'EP’ is out now on Bandcamp (and likely streaming soon). It’s a collection of four new tracks.
https://forestmanagement.bandcamp.com/album/ep
2021 marks the 10th year of Forest Management. I wanted to thank everyone for their support over the years, and hope you can find some quiet moments with this music. Stay safe, and take care. New things are to come in the near future.

'Rooftop By Dusk' is a re-mastered collection of material from the 2010s, titled after the first FM track in 2011.
https://forestmanagement.bandcamp.com/album/rooftop-by-dusk
"Untitled" (Upload, 2013) "Dilute" (Reinforcement, 2016) "Following, Forming" (Transparent, 2012) "Venice" (Venice, 2017)
(73 min) Mastered and assembled in 2020 at Windsor Studio
Bandcamp is waiving its fees today, and I just wanted to thank everyone for the support they’ve shown already. It means a lot to me. The past few weeks have been especially heavy for a lot of people, and music continues to prove itself as a healing force. I’m grateful to be surrounded with a community that reinforces that, keeping love the bottom line. Take care of yourselves and each other. Keep fighting. Change is happening.
More music in different strides on the way. For now, I hope you enjoy Rooftop By Dusk. Thanks to those who bought the Stargazer’s Box.
best,
John

After Dark reviewed in Pitchfork today. Endless gratitude to Marc Masters for his support over the years. LP copies are still available via American Dreams Records: https://forestmanagementadr.bandcamp.com/album/after-dark
"Daniel has found a spot between ambient, drone, and noise to call his own, fusing the qualities of all three without diluting any of them. It still sounds like he’s on the move, probing for ideas, and on After Dark, his patient advancements add up to a big step forward."

I didn’t get to posting before flying out of Chicago last week, but After Dark is out now on American Dreams Records.
You can stream the full album and acquire the vinyl 2LP editions here: https://forestmanagementadr.bandcamp.com/album/after-dark
This record is available on all typical digital platforms, and available physically in both US and EU distros. If you have trouble finding a copy, hit me up.
Wire Magazine included my track “The Grand Lobby” in their Below The Radar compilation: https://www.thewire.co.uk/audio/btr/below-the-radar-32
I’m currently on a train from Berlin to Dusseldorf - the FM Germany tour has commenced, and began with two gigs hosted by Vaagner. West Germany and Mensch Meier were both fantastic, thanks to everyone who came out to support or hang. Special thanks to Oscar, Lloyd, Florian, Joel, Jake, John and Josh.
Tonight I’m on Callshop Radio - http://callshopradio.com/upcoming. Tune in if you’re in the Dusseldorf area!

(with DJ Olive at Tonight Only, 08.17.2019)
Thanks to everyone who came out to Tonight Only last night. What an incredibly rare and special appearance by DJ Olive, who just happened to be passing through Chicago at the perfect time. It was an honor to host him and learn from him. We agreed to hang again and record together, so more soon.
Hope you are staying encouraged and inspired, wherever life has brought you.
cheers,
John

“An intensely deep listening experience.” - Exclaim!
“His pieces are subtly, but constantly, in motion, mixing sadness, beauty, and unease to create an idea of home that only exists in gradually dissolving memories.” - Bandcamp
“Despite this kind of music’s tendency to fade into the background, Passageways works best when played at loud volumes. The compositions are overtly concerned with space, and having them fill a room is a special experience.” - Slug Magazine
“...like memories in progressive, cinematic fading.” - Music Won’t Save You
“These five elongated pieces offer an immense scape that is as transcendental as it is introverted.” - Toneshift
“Images blur like the memories of the things that happened in these places, past and present collide within John’s own sense of nostalgia, and we’re left to separate our own feelings about our own pasts and presents and their collisions...” - Tiny Mix Tapes
“I silently broadcast my state of mind, and in an act of empathy, Passageways rearranges itself into a picture that my present temperament might understand.” - ATTN Magazine
I’m still processing a lot, but the past month has been a deep whirlwind of loving reception, my 30th birthday, being back on tour, new people, new food, financial bootcamp, finishing a new record, and more. Thank you to everyone who has supported the music in the last month since Passageways has been out, and to all the amazing people who made both my Midwest and East Coast tour dates possible. I haven’t posted on here in awhile, so I thought i’d just share some photos. More coming soon, but for now I’m catching up on sleep in Chicago (and packing orders).
In the meantime, you can listen to a podcast interview & read this feature on Forest Management over at A Closer Listen: https://bit.ly/2UPBCX1
Thanks to Joe for having me be a part of his Sound Propositions series.
cheers,
John

Tiny Mix Tapes premieres the video for “Blue Leaves” (directed by Nathan Melaragno).
““Blue Leaves,” the first taste of Passageways, is a journey through Daniel’s memory and imagination, filmed on location in John’s childhood home. Images blur like the memories of the things that happened in these places, past and present collide within John’s own sense of nostalgia, and we’re left to separate our own feelings about our own pasts and presents and their collisions, endless loops feeding back till we can’t discern one thing from another, rendering us incapacitated. But that’s only if we let it get away from us.“ - Ryan Masteller

The 405 premiered the video for “Blue Leaves” today. Directed, shot and edited by Nathan Melaragno. I met Nathan last year while he was performing with my friends Organic Dial in Cleveland. He’s an incredibly gifted video artist with a sensitive eye for subtle moments. The video was shot in my old neighborhood & at my family’s home on a Sunday afternoon in Westlake, while I was in town on tour last month.
