“ But: yes. If the Prince or any of the more senior vampires were to be more careful, I’d have my sire practically tethered to me, until he was sure I was capable. But here I am, plopped out and hoping for the best. I still get the consequences when I fuck up. They aren’t shy about playing favourites, ” the political realm of vampires was practically a soap opera, and Alastor wasn’t about to pretend he wholly understood it. So far, things just kept happening around him and he’d had to figure it out on his own, save some reprimanding and guidance by more senior vampires who didn’t want a rogue newbie screwing up shared hunting grounds. 

The sound of Remi’s laughter, warmed Alastor’s core. It was brief but joyful and expressive. He dared - to attempt to scandalise him, “ How so - by ending up with an eternal leech like myself?”

“ Yes, and if you want to be serious about dating me an’ having me in yer life. That means I’ll get involved. I know that I don’t have to, but I don’t want to stand by and know it’s happening.” Now worry began to find its way under the vampire’s skin. He knew that Remi probably could fight hunters; but it was normal to want to help, right? “ I’ll jump in when I can, it’ll only be unfair if you set any of them on me specifically, ‘ow about that then? ”

Alastor welcomed the clumsy kiss and looked baffled when Remi pulled away with a growl. Had - had he pulled away and growled because he was embarrassed? “ No, no. You can’t ask for more and then leave me hanging, ” Alastor pleaded, he nuzzled the side of the werewolf’s face and offered a patient smile, “ Even just a peck on the lips? ”

                 His nose scrunches and he feels his skin crawl at the single word ‘prince’. Nothing said I’m better than you than having the title prince or any form of royalty type word. A scowl settles onto his expression after a moment and he shakes his head. “Lucky you don’t have some pompous prick face tethered to ya then.” Look at him, knowing words like pompous. Vampire politics sounded fucking annoying and he wasn’t game to dive into that kind of bullshit honestly.  

                   A soft hum escapes him as a surprisingly gentle smile settles itself onto his features. “In theory that’s what it would be yeah. I don’t got any kinda solid proof besides some fucking overhearing of somethin’ I wasn’t meant to hear.” He shrugs after a moment. 

                   Dating. It was a word he never thought would be associated with himself a while ago but here he was, dating the other and the other just so happened to be a vampire. Strange how things turned out, wasn’t it? “I never should’ve mentioned it. I’m not going to stand by and let you try and play hero to my situation. It’s not fair that you get dragged into my own bullshit. Nobody should have to deal with my bullshit.” Most the time his mind wandered to nobody should have to deal with a monster like him but those were thoughts he kept inside his head as to not worry the vampire before him more. A long sigh escapes him after a moment, a sigh that sounds annoyed if it was possible. “Fine, do what you want ya stubborn ass.” A stubborn ass that he cared all too much for. 

                        Alastor was correct in thinking that he was embarrassed because he very much was embarrassed at the moment. A strangled noise, sounding like a slight whimper actually tumbles past his lips instead of words. “I don’t...I’m not...Good at this.” Of course the other had to know that for damn sure. He gives in however, not able to say no to the vampire and tilts his head to peck the vampires lips and then he’s burying his red face back into the crook of Alastor’s neck right afterwards.

「     Babe … Hey, babe …     」 His voice was urgent but gentle as he shook him gently by the shoulder, his brows drawn together in clear concern. Ame had snuck out of bed while Remi was asleep to check in on something he had forgotten about earlier on in the day when he started to hear the sounds coming from his room. It broke his heart seeing him so distressed, especially in his sleep. Sleep, to him, should be a reprieve from the world. An escape. Not another thing to drag you down. 

Another gentle shake, this time a little more firmer. When he finally woke up, he was quick to slide into the bed again, pulling him in close against him. 「     It’s okay … You’re okay …     」  he murmured out soothingly, fingers pushing through his hair before he kissed the crown of his head.

              Remi having nightmares was nothing uncommon, life had always been pretty shitty and had plagued his mind with dark dreams that made him wake up with dark circles under his eyes often. Things had gotten better when Ame came into his life, he had nightmares less frequently but when he had them, they actually had genuine fears to prey on. He dreamed of losing the other male in many ways, even to himself, the monster inside him, the wolf, taking him out and he hated that dream when it happened and it made him hate himself for what and who he was. 

                 He woke gasping, eyes looking around wildly in the dark and realizing he’d been shaken awake by Ame, his hands finding Ame middle and pulling him close just as Ame does the same to him. He’s drenched in sweat and his heart is thudding hard and he feels choked up. It has been a long time since he has felt like crying but in this moment he feels the need to so fucking badly. He wasn’t sure he’d ever shed a tear in front the other, he just tried staying strong so often. “Ame...Ame.” Voice shakes and he feels like he should push himself away from the other in that moment. “It...I...Me..I hurt you.” His voice sounds so broken in that moment. “I...Need to leave.”

               If someone had told him months ago that he’d fall for a vampire, he would’ve punched their lights out and called it a fucking day but that very thing happened. In every story about their kinds, they were mortal enemies but here he was, a werewolf listening to the vampire talk, giving him his full attention and just listening to everything for once instead of cutting him off to add some kind of snarky input like he usually did. 

               His two different colored hues searched the vampires face as he listened to every word that fell off of Alastor’s stunning and tempting lips. He feels happy, just so happy in the moment of something so simple, just sitting here listening to the other speak on things and just watching him, there was also the hand holding too. Something so simple had made the werewolf so damn happy that his heart was running wide open in that moment, a genuine and soft smile taking over his features. 

                 Alastor is looking at him and opening his mouth to speak when Remi suddenly can’t help himself and just leans in and presses his lips to Alastor’s lips. He shifts, hand finding moving to hold the back of the vampires head, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss as fingers play in the others hair. He’s moved until he’s almost in the others lap, scratch that he truly is, wanting to be close as possible in the moment. He pulls back after a good few moments and there’s laughter bubbling past his lips, happy laughter that he just cannot help in the moment. 

                  “Sorry for cuttin’ you off there, couldn’t help myself.” His voice is light and floaty, his cheeks are colored red and his eyes are brighter than they’ve ever been in this moment. “I jus’ realized I was really happy and...I don’t know kissin’ ya just felt right.” He ducks his head after openly admitting to that, a surge of embarrassment washing over him. “That sounds so cheesy out loud.”

              A long hiss escapes past his busted lips due to the hand touching the long scratch on his cheek, he was sure it’d scar, it was a deeper scratch. They both had their own injuries, Remi thinking he might have more due to him trying to be everywhere at once and because he’s always been reckless and never thought before moving into more fighting. The most important thing was that despite their injuries, they were both alive but Remi hated that the other had gotten more injuries than he should have because he’d been trying to help Remi just as Remi had been trying to help him.

             He wanted to feel down but the more that the other male touched his cheek, the more energy and warmth he felt pooling into him. His hands that sported bruised and bloody knuckles reached out for the other male, taking a hand full of his shirt and pulling him closer even though they were already so close to begin with honestly. They’re so close now that their noses are touch and their lips are oh so close to doing the same. His two different colored hues stare into Ame’s and it’s just like instinct takes over as he closes what little distance is left and presses their lips together, eyes fluttering shut after only a moment. His kissing is clumsy, untrained and he is grimacing a little bit as he moves his lips, they burn and hurt due to them being busted and bloody. 

                He pulls back after a moment, lips burning like fire, his body hurting but also feeling electric with energy coursing through him. He leans in and bumps foreheads with Ame, his eyes closed still as he just listens to the other breathing and his fingers continue holding onto the front of his shirt. 

                 “Ame...” The other males name falls past his lips after a moment or two of just silence.
