Work in Progress: QuickType Poetry

Apple’s smarter-than-you’d-expect-but-of-course-still-pretty-dumb QuickType feature writes some great poetry. I’m not convinced it’s a useful tool for actually assisting us with composing our thoughts, but it has a lot of potential when stretched beyond its utilitarian limits.

Here’s a little collaborative poetry, co-written by myself, the phantom of myself that is expressed in the neural net woven by the QuickType algorithm after years of written communication on Apple devices, and the in-the-moment QuickType algorithm I access through the Touch Bar on the 13″ 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

Though the system may produce identical poems when the same writing process is repeated, the black box creating the poems is different each time.
