Alice Correia Barbosa, a brazilian trans woman, was kidnapped by ICE near DC yesterday, handcuffed and pulled out of her passenger seat, she now waits to hear from a judge on whether she's going to a female or male cell in a few days. She's currently alone at an immigration detention center in Chantilly, VA.

the thing with that law criminalizing trans women not """disclosing""" is that it ultimately ends with transfem sex workers, especially unhoused transfem sex workers who are already struggling to survive AND at disproportionate risk of violence and abuse and murder, being at an even higher risk of being arrested for sex crimes before they get forcefully detransitioned and sent to male prisons to be assaulted even as they are the actual victims of sexual and systemic violence.

This is what the demonization of trans women leads too. Trans women are seen as inherently ‘deceptive’ and ‘predatory’. The act of not telling someone they have sex with that they are trans will get them charged with sexual assault.

Cis people don’t have to tell you they are cis whenever they have sex. But trans people have too.

The cis man who is accused her of this is telling people that this ‘ruined his manhood’.

Being nonbinary but not in a gender neutral way is so hard. People assume nonbinary = neutral gender and they/them.
