it was no surprise they ended up here, right?

or, well — ares wasn't surprised. seunggi on the other hand? maybe he was. and it kind of made sense! they were surrounded by halloween costumes of all sizes, of all types, with two small (demanding) children very ready to play. they were dishing out pieces of outfits left and right, putting together all four of their outfits. it was kind of cute to watch, you know? to see how they would lay out a hat with a specific wig, or a tiara, only to switch it out with something different. something they thought looked better with the princess dress, or the superman costume — the options were endless!

and the things they were laying out in front of seunggi? ares, quite honestly, could not wait to see him dressed up as cinderella. especially seeing as he was trying to negotiate with the twins.

“you’ll wear the princess tiara, mr gigi.” ella was very stern in her tone, but it almost didn't matter because. well. because finn was climbing up onto the couch beside seunggi to start putting the tiara on his head.

and believe me, ares was doing his best not to laugh, he was, but it was hard! and besides, he was already dressed in his costume, being a good sport and all. plus? he thought he looked pretty dang adorable in his bluey onesie — then again, it was kind of a given, right? with the hood up and everything, of course he was cute.

"there's no reason to argue with them, love, i think they're going to win." a pause. "and you're going to look so cute."

while logan im has probably been the top contender for king of foot in mouth syndrome for the past ten years of his life, such a fact has never felt so obvious as it does in the moments that he and jiwon are quite literally just staring at each other. uncomfortably. like they're two toddlers meeting on the playground for the first time and logan is absolutely refusing to push jiwon on the swings. — really, the embarrassment (and damage control) he feels is more akin to him throwing a fit about jiwon even asking him such a thing. so, he practically gulps where he stands, seeing his friend shift and wobble (assumedly) in response to logan's absolute rizz.

suddenly, right before his eyes, logan's fun plans with jiwon are morphing into a tragedy in three parts.

(the funny part: jiwon likely has no idea, considering logan acts like he has a minor concussion on most days. casually, of course.)

"oh— have you?" god, what a cliche logan's turning into! a man who can't even tell what's actually different! with hair, no less! it doesn't even change that much! and in the midst of his trying to be so normal about apparently missing half of his brain, jiwon hits him with the fact that it sounds like logan thinks he looks weird!

logan is giving the vibe that he thinks jiwon looks weird!

so, yeah. logan practically chokes on air at that implication, which turns into an absolute wheezefest a few steps away from the middle of his hallway. "y—— what?!" okay, dramatic. but he's losing on all sides right now, so he's trying his best. "no, you don't— you don't look weird— god, is it hot in here, or something?" suddenly, he's gripping the doorframe and trying to get in a good breath.

after a few squeaky toy coughs, he turns his attention to jiwon again. "it looks nice!" he nods. again, casually. "longer. definitely looks longer." his brows furrow as his own lips purse. "should we go?" and escape the crime scene of logan's dignity on the floor.

in an ironic twist of fate, jiwon also has no idea how to respond to logan's reaction. they've run into an impasse, stumbled down a stalemate. a long, awkward silence stretches between them in which they do little more than stare at each other with identical expressions of confusion. as the moments continue to pile up, jiwon begins to grow exponentially self-conscious. does his hair look weird? is his outfit far too casual for where they're going? was the last-minute sweep of lip gloss a mistake? and then logan says he looks good? with a question mark?

crossing an arm over his middle to hold the opposite elbow, jiwon tries with all his might not to let the embarrassment show. maybe he shouldn't have tried so hard to dress up a little for once. it's not like logan hasn't seen his unofficial work uniform of an oversized tee and leggings. lazy and bare-faced, fringe pinned back with a cherry hairclip. hell, he's even seen him turn green with fright every time they're up on that god forsaken rooftop that logan is so inexplicably fond of. a cow in lipstick and a wig is still... well.

"no... i've been growing it out." pressing his lips into a thin line, jiwon shifts his weight where he stands awkwardly in the doorway. it's too late to go back home and change into something more modest. maybe logan will lend him something if he asks nicely enough. "you can say i look weird. you're, like, the last person i'd be offended by if you did. in a nice way, i mean."
