Things we know: Trauma doesn't just go away due to lack of memories of it (consider all the abuse victims that don't remember what they went through but still live with the trauma), like, that shit literally rewires your brain in a way I don't think a little device would be able to undo Some traumas scar the soul on such a fundamental level that not even the aetherial sea can wipe them away. So imagine you're a kid growing up in Solution 9 with an abusive parent. That parent dies. Your memories of the parent are wiped. Now you have a shitload of PTSD and no possible way of remembering what happened or why you're suddenly hypervigilant.

It's almost like societally enforced gaslighting. How the hell are you going to work through that? You're not allowed those moments where you're like "holy fuck that explains a lot" because all your memories have been removed so you're just stuck with the constant pain and no functional way to untangle why. Especially because Solution 9 seems more like the kind of society where "Happiness is mandatory" but instead of therapists it's being locked away until you start acting better.

A good sign of a well written cyberpunk dystopia is that the horror hits you in a "wait" sort of way.

Because I am one of those people who look at the long trail of blood behind the Warrior of Light, and their characterization moments in HW, where they pursue vengeance, in SB, where they're like, "I'll kill your god even if I don't have to," in the entire Dark Knight questline, and I go, "Yeah, nah, we both should be dead, then."

The Warrior of Light forges numerous relic weapons that use the blood of people to give it strength, when you think about it, but nope. It's ZENOS who's the only monster here.

By the way I remain firm in my belief that the only reason Alisaie comes across as less of a Rich Kid is that she lets Alphinaud say the Stupid Rich Kid Shit first (this is not hard because he talks VERY much) and then just. Acts like she knew that was Rich Kid Shit all along. I think it took Alisaie a Long While to not be mourning the loss of her huge gorgeous perfect bed but someone made fun of Alphinaud for mentioning the "insufficent conditions for rest" early on so now she can never say a thing about it.

Finally back at it again with the headcanon brainstorming and focusing a little more on Au Ra this go around!

I saw a weird meme in a dream I had recently, so I had to recreate it

Seeing it postulated that Zenos' dying wish, his strongest final emotion that shaped the dynamis around him to manifest WoLs transporter- was born of genuine wanting that WoL may yet live on.

Because he showed in his final challenge speech that he finally understood that WoL doesn't want to burn their life for the sake of it, that they still have so much to live for. So in gifting him the end he sought, he gifts us a new beginning in return.
