The Chronical Thus Far
The Hunt and the Horror
Their first true trial awaited them in the Hall of Oracles. There, amid whispering echoes and the shimmer of magical energies, a mysterious voice thundered from the very walls: a challenge of orientation, a scavenger hunt across the hallowed grounds of the Biblioplex, with prizes promised to the clever and the bold.
Together they deciphered riddles and hunted enchanted curios. They patted awakened shrubs that rustled with delight, discovered an aged portrait of a retired alumnus, and performed before an invisible audience in the amphitheatre. Along their journey, they met eccentric scholars, rival students, and magical creatures that watched them with ancient eyes.
Their perseverance was rewarded handsomely:
A lantern enchanted to burn ever-bright
A pennant bearing the crest of Strixhaven
Potions of healing, warm with restorative magic
A tiny shrub mascot, imbued with subtle enchantments
And a coffee bottle that refilled itself with enchanted brew
But celebration was short-lived. Cries of terror rang out as students scattered in panic. A malevolent force had awakened—a mimic, ancient and cunning, hiding in plain sight as a common trunk in the library. With fangs like blades and a hunger for magic, it lashed out at the students.
Ursula struck first, her twin daggers flashing like silver lightning. Belle stood beside her, but the mimic lashed back, striking Belle down in a single crushing blow. Esther, with healing hands and a whispered spell, revived her fallen friend. Morningfeet surged forward with his great axe gleaming, roaring defiance into the chaos.
Esther wove a haunting melody, a Dissonant Whisper that slithered into the mimics mind—a nursery rhyme twisted by fear: “Three Blind Mimics.” Terrified, the creature retreated, folding itself once more into the semblance of a harmless trunk. But Belle, her mind sharpened by rage and arcane focus, struck it down with a Mind Sliver, banishing the threat with a final whisper of psychic force.
Professor Sharpbeak arrived, having shielded fleeing students and coordinated the evacuation. She praised the group’s bravery, though concern lingered in her eyes. Esther, ever perceptive, voiced her concerns about the academy’s emergency procedures.
As the students carried the mimic’s form to the main offices, they noticed a strange black ichor seeping from its remains—oily and unnatural. Sharpbeak, whispering to her fellow professors, instructed them to deny any knowledge of the event, her voice tight with urgency. “We must not stir panic,” she said.
For their valor, the students were each granted a platinum piece—a token of both thanks and secrecy. And so, the first chapter of their journey closed not with fanfare, but with secrets buried and danger yet to come.

The Chronicle Thus Far
The Gathering of First Years
On the dawn of a new term at the illustrious Strixhaven University, four young aspirants arrived at the appointed meeting point: Ursula the sharp-eyed rogue, Morningfeet the bold barbarian, Esther the gentle-hearted bard, and Belle, the charming Wizard.
Awaiting them was Aisla Fitzbottom, a bright and sprightly staff member from the Strixhaven Cafe, volunteering with the Student Welcome Committee. With cheerful authority, she led the newcomers through winding paths and verdant courtyards, beneath the towering spires of arcane learning.
Their tour ended at the office of Professor Mavinda Sharpbeak, the university’s wise and venerable guidance counsellor. A regal figure with a hawk’s gaze and kindness behind her eyes, she welcomed the students with warm candor, speaking to them of boundaries, well-being, and the weight of magic. With her blessings, they departed for their dormitory to settle into the place that would, in time, become their home.
In the cozy bustle of the dorms, they encountered Nora Ann Wu, the resident assistant for the First-Year Hall. Energetic and watchful, Nora was preoccupied with the moving in of all First Year students, while dealing with the challenges of Belle's luggage and the pending delivery of her grand piano. After selecting their bunks and stowing their belongings, the group ventured forth to the famed Biblioplex, a cathedral of tomes and forgotten knowledge, to collect their uniforms, spell books, and sundry supplies.
