NEW LEAGUE JAN-MARCH
So I completely slacked this past league. I didn't track numbers, names of commanders, none of that stuff. With upwards of 16+ people each league night it was becoming too much for me to keep track of and I'm SUPER A.D.D. as is.
First off: Congrats to Steven winning the last league and that ugly ass white bordered Giant Strength trophy from 4th edition. I really think we outdid ourselves there.
Second: Said trophy was ready for Steven last weekend, but, I forgot it. Whoops. He'll get it this Saturday where he can put it next to his other one.
Third: Thanks to Steven and Chuck, this League will also be playing for the Holiday card. It's pretty sweet.
Lastly: the points as they stand for this past weekend:
We had 17 People show. Yay!

League Night 9-15-18
The update on points. 16 People is a lot for me to keep track of and write everything that happens so for now I’m mainly doing just the points and keeping note of the Commanders played.
One of the games Jonathan sent me the play by play. It was a VERY long game for them so probably the most interesting one.
Game 1
Baker - Selesnya - Selvala,
Jonathan - Saheeli
Joe - Lazav
Jesse - Arcades
Baker started the game not with a bang but with a whimper when he played Winter Orb on turn three or four. He had a solid board state, gearing up for elvish tap-untap shenanigans but made a crucial error in not playing a basic forest.
He had non-basic green mana available but needed a forest specifically to be able to untap it with one of his elves and then use Wirewood Lodge to do it all again.
Saheeli is instant-heavy so I didn’t mind drawing for turn and then passing. Being able to conserve my mana this way, I was able to launch a few crucial counterspells at Baker to ensure that his slowly building board state didn’t get out of hand in such a restrictive environment.
A slow trickle of mana rocks and cheap draw spells like Brainstorm enabled me to fund my counterspell war against the board.
Jesse (Arcades) got the ball rolling eventually and started drawing a mass of cards by playing walls. Before too long he was swinging hard for Baker and Joe and it didn’t look good for anyone until I was able to use Hour of Devastation to soften things up a bit.
At last, Jesse nukes the orb with Reclamation Sage and then the race began. I played Pact of Negation to save our hides, then Pact from the graveyard via Snapcaster Mage again a turn or two later, I had no issue with mana at this point. Things were getting heated as Joe came online and began controlling the board with additional levies of counterspells and mill.
Tragedy strikes for Jesse as Joe is able to tuck a wall on the bottom of Jesse’s library which Joe immediately names with Tunnel Vision. Insult to injury was added as the realization set in that Baker had a Rest In Peace on the field and Jesse’s entire library is exiled. Not long after this Baker gets milled some and then scoops to his own Rest In Peace as all of his good pieces had been counterspelled into exile or board wiped into oblivion.
Joe and I come to an arrangement and as I had no way to end the game and was broke of counters at this point, he ends the game one or two turns later.
Game 2
Jonathan - Saheeli
Joe - Lazav
Charles - Inala
Steven - Karametra
Joe and Steven have a life-long MTG rivalry and it was fun to watch them bicker at each other like old ladies from time-to-time.
Steven had a real hard time drawing lands for the first half of the game which, I’m sure, none of us were sorry about. Everyone else seemed to be on-point for the most part and the game developed rather quickly in the beginning.
At one point early on Saheeli had come out, made a Servo and then died, I’m not exactly sure if the turn number but it helped set me up for what happened next. Saheeli was able to come out for a second time and gift me with a second new Servo friend who, with the help of a few other artifacts, let me play Nezahal, Primal Tide one turn later which the other players had a pretty big issue with.
Joe copied Nezahal with a Clever Impersonator and the two dinosaurs and Saheeli remained on the board for the rest of the game. Steven never really developed much of a board state. He piddled around a little and made some clever moves but all-in-all this was the slowest that I’d ever seen him play. He did get a Rest In Peace on the board which Joe was not happy about but it didn’t do much to hinder him. I don’t remember much about the mid-game, it kind of stalled for a while and though Joe and myself were drawing a ton from dinosaurs, and Steven from enchantments, we never really got off the ground. Slow combat was pinging away at everyone and eventually Joe got the upper-hand.
The last round of the game was interesting as it all played out rather quickly. After the game, Steven pointed out that I had a way of getting Psychosis Crawler onto the field from graveyard and that I may could have won that way. I only had 5 or 6 cards in hand though and instead I used Incendiary Command to wheel. Joe had next to twenty cards in his hand and I knew I was on my way out so I wanted to cause as much chaos as I could on the way out. Joe didn’t like this and challenged me with a Dimir counterspell that you can stop if the opponent discards their hand. I took the challenge and dumped my hand then passed. Incendiary Command lets you draw the number of cards in hand and I was at zero.
I pass to Charles. Charles went out first, he double casted Dire Fleet Ravager putting us all in our teens and then scooped. Joe nuked me into oblivion with some kind of combo involving a Duskmantle Guildmage and Phenax which I was super-proud of being an ex-Dimir player myself. Steven went down with a dull-wet thud and Joe took the glory road as we all took the post-game wall of shame.

Color Wheel:
27.59% Blue
19.54% Black
19.54% Red
18.39% Green
14.94% White
Pod 1 Game 1
Kevin - Nicol Bolas the Ravager
Baker - Baral, Chief of Compliance
Logan - Firesong and Sunspeaker
Jesse - Varina, Lich Queen
Somehow Azor’s Gateway resolved and Logan was allowed to flip it. This eventually led to 40 red mana (plus whatever lands he already had) and a resolved Jaya’s Immolating Inferno to get the win.
Pod 2 Game 1
Taco - Estrid, the Masked
Amy - Saheeli, the Gifted
Ricky - Tuvasa the Sunlit
This match was a bit of a grind. Ricky and Taco eliminated Amy since she was playing a sort of combo style deck and then they just kind of went at one another for a while. The value game was real but eventually Taco pulled the win with more Enchantments and creatures.
Pod 3 Game 1
Steven - Tasigur the Golden Fang
Jon - Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain
Charles - Surrak Dragonclaw
Billy - Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
Charles got mega mana screwed. So he basically watched the whole game. Steven and I tapped out around turn 6 and after that we never really got another turn. Comboed by Walking Ballista to 1 life each of us then Psychosis Crawler for that extra life gave Jon the win.
Pod 4 Game 1
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Dustin - Tatyova, Benthic Druid
Mike - Kaervek the Merciless
Jonathan - Muldrotha, the Gravetide
Mike played a smoke into a Possibility Storm and the game went to a crawl. Had Kaervek been out at any point, he could have been machine gunning people down with double triggers. But the game went on longer that most and eventually with team work the Storm was bounced and Dustin ended up killing everyone at the same time.
Pod 1 Game 2
Jonathan - Muldrotha, the Gravetide
Jesse - Varina, Lich Queen
Steven - Rona, Disciple of Gix
Billy - Nath of the Gilt Leaf
Nath got mana screwed and although did as much to slow Steven down, including ultimate Liliana of the Veil on him, it just wasn’t enough.
Jesse nor Jonathan could do much because I had killed everyone’s hands earlier on thanks to the power of Lili.
So eventually Steven found a draw spell and Used Rona just get back a Basalt Monolith with Rings and go infinite and kill us off one at a time.
Pod 2 Game 2
Charles - Inalla, Archmage Ritualist
Kevin - Nicol Bolas the Ravager
Dustin - Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow
Taco - Estrid, the Masked
Kevin got mana screwed this game as well (this happened a lot this past week) and was basically just watching the fireworks. Yuriko kept getting hits on him because he couldn’t muster blockers and that was giving Dustin flips thanks to her ability.
Eventually Dustin found enough damage from flips and face hits that put everyone to rest.
Pod 3 Game 2
Mike - Kaervek the Merciless
Amy - Saheeli, the Gifted
Jon - Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain
Logan - Firesong and Sunspeaker
Mike hates Minotaurs, he thinks they’re abominations and they had to die first. So Logan was killed off quick. After that he had to face the two Izzet decks and with Kaervek and Face hits, he did enough damage to slowly killed Amy and the Jon to clench the win.
Pod 4 Game 2
Baker - Selvala, Heart of the Wilds
Ricky - Tuvasa the Sunlit
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Sliver Bro - Sliver Overlord
Baker was all like:
He went crazy and comboed off rather early. RIP.

Pod 1 Game 1
Steven - Rona, Disciple of Gix
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Dustin - Tatyova, Benthic Druid
All politics, all game. This one was intense, three ‘combo’ based decks and a face deck and once the counterspell dust settled it was all about who could sell the win better. Turns out, Steven sold it to Patrick, getting the win and everyone else second.
Pod 2 Game 1
Jonathan - Captain Sisay
Jon - Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain
Charles - Saheeli, the Gifted
Quoted:
I played Sisay turn 4 with Vedalken Orrery on Jhoira’s turn. I was able to establish my board state with plenty of weenies and then Avacyn and Sigarda. Jhoira and Saheeli built their board state and the next turn Odric gave everything everything and then they all died in combat.
Pod 3 Game 1
Billy - Nath of the Gilt Leaf
Amy - Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
Artie - Saheeli, the Gifted
Taco - The Ur-Dragon
Nath had an incredibly fast hand, coming out turn 3, then Memory Jarred on turn 4 getting 21 more Elves into play. Earthcraft was the main reason Nath won on turn 5 and double Torment of Hailfire clenched the game.
Pod 4 Game 1
Jesse - Varina, Lich Queen
Ricky - Tuvasa the Sunlit
Nick - Gisa and Geralf
Nick has a nice little Zombie Combo in his deck that ditches everything into the graveyard and he masses a huge horde of the undead. Which he did to win this game.
Pod 1 Game 2
Nick - Gisa and Geralf
Taco - Estrid, the Masked
Jonathan - Marwyn, the Nurturer
Quoted:
Marwyn is off to a great start by using Mosswort Bridge’s Hideaway to secure Concordant Crossroads and mill off some turds. G&G gets off to a good start and mills some key creatures to reanimate later but Marwyn plays Steel Hellkite and wipes his board with 5 mana. G&G dies next turn to Commander Damage; Immaculate Magistrate untaps multiple times a turn bec Wirewood Lodge and Quirion Ranger. Marwyn is now at a stalemate with Estrid after a Martial Coup BUT I was able to save my 23/23 Marwyn and my Magistrate thanks to Ezuri’s regenerate. EVENTUALLY Jesse was able to build too many creatures with too many enchantments my saddest draw the turn before I died was Craterhoof with only one creature on the board
Pod 2 Game 2
Artie - Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
Amy - Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
CO-CO-CO-COMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Pod 3 Game 2
Ricky - Tuvasa the Sunlit
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Billy - Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
Jon - Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain
None of us really played a deck to interact and stop the combo of Jhoira. Once Paradox Engine landed that was all she wrote.
Pod 4 Game 2
Charles - Inalla, Archmage Ritualist
Steven - Rona, Disciple of Gix
Dustin - Tatyova, Benthic Druid
Jesse - Varina, Lich Queen
I have no clue what happened here. Varina ended up clenching the win though and the two combo/counter decks were put to bed quickly.

Pod 1 Game 1
Billy - Rona, Disciple of Gix
Kevin - Nicol Bolas the Ravager
Steven - Nath of the Gilt Leaf
Mike - Kaervek the Merciless
Steven was at 1 life twice. I’ve come to the conclusion that lightning bolts should be in main decks. This is proof. Ugh. He even played Necropotence at 10 life. So... yeah.
Rona whiffed SUPERRRRRRRR hard. Also she wasn’t able to do anything because Mike had Torpor orb out. Therefor, Kevin was the major threat and even though Steven was Tree of Perditioned down to 13 early on, Kevin was still killed by elves first.
Eventually the odds were so against us that Nath pulled the win.
Pod 2 Game 1
Jesse - Aminatou, the Fateshifter
Jonathan - Marwyn, the Nurturer
Artie - Saheeli, the Gifted
Dragon Jesse - Estrid, the Masked
From Jonathan:
Marwyn win last week was Animatou was pumping out cards like crazy while the rest of us were sitting like chumps with 1-2 lands each by turn 5. Dragon Jessie gets nailed for 40 by a Serra’s Avatar and the rest of us start to panic. FINALLY we start getting into lands and lands (for me) means Elves. Within a few turns I’ve recovered and Artie has fallen to Animatou despite bouncing the Avatar a few times to stay alive. I fog once (naturally) and successfully block with some lesser elves until I’m finally able to pump Marwyn with Imperious Perfect to a bajillion which allows Ezuri to do his thing and I swing for 40+ Commander damage while Animatou only had one blocker left after a huge swing. Animatou remained on the board the entire game without being challenged. Her ult would have allowed one of us to gain control of the Serra’s Avatar and yeah... no.
Pod 3 Game 1
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
Dustin - Tatyova, Benthic Druid
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Baker - Selvala, Explorer Returned
The walue train was in town, they renamed it Tatyova.
Pod 1 Game 2
Kevin - Nicol Bolas the Ravager
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
Steven - Jodah, Archmage Eternal
Mike - Kaervek the Merciless
Written up by Steven for me. Thanks!
Then next match was against Kevin, Mike, and Patrick... Needless to say... A target was placed on my back. ☠️
Turn 4 Kevin killed me with Mike giving his unblocked creature infect, then Pat Killed Kevin, and Pat had overwhelming board state against mike to win it all.
Show and Tell was played by Kevin and we faced an It that Betrays (ironic name because...) and Patrick Played Phantasmal Image which entered as It That Betrays which attacked Kevin to be able to kill next turn!
Pod 2 Game 2
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Billy - Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
Dragon Jesse - Estrid, the Masked
Jonathan - Jodah, Archmage Eternal
Luminach Ascension won this game. 10 Angels on board which eventually got double combat phases thanks to Aurelia, the Warleader. Berserk On Palladia with double attack finished Jonathan while angels killed Rachel at same time, then all angels came at Jesse the next turn to close game.
Pod 3 Game 2
Jesse - Aminatou, the Fateshifter
Ricky - Estrid, the Masked
Dustin - Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign
Artie - Saheeli, the Gifted
This was an Odd game. Mainly because of Yennett.
Seriously though, no clue what happened except Yennett went cray and ending up board locking for the win.

1 Ezuri, Claw of Progress
1 Marwyn, the Nurturer
1 Inalla, Archmage Ritualist
1 Jodah, Archmage Eternal
1 Reki, the History of Kamigawa
That’s a LOT of Commanders. Geez.
Color Wheel:
26.51% Red
21.69% Blue
20.48% Green
18.07% White
13.25% Black
Pod 1 Game 1
Ricky - Verix Bladewing
Jonathan - Marwyn, the Nurturer
Jack - Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
Jon goes first and rolls Marwyn up to 5 or so after a couple turns. With 6 elves and some other creatures on the board he Fierce Empath for Avenger of Zendikar. Next turn he played Temur Sabertooth to bounce and replay Fierce to tutor for Craterhoof and played it for the win, the same turn.
To their credit, Jonathan was at a mere 12 life and if he would have passed turn I’d have died to lethal dragon damage from Ricky.
Pod 2 Game 1
Charles - Saheeli, the Gifted
Patrick - Purphorous, God of Hammer-Time
Steven - Reki, the History of Kamigawa
Charles busted out of the gates with a 5 mana turn two and basically just won the game from there. The value that Saheeli provided and the lack of interaction that Reki and Purp provide just allowed him run away with it.
Pod 3 Game 1
Jesse - The Ur-Dragon
Dustin - Tatyova, Benthic Druid
Billy - Rona, Disciple of Gix
Tatyova got too big of a board too fast thanks to her cantrips. While Rona was doing things, there were no counterspells to interfere with anything anyone else was doing so she fell short and died fast to Jesse and Dustin. Eventually, Dustin just out-valued Jesse and won the game.
Pod 4 Game 1
Baker - Breya, Etherium Shaper
Artie - Daretti, Scrap Savant
Amy - Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Breya eggs too stronk. No real counters or artifact hate to deal with Breya, and a Breya untethered is a dangerous thing. Baker took the game quite handily.
We got Mike and Kevin’s first games in, in between games and Mike piloted Enchantress Palladia really well to win and then Kevin won with his Dragon brother, Nicol.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Pod 1 Game 2
Jack - Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
Dustin - Tatyova, Benthic Druid
Kevin - Nicol Bolas the Ravager
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Everyone died to Dustin and Tatyova, so I’m assuming some for of infinite combo?! I’m not sure. I was on the very end of the table.
Pod 2 Game 2
Amy - Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
Steven - Jodah, Archmage Eternal
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
You can’t always stop a man on a mission and that’s what Patrick was on.
He countered his way to the top, starting from the bottom, .... now we here... started from the bottom...
Anyways, he comboed off and won.
Pod 3 Game 2
Charles - Inalla, Archmage Ritualist
Ricky - Verix Bladewing
Jonathan - Ezuri, Claw of Progress
Billy - Rona, Disciple of Gix
About turn 5 into the game after several counters and some small attacks, Rona got into infinite with the Dramatic Reversal/Isochron Scepter combo. With Mana rocks and top decking with Rona into Staff, She was able to draw the whole deck and kill with Pyschosis Crawler.

League Night 8-4-18
I was off all last week! So whoops, a little late!
August 4th!

2 Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage

11.43% White
8.57% Black
Pod 1 Game 1
Jesse - The Ur-Dragon
Steven - Surrak Dragonclaw
Dustin - Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage
VERYYYYYYYYYYYY long game from what I remember. Together Dustin and Jesse took out Steven, like you should, and after that, Jesse had such a HUGE creature presence that Dustin was scrambling for a board wipe.
Despite drawing NUMEROUS cards and having around 8 board wipes in deck, he never found one and Jesse smote him.
Pod 2 Game 1
Billy - Daretti, Scrap Savant
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
Jonathan - Ezuri, Claw of Progress
It all happened so fast, so fast, that I just remember Daretti got a Metalworker resolved that was never killed, bounced once due to Cyclonic Rift, but even resolved again and pretty much just ran away with the game there with Infinite mana and draw thanks to Staff of Dom.
Pod 1 Game 2
Dustin - Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage
Jonathan - Ezuri, Claw of Progress
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
I want to say Peregrine Drake/Deadeye won this game for Dustin. The infinite mana with Blue Sun’s and Ballista? Were the other player’s demises.
Pod 2 Game 2
Jesse - The Ur-Dragon
Steven - Surrak Dragonclaw
Billy - Nath of the Gilt Leaf
Nath had the game on lock with a 600 squirrel army. They were nuts. Get it?
Jesse board wiped everything with Crux of Fate and Nath just auto loses after that. It’s a very wide deck.
Steven regained control of the game, and got a Season’s Past loop going (that is hell, btw) and sealed the game for a win.

July 21st & 28th League Nights!
Hi! I’ve been doing two updates a month until things calm down everywhere and I can get back to weekly ones.
Luckily Jonathan helps a lot by giving me write ups of his games so that gives y’all more than just my, ‘Oh, she/he won SOOO hard that game.’
July 21st!
4 Sliver Overlord
2 Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire
2 Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
2 Verix Bladewing
2 Karametra, God of Harvests
2 Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
2 Kaervek the Merciless
1 Nath of the Gilt Leaf
1 Surrak Dragonclaw
Pod 1 Game 1
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Dustin - Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire
Dustin had blue pangs this entire night. He was missing the ability to control certain people *cough Patrick* and in their first game together, Patrick inevitably went off to combo and win with Thrasibros.
Pod 2 Game 1
Mike - Kaervek the Merciless
Justin - Sliver Overlord
Ricky - Verix Bladewing
It’s all about the power of numbers. Although Kaervek has a lot of board wipes and Verix the raw power of heavy damage, it just wasn’t enough to stop the power of the sliver legions.
Pod 3 Game 1
Steven - Karametra, God of Harvests
Kevin - Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
Billy - Nath of the Gilt Leaf
Nath emptied hands but I misplayed the game and just lost because I’m bad. Steven took advantage of that and ended up winning the match. :)
Pod 1 Game 2
Justin - Sliver Overlord
Mike - Kaervek the Merciless
Kevin - Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
Mike and Justin got a rematch and Kevin was like... okay, whatever... All out war spread as Kevin took advantage of the blood feud and eventually made his own moves to win the match.
Pod 2 Game 2
Ricky - Verix Bladewing
Steven - Karametra, God of Harvests
Patrick - Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix // Thrasios, Triton Hero
Patrick was swiftly ganged up on and no mercy was shown as Verix and the Goddess of Enchantments showed up to choke the game. After Patrick was taken care of Steven and Ricky battled heads up with the stax attacks coming in for the win.
Pod 3 Game 2
Dustin - Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire
Billy - Surrak Dragonclaw
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
A pretty godly hand for Surrak and complete board control along with the VERY balanced Sneak Attack sealed this game up pretty quick. Seriously, if you think Paradox Engine is bad, try getting Perfected by Blightsteel/Sneak Attack.

July 28th League Night!
2 Sliver Overlord
2 Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage
2 Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
2 The Ur-Dragon
2 Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
2 Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
2 Verix Bladewing
2 Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
2 Maga Traitor to Mortals
1 FIresong & Sunspeaker
1 Captain Sisay
1 Karametra, God of Harvests
1 Kaervek the Merciless
1 Marwyn, the Nurturer
1 Nath of the Gilt Leaf
1 Surrak Dragonclaw
Lot of dragons and dragon herders around these parts.
Pod 1 Game 1
Jessie - The Ur-Dragon
Artie - Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
Jonathan - Marwyn, the Nurturer
Patrick - Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
Patrick had to die first.
He played Teferi and was threatening my Marwyn.
I used Alpha Status to put Marwyn to 20+. Taunting Elf saved Marwyn from Atraxa and Patrick went down to Commander damage.
Jessie was next but I had to find an answer to Dragons which took 2 turns.
I had Moments Peace and then used Flashback the next turn both dodging lethal dragon damage from Dromoka (the other one) Atarka (doublestrike).
Lethal on Rogue’s Passage the next turn.
Artie put up a fight with his fliers and I was at 18 (Artie at 56) before getting the win. He was able to kill some of my elves so it took two turns to Rogues Passage enough damage to win.
Pod 2 Game 1
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Billy - Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
Steven - Kaervek the Merciless
I had to take care of Steven first so I had horse blinders on for him. Luckily his hand couldn’t interact with my board much and he used most of it to eliminate Rachel’s Slivers. This basically paved the way for me to swing out at her with everything after he had died.
Pod 3 Game 1
Ricky - Verix Bladewing
Dustin - Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage
James - Karametra, God of Harvests
Apparently homie don’t play that and James was public enemy number one. With the hate from Verix and Raff, and the fact that Raff went infinite to draw James to death, Verix was on a short leash. Eventually Raff found the spells he wanted and put an end to the dragon.
Pod 1 Game 2
Jonathan - Captain Sisay
Rachel - Sliver Overlord
Logan - Minoturds
Turn 2 for Sisay was:
Forest> Sol Ring> Fellwar Stone> Selsnya Signet
Rachel and Logan both brought me down to lands and a Fellwar Stone using Harmonic Sliver and Return to Dust. Logan board-wipes and I’m set back to the Stone Age.
It’s not long before Sliver Overlord flies over with double-strike over the course of two turns and hammers me into the ground.
Rachel tutors Winged Sliver (after the other flying Sliver died) and takes Logan from 30 to 0.
Pod 2 Game 2
Mike - Maga Traitor to Mortals
Artie - Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
Ricky - Verix Bladewing
I am not sure what happened here, but the outcome was Mike winning over Ricky and Artie. Probably with mass mana and a torment or exsanguinate.
Pod 3 Game 2
Pat - Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
Dustin - Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage
James - Surrak Dragonclaw
RAFF COMING ATCHA! Atraxa got hammered pretty hard and fast. I mean... It’s superfriends Atraxa. Shamon!?
Raff ended up pulling the win out.
Pod 4 Game 2
Steven - Nath of the Gilt Leaf
Kevin - Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
Jesse - The Ur-Dragon
Billy - Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
Clearly Steven is the threat in all these games until someone else ACTUALLY becomes one. Like Jesse and Kevin. Jesse smacked me for like 17 damage double strike and despite being a smart player I just retaliated and killed him instead of killing Kevin. Steven said kill Kevin too, but can’t trust him, he has rabbits that he pulls from everywhere when it comes to Magic. (See that, double entendre sentence).
But as it was, Kevin eventually Bolas’d ahead and we both fell behind thanks to Nath discard and Kevin eventually killed us both.
