Such a beautiful sunrise. ☀️ The birds in the video and photos fly for two years straight without ever landing. 😳 The Ranger told us they sleep with one side of their brain while the other side remains active. So wild!!

He was sleeping so soundly (last pic), how could I have disturbed that. ♥️

The sun is setting. It’s been a long day of traveling. I’m exhausted from the ride and getting sick. I took a short nap while Nathan cooked. We had veggie burgers and they were delish! He saw two rats while cooking. He said they were the size of opossums. 😳 🐀 No food or drink in your tents as the rats have been known to gnaw through. 😫

Still up top. You can see our ferry leaving in the distance. A little bit of a scary feeling when you’re left on an island. 🙂

We walked along the fort and went into the small museum inside the visitor’s center. 🏝 🐚

We finally arrived after a very awful ferry ride. I (Molly) got very sick!! 😢 Six to seven foot swells for 2 hours makes Molly a VERY sick girl. 🤢

Once we arrived we had a 15 minute informational session with a Ranger, grabbed all of our gear put it into bins and wheeled it over to our site. We chose the overflow area instead of the camping sites in the trees. The trees have palm rats that are the size of a small raccoon 😳. They also have hundreds of hermit crabs. I enjoy the view and the breeze of the overflow area better anyway. 🌊

4:45 came early this morning, but the roosters helped us wake up. 🐓 ☺️ We made it and are about to board! The process has been great so far!

Last night getting ready for the trip. 😳😂

Tomorrow we leave on a ferry and only have the food we take with us for four days. While we were walking down a Key West street tonight I said, “maybe we should eat something good tonight, like Italian maybe?” At that exact moment a woman jumps out and says, “you guys hungry?” It was an Italian restaurant with vegan ravioli as the special. 😂 We had the best dinner with Lucy as our waiter. The food/drinks were delicious!! 🍝 🍷 😋

We didn’t do the tour but we went to Ernest Hemingway’s home. Hemingway’s cat, Snow White, has many descendants that still live at the home. There are currently 40-50 of Hemingway’s cats, some six toes and all, still roaming his estate. 🐈 Super cool!

Road trip pause to do some swinging in Key Largo. 💕 “The swing is the banana of recreation, because it’s so satisfying but yet so simple and reliably good.” 😂😂
