im gonna say that making bubsy into a disheveled wisecracking mid-30s sexyman is an intentional move to capture furries as a secondary market, i feel more strongly abt this than i do about most things that incidentally include sexy furries in them like zootopia or the bad guys. like the trailer is already courting an ironic adult fandom with references to the earlier failed games, making him older and more washed-up looking could be a neutral design decision but the way he looks is just a little too "corporeal" in that yiff-like way where there's just a little less abstraction than you expect from cartoon animals. it also looks like a smaller production, it's not a stretch to say they made him hot on purpose.
#the reference to no pants on the outfits and the joke about the furball move indicate this as well#at least In context with the design and such I think it's solid supporting evidence
