Trahearne and Malyck wish all their fellow Tyrians the happiest of Halloweens. :)

In my mind, I had this vague idea that this is Trahearne introducing Malyck to the festival of Tyrian Halloween for the first time. And that he is trying to "trick" Malyck into thinking candy corn is a "Tyrian delicacy." Malyck is skeptical - he's observed what it does to those who ingest more candy corn than they can handle.

However I think I was too sleep-deprived when I did the initial sketch, and that doesn't really come through at all. And Trahearne somehow turned out looking more threatening than I intended. As if he is wielding candy corn as a weapon.

And as we all know, candy corn would never be used as a weapon. It would never hurt us.

I tried to draw what I imagine Malyck is looking at in the last post.

I had the dubious urge to practice line drawing, which was (as it tends to be for me) a horrible mistake. You can clearly see the parts I lost patience with and just started painting over, hahaha...ha.

Anyway. The idea for this one is it is right after the fleet of Pact ships, lead by Trahearne, is disabled by Mordremoth's vines. I always enjoyed the idea of a Mordremoth-corrupted Malyck, under the Jungle Dragon's orders, being the one who finds him among the rubble. Our poor Firstborn is alone and disoriented (or maybe Malyck/other Mordrem have picked off any nearby survivors).

Malyck, pulling an injured Trahearne from the battered remains of his ship, tells him with vicious delight how his beloved Pact is vanquished. Not only that, but any survivors have surely abandoned him, after his foolish order to fire into the forests of Mordremoth's domain.

"Your Pact is gone, Marshal. You led them right into the Heart of Maguuma."

Malyck triumphantly presents Trahearne to Mordremoth - certain the Firstborn will soon turn and join them, given his weakened mental state due to his failure to protect the Pact.

I don’t know if it’s canon or not, but I always imagine that sylvari bioluminscence glows most brightly when experiencing intense emotion or physical sensation - whether it’s one of intense pleasure, pain, or mental anguish.

Once in a while, for fun I’ll try out coloring without refining the sketch like I normally do, and 90% of the time I quickly realize this is a terrible mistake. The late hours frequently cause me to make questionable decisions.

I have a headcanon where Mordremoth uses a corrupted Malyck as one of his closest Lieutenants, and tasks him with corrupting a freshly captured Trahearne.

I believe I’ve at last settled on a permanent name for this blog. I put a bit more thought into this one to avoid an immediate desire to change it, unlike with the past two throwaway names, haha.

Wish I had time to paint these two all day. \o/ The potential story possibilities for HoT was such a missed opportunity, unless LS3 magically redeems everything.
