One reason why the CW’s Nancy Drew works so well is that it allows for it’s lead to be a complex character which is so important. Nancy is not perfect. She is going through a myriad of hardships while also being a young person trying to figure out who she is. We see Nancy be messy, make mistakes, and have flaws. However, we also see the characters around her call her out when she needs to be (and sometimes when she doesn’t, but I digress). We see a friend group that supports one another unconditionally (for the most part), but also holds each other accountable. And this is what makes the Drew Crew and their dynamic work because they feel like a real friend group—like a found family. Furthermore, it’s that dynamic and practice of holding each other accountable that allows for their growths as individual characters. They learn and grow from their experiences, but also remain complex in which we see them continually trying to do their best while still being allowed to be imperfect (which is exactly how it is in real life). And we see this most obviously with Nancy. She’s allowed to be a whole human being rather than a trope or the idealized protagonist.

Brigitte with her eyes so bright
Looks toward heaven at midnight
On the longest night of year
That’s the one she holds most dear
“Starry friends,” she’s often heard to say
“How I wish that I could make you stay”
She knows though they can’t remain
Time will bring them round again

Been listening to the SEA soundtrack and all I can think of is “did the team who made this know it’ll be the last one they all will work on together?” It makes the music feel a whole lot more sullen.

You wouldn't believe the lucky break we caught.
Lucky break? Hey, that was the result of good old-fashioned detective work.
It was the result of your insisting we stop for a cheeseburger.

One of the things I love about what I think of as the "Golden Era" of ND games is that they don't spoon feed you every tiny detail. Sure, they make sure that you're aware of the major plot points and over explain some of the important things, but there's a lot of things that are never mentioned and you'll never catch unless you're REALLY paying attention.
For example, in ICE, you can tell from the first conversation you have with Guadalupe that she's lying about why she's at the lodge. She makes a list of all the birds she's observed during her stay, but then if you compare that to the migration charts on the lodge computer, you'll find that a lot of those birds aren't in even Canada during the Winter.
Ergo she's either a very bad bird-watcher orlooking at something else through those binoculars. It's not an important detail, and you eventually find out everything about her anyway, but it's the kind of story building that makes for a really immersive experience and allows you to be the detective, not just follow a story.

A No Proof Nancy Age based on Timeline Idea
What the title states.
Look, we’ve all been wondering Nancy’s age, and this is just a fun way to guess how old she is in each game based on nothing but context and creativity. There maybe some typos and grammar issues because I wrote this super fast.
The first 4 games occur when Nancy is in highschool. She has a history of solving crimes since she was young and her aunt just turns to her for help which sets off a career.
SCK/SCK Remastered: Nancy is in 9th grade. Younger than the suspects which fits her general confusion about how highschool works and the ease with how she enters the school.
STFD: Nancy is in 10th grade. Most likely on spring or summer break. This puts her at a much younger age than the cast and makes sense why they treat her as a junior. It also makes Rick Arlen’s behaviour very disgusting.
MHM: Nancy is in grade 11. Almost an adult, but still dependent on others. It also makes sense why Hannah would chuck a teenager for summer odd jobs help, over an older Nancy. Rose, Abbey, and Louis’ behaviours as dismissive, and kind of mean, makes sense because they see Nancy as a young kid. It also makes Charlie’s friendliness towards her make sense in comparison to other characters.
TRT: Nancy is in grade 12, winter break. Same situation as MHM.
FIN: Now things change! Nancy specifically mentions Maya as a friend, but Maya is a university student! And what university student would remain close friends with a highscholer? The difference in responsibilities naturally puts a distance, UNLESS, Nancy is also a university/college student! Nancy has joined as a history major due to inspiration from Hotchkiss, and often writes articles for Maya.
SSH: Nancy is a second year history major and is doing an internship at a museum to get curatorial and archives experience.
DOG: Nancy is a third year student and is on fall break/long weekend holiday. Her discover of a speakeasy fits into her history major focus.
CAR: Nancy is a 4th year student and discovers a historical artifact that got stolen. Her interest in history and detective work bridges together, but she’s hasn’t decided what path to take. Should she be a historian, archivist, curator, or detective?
DDI: Nancy is a recent grad and is exhasuted and overworked. To celebrate her graduation she goes for a whale watching tour rest vacation thing and ends up solving another mystery with the aid of some local history.
SHA: Nancy is a fully fledged historian and is looking for a job. She uses the past to figure out the present, and really cements the idea of combining history and mystery as a career.
CUR: Nancy starts a career as a historical detective, but she’s not a licensed detective and is burnt out to start another career. So she advertises herself as a historian but everyone in River Heights know her as a detective and often reach out to her. CUR becomes Nancy’s first real work work.
CLK: Backstory of why Nancy is interested in history. some odd fascination with the 30s.
TRN: Nancy’s reputation is spread around by Hugh Penvellyn and reaches the ears of Lori.
DAN: The news of TRN and Lori makes Nancy well known internationally and more people reach out to her. As always, Nancy’s penchant for history makes solving the mystery easy.
CRE: Nancy has a career existential crises. Maybe she wasn’t getting enough work, or people were commenting that she seems unmotivated. She’s also not sure what she likes and decides to go towards science. Maybe go back and learn to be a forensic detective.
ICE: Nancy continues to see if forensic detective would be a career for her, yet history keeps calling her name.
CRY: Nancy takes a vacation and Ned requests Nancy to check on Henry. Using history and archival knowledge, Nancy solves a case.
VEN: The Italian police reach out to Nancy based on her success with CUR, TRN, and DAN to solve an art smuggling operation. Nancy is now confident that History is what she was always meant to focus on, and forensics science is good information to have.
HAU: Nancy gets invited to her first wedding and realizes people around her are growing up and moving onto different stages of their lives. Yet again, she uses history to solve a mystery.
RAN: Nancy goes on vacation and again uses history to uncover a kidnapping mystery.
WAV: Again, Nancy gets an opportunity to work professionally due to her reputation. But she finds it harder to fit in and relate to the girls because she’s much older now.
TOT: Nancy is in her mid 20′s and is solving a professional mystery. Her experiences and knowledge in science helps her with the case. She also finds herself surrounded by people who are all having career existential crises of some kind. But Nancy grows from the experience and becomes determined to make her dream career work out.
SAW: Nancy gets a vacation and solves a mystery, but this time she’s super confident in herself.
CUR: Nancy’s reputation land her an AWESOME opportunity.
ASH: Well…. someone tries to tarnish Nancy’s reputation…
TMB: Needing a break from River Heights and to give people time to move on from the scandals the came out, Nancy reaches to a former manager for a reference to work on a dig sight. Her history and archaeology degree come in handy!
DED: Nancy gets another awesome professional opportunity.
GTH: Acquaintance asks for assistance and Nancy’s on the case!
SPY: Nancy has a guts to face her own past with all the experience she’s gained.
MED: Nancy decides she needs to up her physical fitness to be ready to take down anyone after her experiences in SPY.
LIE: Museums are contacting each other left and right about this amazing history detective who can stop smugglers!
SEA: Dagny hires Nancy but tricks her into what type of mystery she’s solving.
MID: Ignoring the MESS of MID, it pretty much follows the whole using the past to solve a present mystery.

Just thought I'd share this here too. It's very not cool to share copies of my work without paying me appropriately or even giving me credit.
Do not do this.
