listen. if your religion requires you to reject a part of yourself, its unhealthy.

His loving gaze riddles me with guilt - I am disgusting to look at. When he touches my clawed hands, I cannot help but cringe. He’ll be tainted like this. Does he not know what the hands he caressed have done? What cruelties the lips he kissed have said? How many blows this body has taken? He is in love with a monster, and still he calls me beautiful.

OH i forgot to post this, but last night i was hanging with my friend (the one i thought hated otherkin). and she was talking to me and she was telling me that human beings are inherently evil, and that they would always do bad things. and then she proceeded to say “but not you. you’re like…an alien. that’s why you’re so good, it’s that you’re not human so you’re not inherently evil.”

and while she was wrong about my specific brand of non-humanism (dragonkin), the thought still counts.

so i wanted to post this to remind those of us in the community who are feeling a little down that hey!! we’re actually pretty cool, if you think about it this way

Hey I saw your post about how your significant other felt your wings without knowing you were otherkin and I'm honestly thoroughly intrigued. I try to be involved as much as possible with my soul and the spirit world and such, and just, that someone else can feel your astral wings?? That really amazes me and I'd like to get some more information if you're inclined to share!

My mate grew up around various kinds of folk magic, and is both a very skilled Christian witch, and tremendously sensitive to and aware of energy.They gave me a back massage (a practice for which I and my knotted muscles are infinitely grateful) and afterward seemed oddly thoughtful for a couple of minutes.And then the question. “So… Why do you have wings?”They, in touching my aura, experienced the quasi-physical sensation of wings on my back.It took my brain a moment to click over and confirm I had heard that right. We had not discussed the subject of otherkin. I had faded out of the community a couple of years prior, mostly because of a period during which I didn’t really have internet access.

When I caught up to the fact that I hadn’t answered yet I said something to the effect of “probably because I’m a dragon.”Which my marvelous mate took completely in stride as I explained, and the rest is history.
