Modern ships - Environment issues at sea.
Commercial ships burn heavy fuel oil, which causes harmful air pollution. Therefore, some ships have equipment fitted to clean exhaust gases. Unfortunately, these so-called 'scrubbers' pump pollution into the sea.
Marine transportation still generates negative impacts on the marine environment, including air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, releases of ballast water containing aquatic invasive species, historical use of antifoulants, oil and chemical spills, dry bulk cargo releases, garbage and underwater noise.
The Torrey Canyon oil spill was one of the world's most serious oil spills. The super tanker SS Torrey Canyon ran aground on rocks off the south-west coast of the United Kingdom in 1967, spilling an estimated 25–36 million gallons (94–164 million litres) of crude oil.

Storms at sea - Wind propelled vessels.
The forces acting on a ship in a storm were tremendous. Running directly before the wind brought the danger that waves would break over the stern (back) of the ship, This could cause damage due to the weight of water - up to the possibility of crushing the ship’s structure. It could also simply dump so much water aboard that the vessel would sink under the water’s weight. The sails and masts needed to be protected. Very high winds could rip a sail to shreds, leaving the vessel with no forward momentum and therefore at the mercy of the sea.

Sir John Franklin's Expedition to the Antarctic 1845
Franklin's lost expedition was a failed British voyage of Arctic exploration led by Captain Sir John Franklin that departed England in 1845 aboard two ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, and was assigned to travel across the last unnavigated sections of the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic and to record magnetic data to help determine whether a better understanding could aid navigation. The expedition met with disaster after both ships and their crews, a total of 129 officers and men, became icebound in Victoria Strait. After being icebound for more than a year Erebus and Terror were abandoned in April 1848, by which point two dozen men, including Franklin, had died. The survivors, now led by Franklin's second-in-command, Francis Crozier, and Erebus's captain, James Fitzjames, set out for the Canadian mainland and disappeared, presumably having perished.
A series of scientific studies in modern times suggested that the men of the expedition did not all die quickly. Hypothermia, starvation, lead poisoning or zinc deficiency and diseases including scurvy, along with general exposure to a hostile environment while lacking adequate clothing and nutrition, killed everyone on the expedition in the years after it was last sighted by a whaling ship in July 1845. Cut marks on some of the bones recovered during these studies also supported allegations of cannibalism reported by Franklin searcher John Rae in 1854.
The expedition was made into an American supernatural horror TV Series called The Terror. It was developed as a fictionalised account of Sir John Franklin's lost expedition to the Antarctic.

My A2 poster progress. It feels a lot more full and unique, my last poster I did was just screenshots of my renders whereas this feels like a movie poster. It was heavily inspired by an alternative poster for The Goonies.

For the title for my poster I want something bold and I want all of the individual letters to be readable so these two fonts I think work best.
Whereas this font the G almost could look like a C or from a distance and O so this font won't work.
This is the title font I have gone with. I will need to edit it a little and maybe change the colour to make sure it fits in with the poster.

Starting to put together a new poster as the first trial I did was plain whereas this is more like an alternative movie poster.
Edit: Using all of the white sketches looks very out of place so I will only be using some of them. And instead the the wax seal I have used another render to create a seal.
Added a border to my seal to fill up the empty space.

Targets.
I have completed my 3D model as much as I could as the software is still down and I believe I have done what I said I was going to do.
I need to start planning my portfolio sheets.
I also need to create the A2 poster for the end of year show.

I used my wax seal template to create these wax molds. They all looked really good but they all had air bubbles within them as the seal may have been to deep or I waited to long before putting the template on the wax.

DZO
Under the odd name of DZO, is Olivier, a self-taught artist and freelance designer from the South of France. For DZO is more than your usual artist. His art, speaks to the old etchings and engravings of religious and occult manuscripts, flirts with alchemy, witchcraft and blasphemy. It is at the same time disturbing, haunting and stimulating. His intricate drawings, full of enigmatic detail, mix sensuality, darkness and mythology.
