one of my favorite facts about gekko hayashi (artist who drew gay erotica) is that he was straight guy who pivoted from sci-fi & monster stuff to illustrating for gay & bdsm mags at like 50 years old because he wanted to expand his artistic horizons, and compensated by lack of lived experience by setting up a phone line for gay men to call in & recount their stories so he could illustrate them...legend

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 2x02 | Do You Know What It Means to Be Loved by Death Welcome! To the displacement of reason. And the excretion of pathetic desires. By that I mean… Good evening. What you're about to see… is, for you, an outrage that masks a birth and a rebirth of what is [...] Instead of mere human drama, we here at Theatre Des Vampires, delve into the underbelly of the human soul, to present to you the highest form of art in the lowest of ways! Have you repressions that need airing? Oh, you've come to the right place. Phobias toward your next of kin? Amis, we assist in turning down the sheets! Bloodlust?! Fear of the insane?! I salute your honesty. Right after I take my boot from your arse! But seriously, mes amis, being vampires, and by nature superior to you mortals, we can replicate the level of bilge necessary to disrupt your tiny ship called human decency. In fact, we capsize it. So, if you don't leave here tonight seeing the world upside down and liking very much what you see, and feel, then we here at Theatre Des Vampires, have failed in our jobs which is, at the heart of it, to laugh alongside your misery while you cry and scream for more.

When Toni Morrison said the grandeur of life is the attempt, not the solution… And how she went on to explain that it’s about behaving as beautifully as one can under completely impossible circumstances. The power that has, you know? It’s really just the making room for what breathes in the presence of the attempt. In the coming-to-be.

A pearl, prized from the flesh, greedy fingers digging at the pit.
Something was stolen from you, and you are left hollow.

There is nothing that the West will despise more than the people having hope. There is a deep rooted hatred for hope in the very essence of Capitalism. It hates when we create, when we feed one another, when we take care of our elderly and youth, it spits in our faces when we take care of ourselves. If it cannot be packaged up and monetised, it will be torn apart and destroyed.
So cook your friends a meal, start painting more, use your local library, donate old clothes instead of selling them, show up to rallies and protests, make music with your friends for the hell of it, volunteer at a soup kitchen. Think not only for yourself, but for the community in which you operate in.
The world is not cruel, it is not unjust, not if we do our part. Have hope, grip onto it, with everything that you do. Do not let the global superpowers that taunt us, destroy you. For Palestine, for the future, for the world we are yet to see.
