     THE thought of meal prepping had never crossed her mind. she paused a moment to think about kino’s question. “it might work if you’re on a diet or if you have to work so late no good places to eat are open.” despite being his hoobae, minha enjoyed acting like kino’s self proclaimed ‘cool aunt’. “you’re not boring me, kino! i think the same way. it feels like my mind goes at light speed sometimes,” she confessed with a small laugh. “but bee’s doing good! something was really fun to promote, i missed being with my members, honestly. i met a few cute girls and a cute guy, but i’ve got my eye on one person specifically.” she closed one of her eyes and held up her index finger to her lips. after a moment, she laughed and returned to her original position. “are you dating anyone right now? cause auntie minha might need to give them a stern talking with….”

   there weren’t many people that kino relied on, minha being apart of that special group. though she was considered a hoobae in the eyes of the public, none of those titles ever mattered to kino. having found friends in countless other groups that had debuted long after decipher had. “do you really? it’s the worst isn’t it? i swear sometimes i can’t even sleep because i’m just thinking about my schedule for the next day or if i forgot something.” with their comeback quickly coming up, kino knew he’d have to find a proper way to make sure he was eating at a decent time everyday. the last thing he wanted was to make his members worry and those around him that knew of his struggles. “do you now? that’s exciting!” ever since his relationship began with yejun, he found himself more excited at the thought of other people finding that same happiness. “i think we’re at a point now where we can tell others, but please don’t make it a big deal about it either way. but yes i am, yejun is my better half and also my best friend of like fifteen years i think, maybe more who knows.”

   “do you think meal prepping actually works?” kino asked randomly, having been thinking about the idea for the past couple of days. he’s always been trying to find the proper way to moderate how he eats daily. “like i get the concept behind it, because you can come home and have a meal already there. but like i just think i’d want to go out to eat, and then all of that hard work goes to waste.” minha was an important person to him, both being in the same company together. bee had debuted a couple of years after decipher but kino still looked up to her and the rest of the members at the end of the day. “i’m sorry noona, i don’t mean to bore you with all of my random thoughts. tell me about you, how is everything going with bee? and with you of course. meet any cute guys yet? or girls? you never know these days.”

    kino still found it hard to believe that he was a senior to most idol, given they were all close in age. decipher had debuted almost eleven years prior and was still going strong after so long, their fans having stuck with the group through everything. being in the industry for so long has allowed him to perfect his image, especially when it comes to variety shows. he’s always enjoyed being able to show a different side to him, one that can be a bit more open compared to whenever decipher has a comeback. it’s how he met noah, the pair quickly bonding over the most random things. kino was there to help the younger male whenever he needed it, he knew variety wasn’t for everyone. “i don’t know why you think you’re not funny.” kino mumbled, taking a sip from his americano. “also since you’re so cute, hosts will love you. they all love the cute one, let that work for you and everything else will come later.”

      OUR PLACE. nothing else mattered at the moment, the food before him forgotten as the pace of heartbeat within chest quickened, skipping a beat as well. breath hitched, coffee stained orbs drawn to the physique of his lover ahead. how casual the sentiment spilled from parsed lips, almost as if no bigger meaning intertwined. yejun, though, couldn’t help but be taken back by the realization. overtime, kino has been leaving his belongings behind, and slowly the place was no longer just one of a single man. rather, it was a space owned by a man and his boyfriend. yejun and kino. kino and yejun. his place became more a home—more comfortable. with kino over so often, he even copied a key for him. this was, indeed, their place. “kino …” he picked up the plate of food, moving it aside in order to pull his boyfriend closer, pressing a kiss on his forehead while pulling him tightly for an embrace of immense enthusiasm and gratitude. “i love you so much,” another kiss on the top of head, another on cheek. “this is our place, huh? right, oppa?” he teases the male once again, a bright smile over lips. “i won’t call you oppa, okay? but only if you do this one thing for me.” a smile brighter, yejun placing yet another kiss on tip of nose. “since you love viola and i so much, just move in with me. yeah? let’s officially make this our place. would that be okay with you?”

   he knew what he had said, and didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. of course no matter where they were, yejun would always give kino the feeling of being home. and the idea of living together wasn’t one he hadn’t thought of from time to time, but figured that it was far too soon. yes they’ve been best friends for years, but have only been dating for less than five months. somewhere in the back of his mind, he was still scared of ruining everything and simply wanted to take things slowly. at least his heart was telling him to do things differently, and that’s the path he decided to go down. he no longer thought about life without including yejun, always wanting to know what the other male thought. kino wrapped his arm around yejun’s waist as he was pulled in, giggling softly. it was amazing for him to watch the transformation yejun had gone under since they started dating, the softness that had come to the surface. it often reminded him of the young boy from his childhood. “i love you too, silly. and of course this is our place, i mean it was yours first but now it’s ours.” he didn’t realize how good it was to say out loud, to finally have a home with the one person who mattered to him the most. “i’d do anything for you.” he responds softly, eyes closing as yejun kisses his nose. “well i thought you’d never ask, handsome. i pretty much live here already if you think about it.” he was silently freaking out, excitement flowing through him. “now you get to wake up next to me every single day, and i’ll make you any american breakfast you want. just say the word, and i’ll add a fresh bouquet of flowers as well.”

      THEY WERE GOOD FOR EACH OTHER, and they were at a very good place as of late. since their last argument, yejun has made a greater effort to be a better partner. he no longer wanted to be too emotional and let his anger ruin relationships. with how good the two were, kino was nearly at his place every night whenever the two were not dragged out of the city. kino, gradually, was making his place at yejun’s apartment permanent, and yejun did not mind that at all. in fact, he welcomed the progress. so much so he even got his key copied for kino to have a copy; therefore, he can walk in whenever he wanted to. they were in a very good place. “it is an american breakfast.” he pouted, remembering these are the breakfasts his step-mother would prepare for the young boy when he first migrated to the state ( forced, of course ). he liked the meals, that much known for kino did, after all, make an american meal as opposed to the traditional korean breakfast. “what were you doing to get distracted?” he posed while sitting up more comfortably, reaching for his fork to cut a bite of the pancake. when trying the cake, he smiled. it wasn’t the worst he had. he cuts another piece, extending his arm to let kino have a bite. “you are going to hold me hostage at my own place?” he chuckled, a wide smile, dimples carved as the wrinkles on his nose moved his glasses further up. “you are too cute. i don’t mind you keep me hostage. you are a very hot kidnapper, oppa.” the term at the end in tease, recalling someone referring to kino as oppa—a term he knew his boyfriend did not like.

    the one thing he learned from their past few arguments was to simply let go. it was only when he held onto things that were bothering him that everything seemed to go to shit. kino also knew better how to approach sensitive topics with yejun, the main reason for their last fight. he never wanted to be the reason the relationship failed, having loved yejun for so long that just wasn’t an option. he’s not too sure how long things have been good, and stopped trying to count the days. simply wanting to focus on the good moments and stop waiting for the bad moments to show up again. it was only natural that they end up at one of their homes, it just so happened that kino often spent most of his time at yejun’s place. his clothes slowly finding their own home along with other things he brought over and never took back home. it was only when yejun handed him his own key that the place felt more like home. “well viola is very distracting as you know, and she was just rubbing against my leg. so of course i had to pick her up and pet her because she’s just the cutest.” he smiled, the cat was very close to him and there was no way he could simply just ignore her. “just think about it, our place is pretty cozy to be held hostage. you have food, anything you could really want and your cute boyfriend.” he couldn’t help but scrunch his nose hearing the term, a tiny giggle escaping his lips. “please, i’ll do whatever you want but never call me that again.”

“If you weren’t dancing…” Guanyu tilted their head to the side, much like one might imagine a confused kitten would. They must make a funny sight, in a full split on the floor in a rather unorthodox attempt to both stretch out and rest at the same time. “… have you ever thought about what you’d be doing instead?” It was only as they finished their sentence that they realized that, if faced with the same question, they probably wouldn’t know how to reply to it. Dancing had always been The One, so to say. It was hard to fathom people looking twice at them if it weren’t for the fact that they could, in the very flattering words of a fan, move like they were made out of music themselves. “Like. If you had never been part of Decipher. Can you imagine what your life would be like?”

The question catches him off guard, it being asked when he leasts expects it. Dancing had been something he’s always done, even when it caused him the most pain. The thought of not being able to do it was something he never wanted to think about. Though he’d be lying if it never happened. “I probably would have gone to America.” He shrugged, knowing that if he hadn’t become a trainee then he’d want to be with Yejun even if it was only for a short time. “And then I don’t know, maybe become a dance instructor. Something completely normal and lowkey, I’d just want to live life without having to worry. What about you? What would you be doing?”
