Final Major Project / Part 2 / - FoME Website
For my FMP at university, I decided to create my own make believe clothing brand FoME. The project contained Clothing, brand guideline book and a website shown off in this post. The website was built to represent an older style of a computer OS, but with web design elements. It contains my portfolio of work, a shop which hosts clothing designed by me (sadly not on sale just yet) and some extra tid bits. For a better look at it, visit the link provided below. For a better viewing experience on screens smaller than 23″, it is advised to zoom out to 90% or even 80%.

MIchael Corby & Mark Peter: L O V E L A N D
As part of a small competition for MIchael Corby's and Mark Peter's upcoming album I created a couple of concept designs for their cover. From what I gathered, I realized that a more vivid, colorful result would be more welcome. Due to that, I started playing around with more abstract and intriguing visuals. I did, however, make an additional photo-based one as I believed that this could fit the aesthetic. It was a little hard to decide what visuals to use as the songs from the album were yet to be heard, but I believed that the artists had a visual in mind that would lead the design forward. Sadly though, they decided to go through with another designers work, but I still very much enjoyed the work I ended up doing.

Welcome Poster: Plastic
For this project, we were tasked to create a poster for the upcoming end of the year design show. Sadly, due to the show being canceled because of the given circumstances, the project was altered to a fully digital hand in.
During this project, I went through a few different concepts but ended up working with, in my opinion, a fairly unique technique, for my main visuals using scanned imagery and altering it to my needs. During the initial stages of this project, I got my hands on a printer/scanner combo that I decided to play around with as last year around I remembered having loads of fun creating these unique visuals by either scanning things that wouldn’t be scanned conventionally or misusing the printer by purposefully moving things around while they were being scanned in.

D&AD: Desires
Done as a part for the D&AD competition, my goal with the campaign was to normalise communication between couples during sexual intercourse. Taking into consideration of how modern sex education has failed to fully inform people about the female body, more so about the vaginas functions and pleasure point stimulation, I decided that with this approach I could encourage partners of all ages and genders to safely explore their partner's bodies by communicating what they feel and want to feel. For the video portion of the campaign, the concept was to encourage and normalise sex talk, as in expressing your desires and letting your partner know when something does or doesn't feel right. Keeping that in mind I didn’t aim to make anything that could come off too vulgar or offensive to some, so it was decided to mix people expressing their every day wants and needs with what these people would also ask of during sex. So in essence, the aim is to convey the fact of how normal this type of communication should be. Within the video itself, we decided to focus on filming just lips for multiple reasons. One of them being the fact that lips are a very provocative part of the body and they can express a lot of emotion. The other reason was the fact that with showing off just the lips, there is no implication of gender or sexuality, essentially making this relatable for everyone.
Sadly due to the latest virus outbreak, the video couldn't be fully finished and polished as the editors files are in lockdown in our university. The latest preview can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/oHIHlvss5hI

Visual Research: Photoshop - multi layered poster
As requested by the brief given at university, I started looking into different industries where I would fit in as a graphic designer and what could I learn within those industries. Initially, I wanted to look into advertising and advertising strategies, to gain more knowledge in the business end of things, but soon enough I realised that this wouldn’t be the most appropriate topic for this unit and course in general.
Moving onwards, I decided that besides understanding the industry I’m planning to work in, I had to also brush up on some of my skills within the adobe creative suite which contains the tools I’d have to use on a day to day basis. From the main trifecta of Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, I chose to look more into Photoshop as I wanted to become more of an expert when it comes to the limitations and what can be done with it.
Through loads of research into the tools and features that Photoshop provides, I subsequently started looking into the history of graphic design, wanting to incorporate and honor the times before most of the skills were transferred to digital.
My idea for the final outcome was to print on multiple layers of acetate, creating a physical depth effect with my designed poster. The final artefact took a lot of finessing to get it just right to my liking. Albeit I wasn’t able to incorporate much from what I had learned during the research process, I am still very pleased with the outcome as both the play between layers is quite prominent, with elements intertwining between layers.

B.A.M.: Artist Appreciation
For this project we were given the task to create a short format magazine with a free choice for the topic. For myself, I chose to tackle the music industry, with the concept of showing off underground or non conventional musicians to the masses. My favourite design choice during this project was to add a layer of printed acetate as the protective cover for the magazine, that also has the “logo”, issue number and the initials of the artist that the issue would tackle.

RSA: A platform for joy
For the first project of my second year university we were tasked to chose one of multiple briefs provided by the RSA and do a project on that. I chose to do the “A platform for joy” brief and my final outcome was a prototype for an interactive app.
The concept of the app is very basic at its roots as it’s just supposed to be a nice and easy to use train companion app that conveniently stores your tickets in one digital space. The core use would be using the phone as a digital representation of your usual train ticket. On top of that, the app also helps you navigate through your chosen train station, be it find your platform, toilets or the nearest place to sit down. Added to that I had a concept that in the addition to the digital map, you’d also get a visual assistant that with the use of your phone’s camera and inclusion AR, your phone would be able to lead you through the train station, showing you the path to take in the signature orange colour.
The other key feature of the app would be the entertainment aspect of it which would be based on interacting with your surroundings with the help of AR. Let’s say as it’s show off in this example, from a designated safe space within the station itself you’d be able to play a game of Duck Hunt with the others on your platform or play a game of Tic Tac Toe with someone on the opposite side of your platform. Of course, the AR functionality wouldn’t be limited to just games. It would also be used for exhibition type of use cases, for example, choosing a spot within the station itself where people can walk up to a wall and just paint through their phones, or have advertised content that’s interactive with the visitors of the train station, be it in animation, little game or possibly a photo op.

Stanmer park: Sprout - Brand guidelines
For a live brief at university, we were given the chance to come up with a brand identity for an upcoming park project in Brighton. We had to design everything from scratch, that is starting with the name, ending with social media posts. For this project I decided to go with the name “SPROUT” as this park was intended to be built in collaboration with a local agricultural university and the students would create their own spaces within this park. For this project all the work was done by me, including the typeface.

Two Pals identity proposal
During my third year at university I was tasked to design a brand identity for a Bristol based brewery named Two Pals. As shown off above, we were asked to design their logo and create some initial bottle designs. On top of that, I created some basic merchandise to show off how the logo could work in other applications.

Southampton Solent University student app prototype.
For one of my units at university, I was tasked to create an app idea and come up with a basic concept. For my project, I decided to create an app for Southampton Solent University, since there was no app available at the time. The app's designed is made while following Southampton Solent university's brand guidelines. Alongside the mockups, there's a functioning prototype that was created with the help of Adobe XD.

Independent book project: self-care
I was given the choice to make a book on any free chosen topic. Since just around that time I had quit smoking, I decided to document the years I spent with this harmful habit. The book came to a total of 70 pages and 2'645 words, filled with photos taken by me. Since this was a fairly personal project, I also decided to bind the book myself, using a saddle stitch method.

UX design: Culture - a website covering the history and culture of the fixed gear community.
I was tasked to create a website of free choice for a university project. Since one of my passions are bicycles, more specifically fixed gear bikes, I decided to do a website on that. Since I had no restrictions, I wanted to play around with both vertical and horizontal scrolling on my website, hence the gallery and the main part of the website, that shows off the different sub-cultures of the fixed gear community. This was also my first venture of exploring Adobe XD's animation options.
