This is from my fic Make Believe (Omegaverse Byler), chapter 18. I’m still writing the chapter and there wasn’t a lot to choose from that wouldn’t be a big spoiler. So, here’s a sneak peek I guess 🙈 Also this is technically 7 sentences but oh well.

Mike was only a few feet away when a leaf crunched beneath his shoe.

Lucas’s shoulders jumped for a split second before he slowly looked back. Mike couldn’t make out his face, but his voice was still as bitter as it had been inside the house.

“What do you want?”

“I just want to talk.”

“Yeah, you want to gloat?” Lucas laughed. “You’re getting your way after all.”

September 1st marks the beginning of the holiday season (according to me), therefore I'm reading If You Stay again. Byler holiday classic-in-the-making ftw. 💚

The closer we get to the holidays, the easier it is for me to write it too! I’d anticipate a new chapter coming out within the next couple months 💛

It’s on hiatus for the moment but I will be returning to it eventually. I’m still working to improve my update schedule as it is. I like getting out more than one thing a month. So, once I find that rhythm again, that’s when I’ll probably pick Ever After back up again.

I love the story too. I actually just reread it today lol. Thank you!

I live for the angst, make "If You Stay" just as dramatic and angsty as you wish! It makes the fluffy parts all the more worthwhile. <3

Lmao thank you! The angst finds its way into everything I write so it will be happening in If You Stay whether I want it to or not. Although… whenever I start thinking ahead to what’s gonna happen later, it always makes me tear up.

Hope you don’t regret this ask at that point! 😅

If You Stay Update & Other News

Hello! I apologize for my writing absence for all of February. My life is kind of wild right now and I had to step back from fandom things for a bit because of it. I’m still trying to get back into the rhythm of things and I promise that I am actively working toward continuing all of my fics. If You Stay was meant to be updated by now and it is my top writing priority.

I’ve rewritten the next chapter more than once now and I’m still not happy with where it’s at. Since I’m already past the deadline I made for myself, I’m going to spend a little longer on it. I’d rather share with you something I’m proud of than something I detest (especially since I’ve been looking forward to this part of the story for so long). 

Because of all of this, my other works have been neglected too. I’m hoping to update Make Believe and Vale of Shadows this month too, but for now, please take the updates as happy little surprises. I don’t know when they’ll happen for sure and I don’t want to promise dates. 

Your continued patience and support mean the world to me. 💛

Hello!!! I was wondering, just out of curiosity, do you already know how many chapters your fics are going to have?

I don't know the exact chapter numbers, to be honest. I have a general idea of what they'll be but sometimes I write more or less than what I was expecting. I also have a habit of writing things a little differently than what I originally outlined.

It's hard to know for sure since I usually only outline a few chapters ahead of what's posted. I can tell you this though, of my chaptered works, I believe that Vale of Shadows and Ever After are over halfway done. Make Believe is structured to have three acts in it. Since Act I consisted of 14 chapters, I don't expect the others to be any longer than that. I have almost all of Act II outlined and it's shorter than the first as of now. If You Stay is the one I'm the most unsure of. I let the characters drive that story forward so I have a hard time predicting the time it will take to cover certain aspects of the fic (bonding with friends, wedding planning, etc.).

I love all of your stories! I'm especially fond of If You Stay. I think it's because, regardless of which AU you place the characters in, you always keep the characterizations on point. Your Mike, in particular, feels truer to canon than most versions of him I've read on Ao3. Thanks for sharing your excellent stories, I always look forward to more.

I spend a lot of time working on the characterizations, but I'm only ever confident with Mike. He's my favorite character and I love how complex he is. Writing him is always a blast. I still need to get a handle on the other characters, but I'm really happy that you enjoy my fics.

I'm sorry my updates have been on pause for a bit. I needed to take a step back from the fandom for a little while, but I think I might be ready to return to writing again. I'm still planning to get the next chapter of If You Stay up this month, so look out for it! 🧡

January Update Schedule

Hello! December was crazy for me and threw off my whole schedule. So, now I’ve come up with a temporary thing. Here’s what the rest of this month is going to look like.

Make Believe: Chapter 15 will go up on the 19th

Vale of Shadows: Chapter 15 up on the 24th

Ever After: Skipping this month

If You Stay: Chapter 10 up in February 

As of right now, Vale of Shadows is my top priority to write. This means it will get updated at least twice a month if possible. Make Believe and If You Stay will be updated at least once a month. Ever After is my lowest priority fic and while I hope to update it once a month, if I’m falling behind, it might not always make the cut.
