you didn't destroy the port entirely in step 4, is likely to try to level up the spring-like contacts inside the port. It appears that there are about 9 or 10 contacts that are spring/pressure contacts. You will need one of these lit magnifiers, or maybe you can use another phone (in camera mode, zoomed in) to see what you're doing.
So aft6er doing these steps, your charging port isn't completely 100% yet, but it can reliably charge it now. We hope this solution can help you, too. In the future, don't forget to blow out the port more often with a duster canister.

Does cable length affect mobile phone charging?
Did you know that the charging speed of a phone is directly proportional to the charger? A USB port and a data line are included in the charger. Is the smartphone's charging speed affected by the USB port or the data cable? Only after this issue is resolved so that the cell phone's charging rate does not degrade due to the wrong decision.
Very few people have access to technology. Most of us don't have, and sometimes we have questions that might seem trivial, but they just don't let us sleep.
When charging the phone, the USB terminal determines the amount of voltage and current. The standard charging head is marked with voltage and output current. If your mobile phone has compatibility with 5V / 2.4A or 12W charging, and the charging adapter is broken, you can replace it with a 5V / 1A or 5W charging head for mobile phone charging. The charging rate is typical. It will take longer than half the time.
The data line connects the phone to the charging head and is primarily responsible for current transmission, so it is unavoidable to slow down the charging process.
For example, a phone's power is comparable to that of a bucket, the charging head to that of a faucet, and the data line to that of a water pipe. Because the charging head cannot connect directly to the phone, the phone must be connected via the data cable. As a result, the charging speed affects both the charging head and then tap—the length of this water pipe's data line, and so on.
Furthermore, the length of the data line influence charging speed. The shorter the data line, the faster the charging speed.

Can You Use Alcohol Wipes to Clean Your Laptop?
A laptop is a susceptible electronic device that should get handled with proper care and delicacy. Its screen is composed of polarized glass and consists of a liquid crystal material sandwiched between the polarized glasses. Some laptops have a plastic screen with metallic outlines, while some screens are made of glass. Alcohol wipes can get used to clean laptops that are metallic or glassy, but you cannot use alcohol wipes on plastic screens. The keyboard can also get clean with the wipes, and you have to care about the amount of moisture.
How to Clean the Laptop’s Screen?
To clean the screen of a laptop with an alcohol wipe, you have to make sure of its composition. If it is made of glass, you can freely use wipes, but if it is made of plastic, you cannot. Any liquid cannot be spilled on the laptop screen as it is an electronic device, and excess liquid can destroy its working. You can use ALCOHOL WIPES on metal and glass but not on plastic material. Before using wipes, make sure you remove all dust and smudges from the screen with a clean microfiber cloth. Be gentle in cleaning the laptop’s screen, and do not press it harder. The cleaners having a large amount of alcohol can damage your laptop’s screen by disrobing anti-reflective coatings, and it will cause clouding and make screen composition worse.
How to Clean the Laptop’s Keyboard?
Keyboards can get gust in their edges and curves, and you can use an alcohol wipe to clean them. Wipe your keyboard with a swab dipped in an alcohol-water mixture but again, be careful about the amount of moisture. If you are using a wipe, press it gently in the spaces between the keyboard keys and remove the excess product. Do not use alcohol directly, and apply a slight amount of 70% Isopropyl Alcohol to a microfiber cleaning swab and use it carefully to clean or sanitize the keys on the keyboard. If you have extra sensitive LCD screens, you cannot use wipes because they cause smudges, scratches on the screen and form a layer. It is better to use a swab instead of a large piece of cloth because swabs can take out dirt from minor details and through the keyboard’s edges.
Some Essential Care Tips in Cleaning your Laptop
If you are cleaning your laptop with a wipe, make sure the device is unplugged.
First, clean the screen with a cloth to remove all the dust and smudges.
Do not use any liquid like alcohol directly on your screen.
You can use a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol in a proper ratio, like 70% alcohol and 30% water.
Spray it on the screen with a swab, then clean with a cloth or let it dry.
Wipe your whole screen and edges with a sufficient amount of alcohol-water spray
Try to avoid circular motions when wiping your screen
Do not buff a single particular spot
Use light pressure and sweeping motion from side to side
These are sensitive electronics, so be mindful of your technique

Is it Safe to Clean a Laptop's Screen with a Wet Wipe, or if not, or if there's a Better Method, what is it?
Laptop Screen Cleaning Methods:
After a while of using a laptop, its screen might collect dust or food particles that start to look very unattractive. A computer is a sensitive device and can get easily damaged, so it needs to be tended with care. Cleaning your laptop's screen with a wet wipe may dull its surface over time. A damp wipe can do your device more harm than good. A wet wipe does contain chemicals such as alcohol, acetic acid, bleach, ammonia, etc. all these chemicals can strip the coating of your laptop's screen.
Cleaning a laptop's screen with a wet wipe is the top way to screw up the screen. Avoid any paper products as well, since they are scratchy and can damage the screen.
The best advice for laptop owners can be to clean their laptop's screen with manufacturer recommended cleaning methods.
There are ways to clean your laptop's screen without causing it any damage. We have brought together in this article to ease your worries and guide you the right way.
Methods to Clean your Laptop's Screen:
Microfiber Cloth:
A simple microfiber cloth can do the job of safely cleaning your laptop's screen. It is convenient for cleaning all types of lenses and screens. This method is relatively easy and can be done in a few simple steps:
● Turn your device off and unplug the power adapter and battery. Don't just put your laptop on to sleep mode but turn everything off instead. Cleaning a screen in use can cause significant damage, so turn your laptop off and be on the safe side.
● Get a microfiber cloth. Microfiber is made with such a type of fabric that does not produce lint, and it is soft as well. If you use any washcloth or T-shirt, it can scratch your screen or leave extra debris on it.
● Use the microfiber cloth very gently in a circular motion on the screen. Do not scrub. Scrubbing can cause pixels to burn out. Wiping it gently in a circular motion will lift some of the more challenging spots. One sweep of the cloth should be enough to clean the screen from any loose particles or dust.
Cleaning Solution:
● Turn your laptop off, as you will be using a liquid substance for cleaning the screen.
● Plain distilled water can be an ideal solution, as it does not contain any chemicals and is gentle on the screen if heavy cleaning is needed. Mixing 50/50 of distilled water and white vinegar can do the job.
● Use plain white vinegar. DO NOT use apple cider vinegar or any other sort.
● Put the cleaning solution in a small atomizer bottle. These bottles are similar to a perfume bottle and can be pushed from the top to get a mist.
● However, DO NOT use the spray on the screen directly. But apply a minimal amount of it on a microfiber cloth and clean the screen gently with it. Remember, you want to get the fabric to be moist, DO NOT soak it.
Tips:
● Never make the screen wet.
● DO NOT use any cleaning supplies on your laptop's screen.
● Never scrub the screen.

Will Hand Sanitizer Damage My Phone?
Amidst the current pandemic, you must have heard countless times that your phone screen is more prone to have the virus than your hands. Of course, you cannot wash your screen with water; therefore, hand sanitizer came off as a solution. But is it safe to use it on the phone screen?
The answer to that is maybe. It depends on the quantity of the sanitizer you use that determines if it will damage your screen or not. We saw some cases where it hurt the screen so much that it had to be repaired by a Fix Station service provider.
A sanitized wipe or sanitizer that touches the screen from your hand will most probably not damage your screen, but it is better not to take the chance. It is strictly advised not to use any liquid near electronics.
How Does the Sanitizer Damage the Screen?
There are several ways that a hand sanitizer could get in and damage your phone permanently. In other cases, the screen is damaged, making it inevitable to get the services of someone like Fix Station.
If your phone screen or case had previous and require phone repair in motor city than cracks the hand sanitizer could get inside, and the ethyl alcohol would damage the machinery. In some cases, it may also cause a short circuit since alcohol is flammable.
Most of the modern phones come with a coating, such as an anti-glare or eye saving technology. The hand sanitizer could damage it, resulting in the touchpad’s complete breakdown.
If the sanitizer gets into the ports and speakers, they may get permanently damaged due to their fragility. Therefore, please do not go towards the hand sanitizer option at all.
