I know I’ve been essentially radio silent on here.. and I have replies and a few things I need to get done. For the past few months I was in a toxic living situation and it appears as recently I have stumbled onto yet another one. However I am planning on getting out by the end of this month so I write this to let my partners and such know that I haven’t abandoned or forgotten anyone! I’ve just been trying to get to a safe place so I can focus on writing again🤍 terribly sorry that I’ve vanished as long as I have.

Character Building

Some things to think about when building/describing a character:

Physical traits

Hair: color and length. Maybe it's natural, maybe it's dyed

Build: height, weight, muscle

Face: maybe they have a longer nose or forehead. Think about specific features like freckles, gapped teeth, jaw shape, acne scars, lip shape

Eyes: eye color, shape, 

Backstory

Where is your character from?

Do they have family? How has that affected their personality?

What are their goals?

What are their likes/dislikes?

Strengths and weaknesses

Age

Personality

Voice: is their voice deep? Lilted? Strained?

How do they react to stressful situations? 

What do they wear?

Are they kind? Meaner? Restrained? 

How do they move? If they're older maybe they're a bit slower. Maybe your character is clumsy or move awkwardly

Body language/face: is your character normally more serious? Do they have RBF? Maybe they smile more or their face is more relaxed at rest. Maybe they leave their hands on their hips a lot, or prefer them crossed or in their pockets.

How are they perceived by others? How do they view the people around them? 

Should I dive deeper on some of these?

What are the pros and cons for you personally writing the characters that you do?

I typically write angsty males, with the occasional female character that others in the fandom seem to hate or not like to interact with as much as your more main characters. Pros for my characters I feel like they’ve all definitely shaped and matured my writing where it used to be all over the place and rushed, now I can slow myself down and address darker topics I never would have thought I could put into decent enough words. It’s funny how after writing certain muses for a while that they start to become almost a part of yourself, an extension to be used in threads and servers. I truly have a connection to each and every muse I write and I think that makes it easier for me to understand them. I get such a wide variety in waves when I get the chance to let them use their voices and I’m honestly here for that.

Downsides to having the muses I have however make it quite hard to get interactions or start threads. Not many people seem to want to hear what they have to say which is a shame at times because I know deep down they just need a chance to shine in their own way. Misunderstood characters are harder to muse especially when you have other muses crying out for your attention like I do. I’ll be wanting to reply to a thread with a certain muse and have a different one speaking to me instead. Regardless if they get to be used though, I love them all. They are of me as I am of them 🤍

Stefan isn’t amused by her reply, far from it. The youngest Salvatore lets out a sigh. “Katherine we’ve been through this… I don’t love you. You compelled my love. It wasn’t real.” Deep inside there’s something nagging at Stefan. What that is, he wasn’t sure yet. All he knows is that lately the Elena Gilbert he had loved wasn’t acting like herself and Katherine Pierce was back in Mystic Falls demanding for the attention she wanted.

“Me and Elena haven’t been together for months. You know that. You’ve only been watching me ever since you stepped foot into town. I’m pretty sure you could even tell me how many blood bags I’ve drank today.” Stefan remarks, staring at her with a light amusement beginning to dance across his face. Truth be told he didn’t mind her being in town. Not that he would admit it. “Why are you really here Katherine?”
