My least favorite thing about these fandoms is the way a really interesting dynamic in canon gets reduced to nerd/himbo, or even more alarmingly, girlboss/“malewife.” This happens even with some Spirk fans despite the ship being m/m. It’s unfortunate because Annabeth and Scully are legitimately barrier breakers for the time when they were written, but their reduction to girlbosses by fandom and later canon lacks nuance. Moreover, there’s legitimately non-traditional masculinity in Kirk, Mulder and Percy (the first of these two being Jew-ish masculinity, Percy is hopelessly goyische) but their reduction to “malewives” is really hopelessly gender essentialist and disappointing. So I don’t even read fic of my ships because of this. 2/3 fandoms also excuse and write abuse so.

Health issues vent about all the things that have virtually gone away post quitting my job

Have not had any floaters/signs of retina issues related to degenerative myopia

Do not have headaches at the end of the day from eye strain despite doing close work

Have had only 1 migraine in 8 months as opposed to one every few weeks

Have only had 3 colds in 8 months as opposed to one every few weeks

No jaw pain

No hip pain

Problems from pelvic floor issues (TMI) have totally gone away

Maybe especially because he doesn’t. Mulder debating explanations of the ten plagues with Scully in his kittel over Passover dinner. Mulder giving Scully his jacket in their balcony sukkah. Mulder wiping powdered sugar off Scully’s nose after she bites into a sufganiya on Chanukah.

Mulder, a reclaimed celebration of all things Jewish, instead of merely the problematic stereotypes the writers gave him.
