Something I love about the slugcats is how in-game, even though you're controlling them, they have their own mannerisms and things they do without your input.

You can clearly see when they're looking at something, they move their tail out of the way when a lizard is snapping below them, and they stare at a pole plant even though you haven't noticed it.

It has no impact on gameplay but it makes them a lot more endearing
