Over the years, I've read tons of books that are super awesome, but never really got to talk to anyone about. So, here I am, a schmancy blog to get my thoughts down. Let's see how this goes, eh?

Black glass stands between us The thin face of otherness Risen into difference These sibling worlds You cannot reach through Or pierce this shade so distinct As to make us unrecognizable Even in reflection The black glass stands And that is more than all And the between us Gropes but never finds Focus or even meaning The between us is ever lost In that barrier of darkness When backs are turned And we do little more than refuse Facing ourselves. ---- Preface to 'The Nerek Absolution' Myrkas Preadict

MBotF | House of Chains (HoC) #1 (short)
Right! Spoilersssssss below. c:
I'm happy to say I've started reading the next book! What I'm not happy to say is dem Uryd.
Right, well. Of all the things I could've expected, I didn't expect the Uryd. I admit, they're really interesting. Alas, I can't say I care for reading about them (thus far). I want to see other characters that I know, and this genius/ignorant jackape Karsa Orlong, Warleader, is kinda annoying to follow (for me, that is). It's interesting, but he's one of them OP guys that need a dhenrabi net or you're fucked sorta thing.
Calm, she was interesting. And the Bone Pass, that was creepy too. Other than that, I'm just kinda pushing through. BUT THIS IS STEVEN ERIKSON. I know he'll come through in the end that will make me love the Uryd somehow. :P

MBotF | MoI #3 - Finished
As usually, here's a spoiler warning for Memories of Ice.
Right. So... Shit. I'm gonna be writing this post as the topics come to me, so yeah. I'll try to keep it sensible. Almost every paragraph is going to be a new topic. Ready yourself for a helluva random read.
First. Whiskeyjack. Fener's balls, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?! He was there SINCE THE FIRST BOOK, and he dies because of that treasonous fuck Kallor? BECAUSE OF HIS LEG. UNGHGHGHGHHGHGHHG.
Right. Um, I was a bit pissy for about an hour after reading that. And I never got to really talk about it, so please excuse the extra immaturity c:
Also... Itkovian. Of all the characters I've read about, there was just something about him that seriously catches my eye. He is like mah man, my Broste Andii, T'bro Imass, my Brolazan, my Bronos T'oolan, Broghut, Fanderbro, Kellenbro, Itbrovian. I could keep going, but I'll stop now. I think you get the idea.
And reading about Itkovian's Gift... :(
And then Toc done speared himself, and then later placed into ANASTER'S body. I dunno about him, but I'd be feelin' kinda gross, ya know what I mean?
And the sister in the Rent. I hadn't seen that coming. And it was such a sad reunion too, Pannion and his lil sis. And then using Omtose Phallack to slow the hell out of the Chained God. Brilliant. Quick Ben, I know I never write about you, but you're the biggest, coolest mystery ever. :D
Speaking of mysteries, Ganoes Paran, Master of the Deck (thank you Raest). He still has tons of power under his belt, and I'm seriously curious as to how it will all play out in the end. You got dis Paran. You and Picker and them.
So who's fucking idea was it to use K'rul's Belfry for a damn bar? "Elder God of Slaughter and Alcoholic Refreshment, Father of Warrens." Doesn't have the same ring to it. Dammit Antsy.
The attack on Coral. Like, seriously. All the fucking characters I loved died. Or most of them, at least. What I expected was slaughter. What I got was Steven Erikson making George R. R. Martin look like a pansy and killed off so many people in one chapter. And then add in a dash of love (Korlat), a rivalry gone sour (Caladan and Dujek), and the internment of almost all of the Bridgeburners into Moon's Spawn. I loved the Bridgeburners. I loved their story, of how they got their name, of how they were harder than the rest. First in, last out. Raraku burning their bridges.... At least some survived and retired to a bar to the god of Slaughter and Alcoholic Refreshments..
And then part of me wants to say "Fuck you, Silverfox," but... I can't. She was a dick, granted, but her means were... Honorable, though misguided on the journey.
Grey Swords. I didn't like them at first, but in the end... Oh god, the Wolf's Reve. Togg, I got yer back.
AND MOK BEAT ONOS? And then Onos told his sis whatfor. It was pretty cool. Seguleh ^_^
So you made it this far and you're not dead? I congratulate you! Dammit how aren't you dead?! Er, I mean, uh. Well, I think I'll try advertising for once. Here, let me try again...
You just read all of that, and you didn't die? Well my friend, if you were willing to read that, why aren't you following this blog already? I mean sure, it's primary thing going on right now is the Malazan Book of the Fallen, but eventually, I'll finish the series and get onto other series! And plus, I like to write about books, and it makes me feel fuzzy when it looks like people read my posts, so there's that. Follow the blog, we can be Brolazans.
... Sorry.

MBotF | MoI #2 - Itkovian (short)
Short post about Itkovian. Spoilers ahead. :)
I didn't think I was going to like any of the Grey Swords that much when I was first reading of them. And the more I read, the more I loved. How it was unveiled, the Shield Anvil's mission, was so sad. He carries the burdens.
Despite his sternness, he was human. It's just so cool to me, to read how these positions actually have true meaning, and not just figuratively. Itkovian felt the burden and burdens of all of Capustan, and he practically cleansed the place. And then he was brought back from the dead. And during that entire section, I felt complete sorrow for him. And then, passing the Grey Swords to a new god was just the icing on the cake. He feels so much sorrow, and it's just... I feel ya man.
"No. I am the Shield Anvil of Fener, and Fener, sir, is... gone."
-Itkovian (pg 602)
He saw the bleakness come to her, saw it, and struggled against the horror of what he had done. Some things should never be shared. And that is my most terrible crime, for to the title - the burden that is Shield Anvil - I gave her no choice.
I gave her no choice.
-Itkovian (pg 603)

MBotF | MoI #1 - Seguleh, Capustan, Pannion Domin
This post will be a tad spoilery and shortish on each part, so if you haven't read Memories of Ice, turn away now!
Seguleh. Alright, these guys are seriously awesome. Their culture based around their masks and their pure fighting prowess. Them being paired with Lady Envy, Tool, Baaljaag, and Garath... So awesome! It's an insane combination of death.
Capustan. I really find these sections of the books interesting. Brukhalian the Mortal Sword, Karnadas the Destriant, Itkovian the Shield Anvil. All of these names are just as cool as their titles, and they feel like they just fit. It's so good! I recently just read the part where Prince Jelarkan talked with Itkovian, who explained that an army was five weeks away, and queue Jelarkan getting pissed that he was left out of the circle, and Itkovian later talking to the Destriant about the armies that were starting to march against them. I'm seriously curious if he'll break his vows... *le winky face*
AND HOOD'S BALLS, DEPOSE OF RATH'FENER KARNADAS. ARGH.
Pannion Domin. Holy shit. Like, seriously. What the fuck. Never in my history of reading have I read something so... Awful, insane. Cannabilsm, torture, Children of the Dead Seed, Tenescowri... Seriously, this is one of the most beautiful, imaginative, and seriously disturbing things I've read. I'm not saying the Domin is beautiful, because they're awful, but it's praise for Erikson. Oh, and the possibility of it being lead by a Jahgut? Well fuck me with a pogo stick. This sounds like the start of the 34th Jaghut War, what the the Imass gathering near Capustan. Oh, and Toc. What the fuck man. I wanted to see him with the Lady.
Also, another thing. Where the hell is Moon's Spawn? I know it's on its way to Capustan, but hell. I'm waiting for that sucker to hover over the Pannion armies and cause dread as Rake fucks shit up. Er, please?
Anyway, that's all I got for now. I'll make more posts as I read and do a back flip. :)

Death and dying makes us children once again, in truth, one last time, there in our final wailing cries. More than one philosopher has claimed that we ever remain children, far beneath the indurated layers that make up the armour of adulthood. Armour encumbers, restricts the body and soul within it. But it also protects. Blows are blunted. Feelings lose their edge, leaving us to suffer naught but a plague of bruises, and, after a time, bruises fade.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen
Alright. So lately, I've been reading the book series "The Malazan Book of the Fallen" by Steven Erikson. This series is ten books long. And from what I understand, the books keep getting bigger. And what can I say about the series? OHMIGAWD.
Oh god, where do I start?
Characters. Every character introduced has a back story. You read a lot of books where a character is introduced and tossed away after their usage. In this series though, each character is very developed, and depending on the character, can go back from a few years to hundreds of years, and even tens of thousands of years. With every character, you'll learn from different parts of their life and will even let you in to see their own perspective. And with this, each character is usually connected to the overall plot, and that point there is a beast in itself.
Plot. The plots are huge. Humongoloid. Gargantuan. Each book so far (I'm on book 3, Memories of Ice), has had their own plots, but in the interactions of the various characters, larger plots are hinted at, and the whole time makes you wonder what the hell they're talking about, and makes you want to read more. For example, one character dies in book one, but in a later book, you find out he actually didn't die. The way it happened is crazy because just that happening causes some things to happen to the character, and opening up more plot points and then bringing more mystery and wonder.
Area and Lore. There are constantly things that link back hundreds of thousands of years to the present point in the book. And the way it's all done fits back into the plot in spectacular ways. And then the lore, well, those hundreds of thousands of years weren't idle. You learn of the Jaghut, an extremely powerful race (similar to orcs) in the ways of magic and preferred solitude. They were grey-skinned and had small tusks and you eventually learn of one named Icarium (he's a crazy story right there). Thousands of years ago, the T'lan Imass went into a war of extinction against the Jagh (and the exact reason hasn't been revealed yet, unless I missed it somehow). There were thirty-three Jaghut wars until the T'lan Imass finally destroyed them. And afterward, because of certain events. the T'lan Imass enforced a ritual that made them all immortal and now look desiccated in the book's present time. The ritual created a new warren, Tellann. Oh, warrens.
Magic and Gods. Another series that completely changes how magic works. All magic pulls from the various warrens, like choosing foods from certain containers. You have the Denul Warren, healing. Rashan Warren, darkness. Kurald Galain, warren of pure dark, arguably the first warren. Starvald Demelain, warren of dragons, and so on and so on. And at a head of a lot of these warrens can be gods. You have Hood, god of death. Oponn, twin gods of luck. Shadowthrone, god of shadows. That's another thing, if you're smart and powerful enough, you could ascend and become a god. A true master of warrens.
For me, this series amazes me. There's so much juicy content that you can sink your teeth into and a constant menagerie of different mysteries. I highly recommend this series, because it's easily becoming my favorite.

First post? :O
Alright, so. Some would wonder what this page is about. To be blunt, books. To be specific, books I'm reading.
After several years of reading certain book series that no one else I know of reads, I decided to make this. So I can talk about books I like, and then I'll just let people decide if they care or not. ^_^
Recently I've been reading a book series called the Malazan Book of the Fallen, but, I'll get to that in a different post. Just sayin', that series got my psyched.
