Hi Fashion Lovers, Happy Monday! 

Today I will be sharing with you my most loved fashion icon, Mr Harry Styles. The man has Style in his name, how could he not have impeccable style? Harry's style evolution has been through it, but ill only be sharing his more recent and post worthy looks.

Harry is most famously known for being a part of the British boyband One Direction. They had an amazing career at so young, but sadly parted ways in 2015. Since then he has gone on to have an amazing solo career, and has only been on the up since then.

At the start of his solo career, he had a very distinct style. This was around 2017-18 when he released his first album as a solo artist, and was starting to stray away from his boyband persona. He experimented with some color and different patterns, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary for a male pop star. It was him trying to be different, but still playing it safe.

Since then, his style evolution has drastically changed. Harry is known to be good friends with Alessandro Michele, which is most well known for being the most recent creative director of Gucci. He was also the designer of most of Harrys "big" outfits.

One of Harry's most "controversial" outfits was the dress he was wearing in his December 2020 Vogue magazine cover. This was significant because he was the first male to be on the cover solo, and wearing a dress. The dress he was wearing was beautiful, it flowed perfectly, and of course was designed by Alessandro. Although, it sparked way too much controversy. Candace Owens, is a conservative author that posted on social media responding to Harrys cover that we should "bring back manly men". This sparked a craze that was so unnecessary. Nothing about him wearing a dress makes him any less manly, its simply just fabric.

As Alessandro was the designer behind this iconic look, he was also behind my most favorite looks worn by Harry. These would be his Coachella 2022 looks, as well as his "Harryween" 2021 costume.

His first weekend headlining, he was wearing a multicolor sequin jumpsuit paired with black leather boots. This look was so eye catching and colorful, it looked so good when it hit the lights at the right angle and gave a mirrorball effect. Not only was his look fab, but he brought out Shania Twain to twin with him. They sang a couple iconic duets such as her hits "Man I feel like A Woman" and "You're still the one". Their outfits were giving disco glam, and they matched perfectly. Although I loved the rainbow, I'd say his weekend 2 outfit was my favorite. The metallic pink was perfect, and the details of his initials on his pockets and cherry and strawberry appliqués were stunning!! So many fans recreated this look for his concerts and it was amazing, definitely one of his most iconic looks. The second weekend around, he brought out one of his besties Lizzo. They matched perfectly with the twinning pink looks.

For another fave of mine, I have to talk about his Dorothy costume. Harry has had several concerts on Halloween, that he famously calls Harryween. Everyone dresses up in amazing costumes, and he sings a special song pertaining to who he dresses as. In 2021, him and his band dressed as the beloved characters from the classic movie The Wizard Of Oz.

This costume was incredible!!!! Honestly I'm biased because the Wizard Of Oz has to be in my top favorite movies, but this costume was everything to me. The details of the boots with the blue socks, the basket of toto, hearts on the dress, and the blush on the cheeks. Everything that he needed to have, he did. And on top of that, he had to sing somewhere over the rainbow during this concert. It was all phenomenal. I had the incredible luck to attend Harryween this past year when he hosted it in LA. He dressed as Danny Zuko from Grease, and I dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Now it wasn't anything designed by Alessandro, but I do think it was pretty cute.

This is Matilda Djerf, the “poster girl for scandi cool” (The New York Times). She is 25-years old, and doing great things in the world of fashion. Matilda Djerf is considered to be a trend-setter, with her perfectly blow-dried curtain bangs, glossy sun-kissed skin, and beautiful sense of fashion and style. Her brand, Djerf Avenue displays a classy range of non-seasonal, ready-to-wear looks. Since Ms. Djerf has a pretty signature look, I want to focus on her general style, instead of one outfit in particular. In order to get the Djerf look, here’s what you need: 

An oversized top. This could be a blazer, a button-up shirt, a leather jacket, or a peacoat. You name it, as long as it’s oversized!

A fitted undershirt, or no shirt underneath. Matilda Djerf often has a baby tee or a nice tank top in her most classic looks, but occasionally we see her with an oversized blazer that’s buttoned with nothing underneath. Chic!

Baggy trousers. The pants either match the blazer she’s wearing or they are a neutral, beige color. Not a fan of trousers? A nice skirt will do. This could be maxi, mini, midi, knit, silk, whatever you’d like. Most often black or neutral colors.

As for shoes, there is a variety. Matilda switches her shoe choices from Balance or Adidas sneakers, sandals with a stiletto heel, or a leather boot.

Lastly, accessorize with a baguette bag, some gold jewelry, and a scarf if it's cold outside!

Hiii fashion lovers, Happy Monday! 

This week I will be sharing my current “OBSESIÓN” , Kali Uchis. This Columbian queen just wrapped up her Red Moon In Venus Tour Part II, and I had the great pleasure of attending. Her outfits are as stunning as her voice, where she prides herself in an amazing singing career. 

One thing about Kali, she's going to look amazing on tour. She started her tour wearing more intricate and revealing outfits,  that everyone absolutely loved. But as her tour went on she started feeling self conscious and opted for flowy babydoll dresses (pictured first), that allowed her to focus on her singing and not her body. 

Although these outfits were not what her male audience wanted to see her in, I’m glad she took this move and chose what made her feel confident and happy with herself. She isnt usually one for huge designers, but tends to support more individual designers. Her concert looks were designed by smaller names such as Olima Studio and Venus and Violet. 

Although I didn’t say she never wears big designers… 

Kali was decked out in Dolce & Gabbana for her 2023 Coachella performance and this look definitely served. Her outfits are always giving 2000’s vibes, and this all denim definitely did that. I love the details of the rhinestones and butterflies, especially the belt buckle with her name on it. Her style is anything but basic, and you can tell. This look was so fab!! 

Speaking of denim, Kali designs her own line of “levanta cola” Columbian inspired denim. Her brand is called “Bodied by Uchis”. Something special about her is that she prides herself with being Latina, and doesn't try to diminish it in any way. This makes her a huge inspiration for myself, and all the prideful Latinas that are influenced by her. 

Colombian jeans are made to enhance your figure, and make your butt look amazing. Kali uses this butt lifting technology in her jeans, shorts, and skirt designs. Her line is 100% made in Columbia and is ethical and eco friendly. This is important because in no way is it mass produced. I’ve seen lots of celebs collaborate with Shein or other fast fashion, and not really care about the impact this has on the environment. As her designs are a bit pricier, considering her fan base is mostly teen and young adults, I am definitely on the waitlist for these jeans and will be purchasing as soon as they are available. Her ultimate goal is centered around “putting respect on Latin America and Colombia's name," as well as embracing the cultural assets the Latina community were long ridiculed for.” I applaud her for this because it honestly isn't super common with celebs nowadays. Her designs help shine a light on something that is traditional to her culture, instead of looking for European and Americanized designs and creating any regular jeans, she is choosing to represent a part of her. 

I wish Kali would tour forever so we can keep seeing these beautiful outfits she has. But just like her tour, I’m going to have to wrap up this post till next time.

Ah yes, Timothée Chalamet. Our favorite American-French actor, only 27-years old, is extremely talented in each of his films as well as his fashion choices, and today we’re going to focus on one of his best red carpet looks.

This striking red backless pantsuit is a custom piece by Haider Ackermann, a French designer from Bogotá, Columbia. Ackermann is known for his “signature draped forms and intricate designs” (Business of Fashion). We can see this in Timothée’s set, as the satin top drapes from his neck, down his chest to his waistline, with a tie-like scarf in the center of the garment.  The suit was paired with pointed-toe black leather boots, thin-framed black sunglasses, and Cartier rings. If there’s one thing we can call Timothée Chalamet, it’s chic.

To end, I want to leave you with a few of Timothée Chalamet’s past red carpet looks, so you understand what I mean by chic, bold, and eye-catching. He has a fairly consistent style, each look fitting a similar aesthetic but still having its own unique features.

Happy Monday fellow fashion lovers!!

This week during Hispanic Heritage month, you know I had to cover the queen of all Latinas, the queen of Tejano music … Selena Quintanilla 

As Selena is an icon for all the Latinas, she is primarily known for her singing abilities, but what some don't know about her is she was also often her own designer for her outfits. 

She had inspiration from Madonna, Cher, Cindi Lauper, and all the ladies of the 80s. 

Featured in Selena the movie, one of her first designs was a bedazzled bustier that her mom helped her make. Her dad being an overprotective Mexican dad wasn't pleased with this bustier she wore on stage, but Selena had to go against his wishes to be a fashion icon. So glad she chose herself and had the confidence to wear these because wow she kills these looks! Here are a few of my favorite bedazzled bustier looks that she wore 

Something I especially love about her is her unique designs. She designed these matching cow print outfits for her band for their 1991 San Antonio concert, and lets just say the guys weren't too happy about being dressed in this. I think they rocked this look and maybe it was too niche for their era, but fashion lovers nowadays definitely appreciate this look more. 

You didn't think I would finish this post without talking about her purple jumpsuit? Don't be silly now. Although Selena had countless amazing looks, this has to be her most iconic. She wore this blinged out glitter jumpsuit with a matching bolero for her Astrodome concert in 1995. This was one of her last concerts, with one of the biggest crowds she performed for. She looked amazing in this jumpsuit! The bell bottoms, the criss cross halter neck top, the silver boots, and the reveal of the top under the bolero … this outfit is worth the hype. 

Her outfit was sooo iconic, we have celebs nowadays recreating this look for halloween. I mean I'm guilty, I have been Selena for halloween. Although Kim, Demi, and America are serving looks with their costumes.

My favorite part of this look is the hat that Miss Swift is wearing. This is a hat from Janessa Leone, and I am just OBSESSED with the color! I think this captures the essence of Red (Taylor’s Version) because of how well it pairs with her iconic red lip. I think that everything about this cover shoot is done perfectly, down to the details of the matching red car.

One big theme throughout the Era’s Tour was sequins!! When I went to the show back in July, during the entire show I was blinded by Taylor’s ravishing sparkles. How dazzling she looked on that stage strutting to all of her billboard hits such as Cruel Summer, Bejeweled, Style, and even more that there’s too many for me to list!

Happy September, fashion lovers! 

Here at Fluent in Fashion, we love September for many reasons–the beginning of Autumn, pumpkin spice lattes, and of course, our queen Beyoncé’s birthday month. Luckily for the rest of the world, Beyoncé has been on her world tour for her most recent album, Renaissance, and along with breathtaking music Beyoncé has given us some show-stopping looks.

Today we’re focusing on the look below. Ah, yes. Sequins and a fur coat–what’s not to love? Beyoncé sported this Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini piece for a show in East Rutherford, New Jersey this past July.

Luckily, this coat is eco-friendly, as the brand announced their fur-free policy starting from the SS20 Women’s collection, meaning that they no longer use animals in the production of fur pieces (PRADAGroup). Round of applause for that! Lastly, we see the matching, metallic thigh-high boots and a pair of very unique sunglasses.

Overall, this custom Beyoncé look is classic yet unique in its own way, with a fun twist. Many artists wear sequin bodysuits while performing, and we've even seen Beyoncé wear bodysuits to perform in the past–but not all artists wear custom made Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini bodysuits on tour.
