"that was a great match." he shakes the hand of his opponent, smile reaching his eyes but not his heart. not nearly close to being worthy. a shame. how was he supposed to seek out people with an understanding of true beauty when they were all so small minded?

he moves immediately, obediently. miniscule at lysandre's side in stature and importance. but to calem it didn't matter. it was enough to just bask in the attention and presence of his leader, to be useful to him and his vision.

"is there something you need me to do? i'm ready to serve."

Calem is actually probably alarmingly normal to anyone who knows how deeply entrenched he is in Flare. Unless he’s in one of his zealot modes, it’s easy to forget he’s associated with them at all.

the question doesn’t even give calem pause. silva’s more sentimental than anyone else here, the only one that would be quite so focused on his nonexistent personal life.

“you’re my only friend anywhere.”

it’s matter of fact. he only has one friend, and it’s silva. he has his sister, he has his colleagues in flare. he has lysandre. but when it comes to friends, there’s only silva.

“what’s brought all of this on?”

Thinking about Calem and the neighbors again, Calem and Serena - how much he learned from them all about living his life and appreciating the beauty around him. It was enough to shift him from blind obedience and devotion to Flare to a point where he can survive - albeit broken; shattered - without Flare.

"I see." There's an undercurrent of anger and resignation in Calem's voice. "It's a pity you'd try to turn the Chosen against us." He shouldn't be able to know those meetings happened, but that is how they operate. They see all, they know all, and they ensure the pieces will be in place for a new world. He won't tolerate anyone turning against them.

"Espurr. Psyshock."

Espurr's stare never falters and the traitor screams. Not dead, they weren't murderers. But he would never have the capability to do anything by himself again, let alone tell what he knew.

"It's called being open the possibilities around us, listening to what isn't said as much as what is. Liars are people with something to hide, and a reason to keep it hidden. Find any part of that reason and you get a deeper truth than if they'd just answered honestly to begin with."

"You sound like an interrogator..."

"of course, sometimes people don't want to open up about their problems. that's fine. there are always ways to get to the hidden truth, and make people understand that they must be open with themselves."

"remember: it's always good to find someone who can listen to your problems, someone who understands you, and can show you the way to move forward with your life in the best way."

calem's groan is fond and long suffering. it was good, of course, there was no one more stubborn than silva that he could ever encounter in his life. if he can at least corral her a little, then any other assignment lysandre or xerosic gives him he'll be able to show his worth in.

"i've got a lot of skills, you know. i think i could be useful to them wherever they put me."

he types out a quick message on his holocaster before joining her at the monitor, not stopping her, but supervising. if she got too close to something she shouldn't, he'd interfere. but for the moment keeping her entertained and distracted was important.

"i've been thinking maybe i could go around the region."

Silva waved her hand rather dismissively and laughed as she looked around. She let out a yawn--gosh recently she had been getting...far too tired, far too fast. Still!! She wanted to be energetic, to keep going!! Gaze wandered across tools and gear--she wondered if there was a console around this room...Then she could see what they were doing!!

" it's fiiine!!~ xerusic will be fine with it and su will my father. "

She shrugged, before her expression lightened up and she ran over to a computer--at that moment it was shut down, but within a matter of seconds she had it right on, desktop bright blue before shifting to a password screen. She hummed a moment, before typing a few combinations.

" what uther jub wuld yu du?? it's fine. "

Team Flare is the Magnus Archive and Lysandre in Jonah-

because he is young and relatively unassuming, calem can blend in well almost anywhere. while he's primarily located in lumiose pre-xy, it doesn't stop him from being sent out on simple data gathering missions.

that's basically what he's doing when he agrees to working on the pokedex for sycamore - data gathering, and being an in within the professor's student circle.

"we can't keep doing this, you know." but he's getting up to follow her anyway. it is, at least, him attempting to do his job. "your father or the doctor will get tired of me failing to keep you in line and they'll put me on some other job."

" well too late now!! are you gonna follow me or not? "
