‘You’ve got to know when it is time to turn the page’. WARNING! Annoying Insta blog caption below. . . My co-worker bought me an #orchid as a going away gift!!!!!! I am laughing my butt off. This is awesome 😂🥰 . . . I have been very particular about my pink orchid at the hotel. I made sure it got an ice cube every Sunday afternoon. If I wasn’t going to be in on Sunday? I would call and make the staff do it or leave a note in the book to make sure it got done. If I went on vacation I would Facebook message my coworkers to make sure it got done. . You might be thinking that I, meghan, am not a #plantperson! I can’t keep things alive! This is totally out of character for you!! And you would not be wrong. So why did I care about this random orchid? My co-worker Heather and I saved it from a drunk guest who brought it back from a wedding (or they left it behind, or something, but regardless) we saved it from its impending doom roughly 2-3 years ago. The branch with the flower snapped off but heather clipped it back on so it looked like normal sitting on the window sill. After that branch died, it sprouted another one and blossomed beautifully so we decided it could stay in the window sill and live out its life there. . . Throughout the years it has blossomed and died off but it always came back as long as I made sure to leave it alone but give it its Sunday ice cube. And the flowers were just as beautiful, if not more beautiful, as before. . Is that not just a great metaphor for life? My career here at the Comfort Inn? It’s perfect for a lot of things I think.... . I am now a proud plant mom to this mini orchid. I have proven I can manage to keep a full sized one alive for 2-3 years so I am happy to have my own mini orchid as I move on to bigger and better thing in my life and career. . . Thank goodness for the family we create for ourselves. “Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing” - Fight Club . . Tomorrow morning at 9am I start my new job at a Canadian owned independent brokerage. . Why do I share such news? Because, quite frankly, I am proud of myself. And yes, this is a bit of a #humblebrag but it is also the best way to update my family and friends as to the going ons in my life. — I have somehow managed to sustain 2 terrible concussions in the past 2 years (plus a month and a week). Typically concussions resolve pretty quickly but I played a lot of sports when I was younger and I know I hit my head more than a few times. . I also battled with the a lot more than just bad concussions over the past 2 years. To the point I actually got tired of people telling me how ‘strong’ I was. I didn’t feel like it. But I managed to stay relatively positive. I think it is important to mention a bit of the negative because it is necessary to reflect on that in order to appreciate the positive. So, despite a lot of crap, I worked my butt off to get where I am headed. And I am proud!
