I'm back with more dungeon meshi headcanons

Toshiro

He makes Marcille seem very chill about it by comparison. He's absolutely insufferable about how disgusted he is by it and will always scold people for it, unless they're so sick they're literally throwing up, he almost treats it like it's some moral failing. Can't do it on command and will never participate in a burping contest. He's so annoying that even people who are usually very indifferent (Chilchuck and Namari) will do it on purpose just to bother him, so his efforts are really counterproductive. At least he also holds himself to a high standard. Will swallow them as much as possible and muffle (closed mouth, covering with his hand) them if he has to burp. His burps are pretty average in sound, but they can get really long, to the point he will get embarrassed while he's doing it.

Namari

Pretty similar to Chilchuck. Doesn't really care, if she has to burp she'll burp, but it doesn't bother her nearly as much if someone is too apologetic or doing it on purpose, she'll try to comfort someone who's ashamed of it even and thinks that if someone is bothered by it thats their problem. Will participate in a burping contest (and probably win) but I don't think she knows how to do it on command, so she uses beer as fuel. Her burps are exactly what one would expect from a dwarf who loves to drink, big, deep and bassy. She's definitely still very much able to mind her manners when necessary.

As promised, here I'm with my dungeon meshi headcanons part2 now its time for Senshi and Marcille

Senshi

Ok, on one hand, I think he would be very chill about generally, he sees it as just a normal bodily function and if you need to do it, you should just do it. I can even see him giving a litttle lecture on how holding it in is bad for your health and there's nothing to be ashamed of. If someone did it on accident after a meal or something, he will just smile and assure them it's fine and maybe that it's even a "compliment to the chef".

But on the other hand he canonically cares about table manners, so I would say he would get quite frustrated to see someone doing it on purpose just to be annoying, gross or funny and would also give a lecture on how that's not good and can also make you sick (the person receiving the lecture is prob Izutsumi). I would say he doesn't think excusing yourself is always necessary, but at least making an effort to muffle the sound is, especially in a dungeon.

He applies the same rules to himself, except that I do think he'll always excuse himself (its like, "other people don't have to do it but I can always be a good role model!"), but generally, if he has to burp, he'll just do it, unless he's in a formal situation or needs to be quiet. I can picture he putting a fist over his mouth and then casually excusing himself, not too worried about it.

He doesn't have any skill related to it, like doing it on command or burping words because he doesn't see the point, he finds it weird, actually, that some people would see it as a party trick or something when it's just, again, a bodily function. He would also never participate in a burping contest, unless idk he was really bored and really trying to bond with the people around him and it would still take a good amount of convincing.

Now, I don't think he would burp very often, for a variety of reasons 1) I don't know if that's true for the dungeon meshi universe, but for what I know dwarfs generally have stronger stomachs 2) He knows how to pace himself when eating and wouldn't be swallowing a lot of air 3) He has a very good understanding of which foods work for him and which ones don't.

I think his burps are a little bit below average for a dwarf (which translates as a little above average) and that they aren't very loud, but they're very deep and can be quite long. He'll make an effort to muffle them, but it's always going to be at least a little audible.

Marcille

From the main four she's definitely the one that's more grossed out by it. Mostly she'll just roll her eyes, groan and maybe mumble some insult, but if she's in a particularly bad mood she may actually snap and scold whoever did it for being loud (normally Laios) or not excusing themselves (normally Chilchuck).

Of course because of that she doesn't know how to burp on command or anything like that and would never participate in a burping contest, she thinks only someone incredibly vulgar would do any of those things

All that being said, the universe must really hate her because her burps are loud. Very loud. Explosions of sound. So loud she can't even properly muffle them. And she tries her hardest to, trying to hold it as much as she can (which just makes it worse in the long run) and if she has to, keep her mouth shut and covered by her hand (also always excuses herself, multiple times even), but it's not enough. She hates it, she gets actually angry at herself for this, but there isn't much she can do. The others don't even taunt her about it anymore (unless she's being particularly insistent with her scolding), because she gets actually sad and so ashamed its painful to be reminded of it.

Dungeon meshi has so many potencial for burp kink scenarios fics etc (and just anything to do with food and digestion tbh) I can't believe there isn't more content for it but that's why I'm making my own

Which is just some headcanons that I have for some of them

Laios

I can easily picture Laios (and Falin) being raised by their father to really mind their manners and care about etiquette, so he'll excuse himself and cover his mouth out of habit, but he personally doesn't understand why such a normal bodily function would be a big deal and considered offensive.

On the contrary, he actually thinks it's impressive to know how to do it, especially on command (he doesn't know how to do it but really wishes he knew because it's "so cool") and is the most likely to compliment someone's elses burp by saying "good one" or something like that and he would definitely be willing to participate in a burping contest. However, most of the times he won't really react cause, again, it's just a bodily function

Prob ha some pretty big ones considering his size and how much he likes eating weird stuff, (especially after what happens to his appetite at the end), I imagine them being so loud sometimes that it will startle people around him.

Chilchuck

He really doesn't think its a big deal, like, he has more important things to worry about and he actually gets annoyed at people who care about it, whether because they get too embarrassed or because they find it hilarious and do it on purpose to be annoying, he thinks it's childish to care about something like this.

However, there was in fact a point he cared about it, at least enough to learn how to do it on command, which he describes as a remnant from when he was "young and immature" (his own words). He's pretty good at controlling his burps in general, he needs to be, as a rogue (needs to be stealthy and all that) but if he doesn't need to be silent he'll just burp whenever he needs to, not bothering to cover or close his mouth and excuse himself unless it's a particularly loud or disrupting one. He'll excuse himself if asked to do so, however.

Anyone who listens to him burp for the first time will be shocked by how something so big could come from such a small guy. They're not as loud as Laio's but they're very deep and can get pretty long. They're, in fact, almost too much for his little body, and will often leave him out of breath and hurt his chest. He knows how to hold them very well, like I said, but hates doing it because trying to hold down such big burps will not be very fun and just make them worse later. He can't even just stifle them, he has to hold them down because closing/covering his mouth won't do much to hide them.

They manage to somehow get even worse when he's drinking, the beer will give him more than enough fuel for even longer, deeper ones and he'll lose any sense of shame, not even trying to muffle or excuse the louder ones. When drunk, he would also be willing to participate in a burping contest.

I'll do Marcille and Senshi if this gets enough (more than one) likes

You think you know someone - KINK CONTENT

An idea that I've had for a while. The other skaters finding out how good Cherry is at burping.

The restaurant was empty except for Cherry and the other skaters, but Joe would hardly call them clients. The teenagers and Shadow had been engaged in light conversation for some time now and both Cherry and Joe were barely listening, Cherry because he found it uninteresting and Joe because he was too busy closing the restaurant, but he came to them when he was done, to kick them out and also see what they were talking about that was keeping them so entertained.

“That's gross, Slime” Miya wrinkled his nose in disgust.

“But It's cool, isn't it?”

“Maybe, if you knew how to do it” Shadow said.

“Do you, old man?” Reki challenged.

“Don't call me that! And knowing how to burp the alphabet isn't exactly a top priority at my age”

“He says, like an old man”

“I know how to burp the alphabet” Joe said suddenly, surprising everyone, they haven't even notice him. “It's not so hard. I'm done closing the store, so” he made a gestured like he was shooing a dog.

“Wait, you do? Can you teach me?” Reki looked at him full of expectation.

“Only if you guys leave after that”

“That's fine by me!”

“Ok then.” Joe sat down. He saw from the corner of his vision Cherry rolling his eyes. “It really helps if you know how to do it on command. Do you?”

“I'm working on that”

“That's fine, I can show you, it's simple, you just have to swallow some air until you feel an air bubble form in yout throat…” Joe did as described and Reki followed. After some effort, Joe let out a pretty average burp, not bad, but not too long or deep. “And then you just let it out.”

Reki tried to copy, releasing a burp so small it wasn't much better than a hiccup, but that enough for him, at least for his first time.

“Cool!”

“You’ll get better at it with some practice”

“You're as disgusting as you're pathetic. Don't go around teaching others when you don't even know what you're doing” Cherry snickered from where he was drinking his tea.

Everyone turned to Cherry, they also forgot that he was there. Joe raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.

“Feel free to show how it's done if it bothers you so much”

Cherry scoffed.

“No, thank you, unlike you I'm not a savage.” If they were alone he would not hesitate to put that man in his place, but here, in front of everyone, he had an image to uphold. Joe would need much more than some childish provocation to get to him.

“Then don't go around complaining when you can't do better.”

“I don't have to know how to do it to criticize you, just like I don't have to know how to cook to say that your cooking sucks.”

“You can criticize, yeah, but you can't win the argument.”

“Sure I can”

“I think you’re just making excuses cause you'll never be better at burping than me. And a bunch of other things.”

Fuck the image he had to uphold.

Cherry turned silent and it took Joe a little too long to realize he was swallowing air. Then, Cherry opened his mouth and released a deep belch that did not look like it came from someone as delicate and dignified as him.

“That's how you do it” he said at the end of it, keeping direct eye contact with Joe “So I guess I win the argument”

“Yeah, but I win the war” Joe said with a satisfied smirk and that's when Cherry understood that he fell for his trap.

“Good one, Cherry!” Reki complimented, very impressed.

“I didn't expect that from you” Miya, on the other hand, was utterly shocked.

“That was loud.” Langa stated and it was hard to tell how he felt about it from his neutral tone and expression.

“You think you know people…” Shadow said more to himself in a mix of awe and shock.

“You wanted that, didn't you? Satisfied?” Cherry turned to Joe, trying to keep his composture after being defeated.

“What's wrong, don't you wanna show off your talents? Lemme tell you guys, our delicate flower here never lost a single burping contest he was on.” Joe turned to the others and pointed to Cherry, covering his mouth with his hand like he was telling a secret.

“That's so freaking awesome!” Cherry liked Reki, he did, he was a good kid, but he didn't want his approval with something like this.

“How did you learn it?” Langa asked the question his boyfriend was too excited to ask.

“I didn't really learn it, I just always knew how to do it.”

“He's a natural!” Joe raised his arms in celebration

“Shut up, you idiot. This is all your fault.”

“Oh, I'm sorry, am I supposed to cover for the guy whose idea of fun is burping in my ear?”

“I don't do that anymore!” at least not very often.

“Cherry, teach me, please, please!” Reki begged, giving the older skater one of those abandoned puppy eyes.

“No, that's beneath me. Why don't you ask Joe? I'm sure a savage like him would be glad to help you with that.”

“But you're so good, I don't think I've seen anyone as good as you! Please” Cherry wasn't sure if the boy's flattery was on purpose, but it was working.

“I can think about it”

I think pretty much everyone agrees that Tamaki's burps are really good with how much he has to eat with his quirk and that he gets proportionally embarrassed about them, but also I'm convinced everyone around him is so supportive

Like Tamaki will release one of those really long, deep closed mouth burps that reverberate in his throat and leave him red as a tomato and Mirio is all like "oh my god you're so good at that I wish I was as good a burper as you that's a talent dude" and Tamaki is like please don't compliment me on something like this

Or when he's with Kirishima and Fatgum and he ends up burping on accident and goes on to apologize but before he can even finish Kirishima will interrupt him with a even louder burp - cause unlike Mirio Kirishima can definitely one up Tamaki on burping - to show support, especially when they're in public and he sees that Tamaki is embarrassed for calling attention to himself

Fatgum does that sometimes too, but not as frequently, mostly it's just when he noticed Tamaki is so embarrassed he's spiraling about it

For example, the first time Tamaki burped in front of Fatgum he was so embarrassed it was physically painful he was on the verge of tears cause "oh my god oh my god I just burped in front of a pro-hero I'm going to literally set myself on fire" and then Fatgum just burped even louder and smiled

Even Nejire, although she's not likely to burp back when he does it she thinks it's absolutely adorable when Tamaki burps and you bet she'll tell him that, he can release the loudest, deepest burp you've ever seen and she's just "oh Tamaki that's so adorable, go on, let them out, don't worry!"

one of my absolute favorite burping scenarios: character a accidentally lets out a huge burp and is super embarrassed about it, so character b makes them feel better by releasing a much louder belch. ik we've all heard this scenario before, but no matter how many times i hear it, it will always make me smile. it's just... so good.

Asahi looked around the movie theater, fidgeting with his bag. He was already late for his date with Nishinoya and now he couldn't even find the boy. Why do those things happen to him?

Luckily for him, Nishinoya had a much easier time spotting his boyfriend and waved at him with a smile.

"Asahi! Over here!" Following the direction of the voice, Asahi managed to find the other one and it was with a sigh of relief that he started walking toward him. Nishinoya got up from the table he was sitting on, going in his boyfriend's direction too.

"Oh my god, Nishinoya, I'm so sorry for being late, everything went wrong, I had to help my parents with a bunch of stuff, there was this old lady that needed help crossing the street-" started to ramble as soon as he got close enough to the other.

For some seconds Nishinoya didn't even know how to react to that storm of anxiety, but he quickly recovered and went on to reassure his date:

"Hey, man, don't worry, it's-" he stopped mid phrase, a look of discomfort on his face that was replaced by a burp that sounded like it came from deep down his stomach, leaving his mouth in a explosion loud enough to replace Asahi's anxiety with surprise "it's fine. I kept myself busy trying to learn how to burp my ABCs while I waited for you" he giggled, letting out another, much smaller, burp, holding up a now empty bottle of soda, which he promptly threw away in the closest trash can. 

It took Asahi some time to process that information. He looked around at the many people surrounding them, some even gazing at Nishinoya and felt his face heating up with the embarrassment that the smaller boy definitely never felt.

"In public?!" Asahi's usually deep voice reached an almost high pitched tone as he faced the boy, wide eyes and all. 

"Yeah" Nishinoya shrugged as if it was nothing, already walking without waiting for Asahi, who reached the smaller boy only to shoot him a look of silent exasperation. Asahi had no right being surprised, this was normal Noya behavior, but it seemed like he always felt embarrassed for the two of them.

"Are you, like. Feeling okay?" Were the first words he managed to let out.

"Sure. Just a bit burpy" as if to demonstrate, he burped again. "Let's go already, I don't wanna lose the beginning of the movie. You," he pointed an accusatory finger at Asahi "Are gonna buy popcorn, soda and shit. It's your punishment for being late" said, smiling after to make sure Asahi knew he wasn't actually mad.  

"Sorry about that. I don't think you should drink more soda, though, you look full already" 

"Ha! Not even close, besides," he gulped some air and punched his own chest, freeing a loud, throaty burp that lasted for long seconds "I'm already making room" giggled. Asahi had to stop himself from whimpering as that clearly caught the attention of some of the strangers at the place. 

"Oh god, Nishinoya" he probably still sounded on the verge of tears, cause the smaller one laughed, giving him some comforting pats on the shoulders. 

"I'll wait for you inside, here's your ticket" said, getting it from his pocket and giving it to his boyfriend.

"Thanks" With that, Nishinoya went ahead, leaving his boyfriend to wait in line to buy their food.

At least he didn't have to wait much, lines always made him anxious, soon he was carrying a medium sized popcorn and two cans of soda, he only hoped it was enough, despite his size, Nishinoya could eat a lot. 

"Come sit Asahi, the movie has already started! And why didn't you get a large one?" Was what he said as Asahi sat down by his side, grateful that he didn't trip or anything while walking in the dark toward their seats.

"I figured you ate something while you waited for me"

"I did, but that's besides the point!" Said, already getting himself a handful of popcorn. Asahi smiled faintly.

"Ok then, we can get more food after the movie, how about that?" 

"Yeah, I like that" Noya agreed through a mouthful. "Man, finally we get to watch this movie I was waiting to see it for, like, weeks now.

"I know, you've been talking about it for weeks now" Asahi replied fondly, getting himself a much smaller amount of popcorn and eating much slower. 

"If it's not as good as I think I'm gonna fucking lose it" said, shoving so much popcorn into his mouth that some fell from the sides, all of it he promptly moved on to picking up, even the ones that fell on the floor.

"You're not going to eat that, are you?" 

"Huh? 'Course I will! Five seconds rule, dude!" 

"No, don't eat food from the floor!" Asahi tried to take the popcorn away from his boyfriend's hands, but Noya seemed determined to not waste anything, so after a few moments of struggle, as soon as he found an opening he shoved all of it in his mouth, letting out a victorious laugh as he chewed. Behind the couple, some people shushed them, clearly annoyed at the noise they were making. 

"I'm sorry" Asahi whispered at the strangers, then turning to Noya with a properly exasperated expression.

"Tastes the same to me!" the younger boy said, at least bothering to lower his tone.

"If you get sick-"

"I'm not gonna get sick, I have a great immune system"

"I know you do, but"

"Asahi, sweetheart," Noya didn't use pet names unless he was doing it sarcastically, which was the case "I'll be fine. Now pass me that soda, I'm thirsty" Asahi gave him a worried look, but did what the boy asked. 

Nishinoya opened the can and, because he never did anything slowly, started to chug the soda, every gulp going down loudly through his throat, some drops falling from the sides of his mouth and his chin, until he put it down, several seconds later, crushing the empty can as he let out a powerful burp, echoing through the theater for long moments, it was his loudest one so far.

Asahi could only stare, feeling his cheeks heating up from embarrassment. Watching Nishinoya was sometimes like watching a car accident. It's chaotic and messy, but you can't look away. 

And Asahi would never say it, but it was especially hard to look away when he was acting like that. When he was crass and gross and loud. Oh god, how could he be so loud? How could such an explosion of sound come from such a small guy? He didn't know, but it was always a vision. Nishinoya, opening his mouth to release that type of noise, his entire body vibrating, as if it came from deep within his being. The sigh of satisfaction he released after, like he was doing right now, as he patted his belly, ignoring all the looks he was receiving. 

"Noya!" He scolded the boy in a whisper, turning to his boyfriend with disbelief on his face. The smaller one simply grinned, looking proud of himself.

"That was a good one, wasn't it?"

"You're being rude!"

"Oh Asahi, chill out" he gave the boy some comforting pats on the back.

"I mean it!" His voice went up a bit against his will, as Asahi tried to convince his boyfriend to have at least a little shame. Nishinoya giggled, but obeyed.

"Fine, fine, I'll behave" when he added a wink at the end it made Asahi not so sure of that, but he decided to give Noya the benefit of the doubt.

It didn't last long. 

After less than five minutes into the movie, while one of many fight scenes were playing, Nishinoya was infodumping about the stunts used.

"And for that move they have to train it before like a lot and use a bunch of equipment and" he suddenly stopped himself, furrowing his eyebrows "fuck. Wait" he bought a fist to his mouth right in time for it to stiffle a low throaty burp. He kept his head down for the extension of it, as a further attempt to stiffle the noise. After way too long, he finally looked up, massaging his chest "damn, that hurt" 

Asahi just looked at him until he noticed.

"What? This time it wasn't on purpose!" Asahi wasn't so sure he believed and that was probably clear on his face "It's true, man! I think I'm done now, ok?"

He was not done.

Soon later, Nishinoya stifled another closed mouth burp. And then another. And another. For the next half hour he burped around once every minute, small, almost silent ones, but that made his cheeks puff and his face contort in discomfort.

"Fuck, goddamnit" the young boy mumbled, taking more soda to see if it could help somehow.

"You're not doing it on purpose, right?" Asahi confirmed again.

"I wish" he followed his words with a miserable burp. His boyfriend smiled in understanding. Nishinoya was paying for his own mistakes, that's for sure, but it was still painful. 

"I think drinking that will just make it worse" Asahi said, pointing at the soda.

"You got water?" 

"No, I'm so sorry" 

"Well shit. I'll be fine, though" 

"You don't look fine" 

"If you keep talking you're the one who's gonna get shushed my dude" Asahi looked around at the other people watching the movie. He was trying to keep his voice as low as possible, but considering some of the looks he was receiving, it wasn't low enough. 

"Ok. But if you need, you can go get some water or go to the bathroom"

"No way in hell I'm missing a single scene of this!" Asahi opened his mouth to argue, but decided against it. Nishinoya was too stubborn to be convinced and they were already bothering everyone else.

So they both powered through it.

Asahi didn't remember the last time Nishinoya burped so many times in an hour, not even after his inconsequential eating contests with Tanaka and he was really, really trying not to get too worried.

His boyfriend wasn't helping his case. As time went on, it was obvious that his burping wasn't only annoying for Noya, but also painful and by the end of the movie they were starting to sound too sickly for Asahi's liking. At least the boy was making a better job at swallowing his burps and stifling them when that wasn't possible.

In the end, for someone that was so excited for that movie, Noya was really grateful to get out of the theater. 

"Man, I think I gave myself a stomachache" he said, clenching his belly to try to ease the pain.

"You really shouldn't have drank all that soda, Noya! Do you want to buy some medicine at the pharmacy?"

"I know and don't worry. Think I just swallowed too much air. And having to keep it inside didn't help, let me tell ya"

"Maybe next time we can bring some juice?"

"But I like soda more!"

"Soda is bad for you!" Noya stuck his tongue to his boyfriend.

"Get out of here with your facts!" Asahi was still concerned, but that got a smile out of him. Nishinoya smiled too.

"I ruined this shit, didn't I?" 

"What?" Noya kept a faint smile, his gaze down as he fidget a bit with his clothes.

"This date thing" Asahi stared at his boyfriend for long seconds. I mean yes, having your date interrupted by your partner's gastrointestinal problems wasn't exactly his idea of romance, but…

"Of course not!"

"C'mon, man! It's not hard to gross you out"

"That's not true!" Why was he defending himself? "And you don't gross me out, Noya! I mean" he did a vague gesture around that was supposed to encompass their entire relationship "I've seen you lick the gym's floor, there's isn't anything that you can do to gross me out by now" Nishinoya let out a laugh at that.

"Ok, good to know, dude" Asahi smiled "cause I'm gonna need to be gross a little longer" Asahi sighed.

"Not in public, please" Noya grinned.

"My house, then?"

"I like that"

I was going through your masterlist and in an old post you said that Illumi from hxh is one of your favorite characters ever, so I have to ask, do you have any burp headcanons for him??

Actually, if you want to, I would love to hear your headcanons for other hxh characters too, like Killua, Leorio, Gon and Kurapika

Hi hi yes Illumi’s my absolute favorite fictional character ever actually lol. Also I’m a biiiit uncomfortable doing Gon and Killua but I’m happy to provide some hcs for the rest :)

Post writing note: I tossed Hisoka in too for funsies (gotta keeps the bfs together)

ILLUMI:

Okay so Illumi my boy 😩

He’s definitely got that stealth DOWN so i think he can mute his burps to where they’re completely silent when he needs to

For example: on missions he like slowly lets the gas leak up from his stomach into his throat wherein he silently breathes it out of his nose

Despite that I think when he’s not on a mission/not in need of stealth he doesn’t really do much to muffle his burps at all

As I’ve talked about before he’s definitely one of the 😐 characters

When he needs to burp while he’s not on a mission he’ll delicately hold his fingers over his open mouth and and absolutely UNGODLY belch will burst forth from his lithe frame

Tbh I think the only reason he bothers with even that is because him mom used to smack him for burping out loud as a kid

She wanted him to be “beautiful” and burping like that was NOT beautiful (i (and probably most people tbh) hc that he got the Kalluto treatment™ before Kalluto did)

I’m obsessed with the trope of very physically beautiful characters having the nastiest, most guttural, monstrous belches

So I say that’s how Illumi’s are

The first few times Hisoka heard Illumi burp uninhibited he was actually super shocked

He fr just stared at him like

And when Illumi saw Hisoka staring he just blinked at him like

“what ⚫️-⚫️”

He honestly didn’t believe that sound could’ve possibly come from Illumi until like the fifth time it happened

I also like to think that despite being immune to all poisons Illumi is, ironically, severely lactose intolerant

If he consumes any dairy AT ALL his stomach absolutely bloats up like a balloon

That’s honestly probably the only time having gas really bothers him because at that point the gas is just too uncontrollable and it really hurts

The only thing he can really do to remedy a lactose intolerance reaction is honestly to just sit there and burp it out

As much as he’d never admit it he really likes it when Hisoka rubs his back when this happens

His lactose intolerance burps are significantly longer and wetter than his normal ones which sometimes leads to some pretty gross acid reflux

So for the most part he avoids dairy like the plague

HISOKA:

Hisoka’s honestly the one that’s most likely to use his burps in a seductive manner

ESPECIALLY if he knew his partner was into it (he’s probably into it tbh)

Hisoka would definitely burp and then blow you a kiss with it

As far as his actual burps go I feel like his are like suuuuuuuper deep

They rumble so deeply in his chest that they’re impossible to stifle but he somehow makes it look graceful

He’ll put two fingers (with those long ass claws) over his lips as the belch reverberates in his chest and then when he’s finished he’ll blow the air to the side (or at whoever’s in front of him)

I feel like his burps aren’t nearly as explosive as Illumi’s

They’re far more consistent sounding if that makes sense

As I sorta touched on, there’s a strange grace to them (not dissimilar to him as a character)

He also doesn’t really burp all that often so they kinda come as a surprise to anyone he may be with when they come up

Especially since he doesn’t really do much at all to muffle them

(i mean how can he tbh, look at that corset)

He’s really not ashamed either

So Leorio

I wouldn’t say he’s the type to feel embarrassed if he burps out loud but I do think he makes a habit of excusing himself

He’s the type that would try and muffle any burps he feels creeping up his throat however if one did manage to slip past him he’d take it in stride with a chuckle and excuse himself

His burps are definitely pretty decent

I feel like they sound pretty normal for the most part but when he’s eaten a bit too much they tend to come out a lot more belchy if that makes sense

Leorio can definitely burp on command though

I believe that so hard

My guy is the CEO of burp talking

Bro can definitely burp out full sentences with enough fuel in the tank

He probably used to do it to annoy Kurapika back in their earlier days

For the most part though, any natural burps he feels coming up are muffled into his fist

Despite being relatively polite about it he’s really not one to swallow his burps or prevent them from coming up at all

If he has to burp he’s gonna burp regardless of who’s around

KURAPIKA:

Last but not least we have Kurapika

Out of everyone on this list he’s definitely the most likely to be embarrassed about his burps

He’d actually rather die than burp in front of anyone else

Especially in the earlier days of hxh

He has this haughty, arrogant, and almost pompous attitude about him and he feels like he constantly needs to be better and more mature than everyone else

He certainly can’t be seen (or heard) engaging in such an uncouth action as belching like an animal in the presence of others

That being said, this boy can definitely burp

Though it’s very rare for anyone to actually hear it

At this point I feel like only the others of the main four and Melody have heard it

His burps are the type that start coming out really airy and high pitched but the longer they go on they get deeper and louder

His burps are super long too so the belch hasn’t even finished before he feels his cheeks go scarlet (haha get it… I’ll see myself out 🚶‍♂️)

He’s also definitely the type that gets pretty bad hiccup burps

Especially when he has alcohol in his stomach

Similar to what I mentioned in my Headcanons for Vax from tlovm they get so bad sometimes that he physically can’t control it

His body will just get caught in this alternating loop of belching then hiccuping then belching then hiccuping and so on and forth

A lot of times these fits actually start to hurt after awhile

The only remedy he’s found that works is for Leorio to smack him on the back as hard as he can, forcing ALL of the rest of the air in his stomach up at once into one absolutely HUGE belch

So that’s probably why he doesn’t drink much lolllll
