A sneak peek into Chapter Two of my new fic Roses and Pearls, which will be posted this Thursday!

By the time I finish, we're inches apart. Her face had transformed from confusion to anger, sharp and pointed. A face I’ve seen in flashbacks time and time again.  "That's what you think happened?" Katniss asks. "I know it did." We stare at one another for another moment, her eyes searching my face while I stay stoic, not letting her intimidate me. "You became their piece," she finally says. "I should have realized, seeing you on TV like that. Wearing those ridiculous Capitol clothes, going to their parties, agreeing to host The Hunger Games. There’s nothing left of the Peeta I knew." "Good," I say. "He was weak and pathetic and I’m glad to be rid of him. Now what are you doing here?"

Since I re-read The Hunger Games, I decided to read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as well.

I've got to applaud Suzanne Collins' purely technical writing here, because I honestly feel like I would have despised Coriolanus Snow from the beginning even if I didn't know how the story was ultimately going to end. Taking the story at direct face value, where we see him "fall in love" with Lucy Gray and we see him "help" Sejanus, he is still despicable because we are privy to his internal thoughts all along. You never think "How could this good person have turned evil?" because if you remove all of the actual death and despotism of the sci-fi dystopia he would still be the villain of a Disney Channel movie.

You could put Snow in a romantic comedy or a coming-of-age story or a high-school-drama and you would recognize his character type immediately: The popular kid who falls for the unpopular girl, and befriends the nouveau riche kid that all the other blue bloods bully, but who shows his true nature at the Big Dance when he chooses his old friends over their new relationships. You'd call that twist in the first act.

It shows perfectly how evil can start out not "looking" evil, but can just look petty or self-centered, or can even look noble in certain circumstances, before it blossoms.

I'm choosing to believe that Lucy Gray Baird made good her escape at the end. I'm deciding that she made it. She outwitted Snow, saw right through him at the end, and lived the rest of her life free of him. Completely free.

I'm choosing that for her.

And the boy with blond curls is just having fun ❤️ okay, now we can say “AWWWWWW” together lol

Summary: Valentine's Day is around the corner and no one hates it more than Katniss Everdeen. She keeps receiving messages from a supposed secret admirer, who she's positive is a nonexistent, horrible practical joke. Worse yet, she finds herself falling for her archery student and fellow classmate, Peeta Mellark, who is shy, sweet, sensitive, sexy... and assumably gay.

SOFT ROSY GLOW

“I will focus on my main series” said Lynx on October 5th and then have drawn EVERYTHING but her main series 🤦🏼‍♀️. Seriously though, I really tried. I knew which one should be the next and I opened the sketch several times but something always went wrong. I didn’t like the pose, the faces, suit, hair, everything. I kept redraw and redraw it and it became even worse. So I gave up. But well, I still want to finish this series so I opened this file again and made myself finish it. Maybe it’s not perfect (obviously) but I’m relieved that it’s finally done. So. This is Everlark Outfits #18: Interview after the games.

What do we know about this outfit: When Cinna comes in, he shoos them [prep team] out and dresses me in a white, gauzy dress and pink shoes. Then he personally adjusts my makeup until I seem to radiate a soft, rosy glow. <…> Then Peeta’s there looking handsome in red and white, pulling me off to the side. (The Hunger Games, ch.27)

We finally have some information about Peeta’s outfit, my inner Portia cries in happiness. Also, this is the last outfit of the first book! I’ve drawn them all :) I will post them all together after I redraw/fix some of them (lol, that’s what happen when you draw too slooooooow and can’t look at your first illustrations anymore).

A Case of the Honeymoons ~ Chapter 7 / 7

Summary: Yep. Haymitch cursed us. I’m sure of it. He stepped on my wedding dress train and since then, Peeta and I can’t catch a break. One awkward thing after another keeps happening. Is it too much to ask for a chance at one time, just ONE! uneventful time having sex with my husband? No?

FREEZING

Hey, guys! I’m still not feeling well (a lot better myself but my kids are still sick ugh) but I’m here to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! Lol, its 23:55 here and it’s only 5 minutes until 2022 but it’s kinda feel right to come here and say thank you because you guys made my 2021 way better and I can’t be more grateful.
